A list of puns related to "Sephardic Jews"
In 1983, the Christian Science monitor wrote an article that brought up that people were wondering how the Mizrahi Jews in Israel went from left wing in the early 1970s to right wing in the 1980s. When the article was describing what the Mizrahi Jews first thought ideologically when they came to Israel, this is what it says: "To the new immigrants from Arab countries in the 1950s, most of them poorly educated, the revisionist ideology aimed at Jewish control of both sides of the Jordan River was strange and irrelevant" (link here to article).
In fact, when the Mizrahi Jews in Haifa's Wadi Salib rose up to protest discrimination against Mizrahi Jews in 1959, they demanded that the government "end the military government that ruled the lives of Israelβs Palestinian citizens" (link to article here).
About 10 years after the Wadi Salib riots, some Mizrahi Jews in Jerusalem formed a protest movement called the Israeli Black Panthers to protest discrimination against Mizrahi Jews. In fact, in the early 70s, the Black Panthers expressed solidarity with the PLO and even sought an alliance with them (link to article here).
But, as many of us know, many Mizrahi ended up throwing their support behind Begin and the right wing Likud Party as a way to protest against the political establishment that had discriminated against them. In fact, many of them went so right wing, that it was reported in a Christian Science Monitor article in 1984 about Meir Kahane that "in lower-middle class, largely Sephardic development towns, the pollster says Kahane won up to a third of the vote" (link to article here).
So, my question for you all is what happened between the 70s and 80s?
Because even in the 1980s the Israeli Black Panthers were still backing the PLO. For example, Charlie Biton, the leader of the Black Panthers, was meeting with Yasser Arafat in 1987 (link to article here). It was until the Second Intifada in the early 2000s that Biton cut ties with the Palestinians and became more right wing, with him eventually endorsing the Shas Party (link to article [here](https://www.theyeshivaworld.com/news/headli

Let me know
Since "Liturgy" is not synonymous to "Genetics", a thing that the Jews today sadly do not know, and because the Ashkenazi rite had took over Europe as a whole in the 16th Century (Yiddish replaced many smaller local Jewish languages) while Sephardic rites took over the Oriental World (sans Yemen, mostly); I find myself write this post for any Jews interested. I will mention each diasporal group by their demographic weight:
What would a typical Iberian Jews results look like? I assume a mix of MENA, Ashkenazi and Spanish+Portuguese?
It always confuses me that religious jews from the middle east wear clothing from Poland/Europe (black hat)? Are there any folks going against this trend? Trying to reclaim traditional clothing?
For example, I am Iraqi-Jewish. It seems strange that I would not dress like my grandparents.

It is not only the Muslims who suffered from the fall of the last flame of Al Andalus. The Sephardic Jews have suffered as much as (if not more than) our Brethrens in the north. While there are many lands willing to accept the Moorish refugees, there are not nearly as many people willing to take the Sephardic Jews.
Since the fall of Granada in 1492, the now retired Sultan Muhmmad ibn Yahya has been welcoming them into our realm with open arms and no questions asked. Even now, we continue to accept them and help them adjust to their new lives.
Sultan al-Burtuqali has decided, in an effort to help the Sephardic Jews get a chance to recover from the hardship of the last decade, to invest f50,000 in the various Jewish quarters throughout the Kingdom. The famous Rabbi Avraham Adrotil had granted former Sultan ibn Yahya the title of "Righteous Amongst Nations" and as a show of continued support to his protected dhimmi, Sultan Al Burtuqali has hired the Rabbi as an advisor in his court {though he for obvious reasons does not hold much of a title or say in court}. As is commanded by our faith, it is our duty to protect the dhimmi from unfair oppression. With this invest we hope the Jewish dhimmi in our realm will provide to the ever expanding market of our Kingdom
When they meet me and see that I'm brown, they assume I'm one of the mud people and treat me accordingly. Then when I reveal that I'm a sephardic, they change on a dime. I think more than anything seeing their true color is what has turned me off to it all.
I just found a few days ago. This is all new to me and Iβm floored. I have no idea where to even begin looking up this info. Iβm very lost and donβt how or where to start so any tips would greatly appreciatedβ¦
Sephardic Jews have a pretty extensive history in Spain and Portugal. Wondering if any Sephardic Jews in America speak Spanish and do they have any relations with the Hispanic/Chicano Catholic community because of the cultural and linguistic ties or do you feel more comfortable hanging around with the Jewish community?
