A list of puns related to "Shanghai Massacre Of 1927"
I was recently reading about the history of Shanghai in History of Future Cities by Daniel Green where he mentions briefly Chiang Kai-shek's use of triads to put down the protests and revolts of communist led labor unions in Shanghai. This eventually led to a purge of communists. Do you have specific details about how this deal between government and organized crime was brokered? How powerful were the triads operating in Shanghai around 1927? How was this event viewed by locals, Shanghailanders and the international community?
Here is what I can already say about the incoming Rise of the White Sun:
Here are some screenshots. those are my actual working raw drafts, not at all the final product, but those who know me already know that I am not shy to show my ugly prototypes.
The game will be multiplayer with several factions
You will play as historical figures
There will be 4 playable factions in the first scenario:
-2 Warlords
-The GMD (1 or 2 players)
-The Green Gang (2 players)
-The Communists (2 players)
Inside each faction you will play as a historicall character and collaborate with other players.
I am planing to make a semi-simultaneous turn based system
-Each turn, every player plays simultaneously
(you will see reports poping if anyone makes an action disturbing enough)
And then when everyone pushed the next turn button or if the time is done ==> Go to next turn
The gameplay will be a succession of players actions like this one :
How to get your first armed troops to make a Revolution?
Talk to the workers and get them ready for the Revolution to come
Subvert some corrupt soldiers to get a gun or two
Gain Partisans among the workers
Organize them into a worker's militia
Organize massive strikes to get more partisans and provoke some violent reactions from the Factory owners
Use that situation to Start an insurrection
You will now have a mass of strikers and an organized worker's militia
Storm some police stations
Get their weapons
And so on...
Of course, other players have their own agendas and won't let you execute yours so easily!
Tell me if that sounds good to you!
https://libcom.org/history/blood-coal-colorado-strike-1927-patrick-murfin
Today marks the first day of the great Colorado coal strike of 1927 where the IWW industrial Union led more than 10,000 coal miners to shut down the stateโs coal industry in order to get Union recognition, a $1.50 wage increase ($7.50/hour total), Union weigh men (miners were paid by the amount and weight of coal they dug, and employer-hired weigh men would often lie to swindle workers), payment for โdead workโ (digging through rock that did not contain coal, installing beams and other safety measures to make sure workers didnโt die, etc.), and the recognition of a โpit committeeโ, a council made of workers and employer reps to solve labor disputes.
This led to mass harassment and arrests by police and employers, leading up to the first Columbine massacre, where six died and dozens were injured as state troopers at the command of the governor beat, gassed, and fired at workers with rifles, machine guns, and hand grenades.
Let this serve as a reminder that labor rights have always been bought with blood, that employers have been and are willing to take drastic actions to maintain their power, and that it takes powerful, radical action to fight back and win.
"Massacre at columbine" "Mass shooting at columbine" these are headlines we automatically assume are from newspapers on the morning of 21st April 1999. They are actually headlines from 22nd November 1927,the day after the FIRST columbine massacre of 21st November 1927, unlike the tragedy at the school 72 years later this !massacre is little known, because it was perpetrated by Colorado state troopers and Militia against striking miners at the columbine mine in serene,CO. If you think this is a strange coincidence consider this, there was another massacre at Ludlow ,colorado 13 years earlier,19 striking miners were murdered by !machine gun fire by state troopers. The date? 20th April 1914. Strange world huh?

Well, Shanghai is starting to get populated enough
I will now work on the China general Map
The list of playable characters for that scenario will certainly be :
**
Niu Yongjian : charged by the KMT to bribe enemy forces and coordinate an uprising with the Communists
**
Zhou Enlai : charged with the organization of the uprising for the communists (modifiรฉ)
&
Wang Shouhua : a syndicalist badass charged of the masses mobilizations for the communists
**
Du Yuesheng : some Opium greeng gang baron. Its control over the factories and syndicats being challenged by the communists he will have to choose to deal with them or fight them
**
Sun Chuanfang : this Warlord will be very busy fighting the KMT, controlling Shanghai and monitoring its own troops and generals
(No easy tasks, but he is the one who can derail the KMT plans here)
He will need the help of the green gang to control Shanghai
**
Jiang Jieshi himself : very busy conducing military operations while fighting for influence against the Wuhan government
**
Borodin : Busy trying to lower the Jiang Jieshi influence and turning Wuhan into a CCP Red Base
**
They are some other good candidates of course, but for the moment I will treat them as non playable characters.
Is there any other historical figure you would like to play in this scenario?

Why Chiang Kai-shek purged the party, we still have to start with the first cooperation between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party. Sun Yat-sen spent most of his life for revolution, but he still failed. He finally understood a truth, that is, if you don't have your own army, you cannot establish a government according to your own plan. To put it bluntly, Sun Yat-sen finally realized that "government comes out of the barrel of a gun."
However, it costs money to form an army. Sun Yat-sen himself has no strong base (especially after Chen Jiongming's mutiny), what should he do?
At this time, it happened that the Soviets started activities in China. Japan's operations in North Korea and Northeast China over the years have made the Soviet Union very uneasy. The Soviet Union hoped to gather the power of Wu Peifu and Sun Yat-sen to suppress Zhang Zuolin and others who were backed by Japan.
Later, the Soviet Union sought out these two people because, first, the Soviet Union wanted to support a nationalist revolutionary force. When this power rises, other imperialist powers may be expelled. The revolutionary force of Chinese nationalism was represented by Sun Yat-sen at the time. And secondly, the Soviet Union also needs to increase the possibility of success, so it hopes that the pro-Russian warlord will unite with Sun Yat-sen.
Of course, in the end Wu Peifu and Sun Yat-sen fell out for various reasons. After weighing the benefits, the Soviet Union chose to support Sun Yat-sen.
At this time, things were still a bit awkward. The cooperation between the Soviet Union and Sun Yat-sen began in 1922. And we all know what happened in 1921. The CCP, at the time, was too weak. It is impossible to support the CCP to achieve the goals requested by the Soviet Union. Therefore, the Soviet Union still has to support the Kuomintang.
From the perspective of the Kuomintang, if the CCP develops well one day, will the Soviet Union turn to support the CCP and abandon the Kuomintang? From this perspective, we can understand why the Kuomintang was not a communist party but applied to become a member of the Communist International.
From the perspective of the Soviet Union, although they appreciate Sun Yat-sen's ideology, fundamentally speaking, it is clear that the USSR has more appetite for the CPC than the KMT. But the CCP is too weak. No support is ideo
