A list of puns related to "Second Battle Of The Marne"
Just like the title says.
But also, would the figth on the eastern front take as long? I think that France would have surrenderd after this lose. And since the war would be over before christmas, would the peace treaties be as hard as they would be in 1918 or would the Central Power still take a lot land in Mittel-Afrika and such?
.
Any good casual and/or more informative reads on the battle of the Marne you can recommend? Including view points from different sides and ranks would be best! What are your favorite WWI text sources/books?
On October 23, 42BC- Octavian and Mark Antony defeat Marcus Junius Brutus, assassin of Julius Caesar and leader of Republican Senate forces at the Second Battle of Philippi in Macedonia, Greece. The victory establishes Octavian, Antony and Marcus Lepidus as the undisputed rulers of Rome in the form of a power sharing arrangement: the Second Triumvirate.
Brutus' death was in some ways a fitting end to the Republic. He came from one of the oldest and most prominent patrician families of Rome. One of his ancestors was a leader in ousting the last king of Rome ushering in the Republican era. When Julius Caesar defeated Pompey and became the de facto ruler of Rome, the latter day Brutus led the conspiracy to assassinate Julius Caesar with Gaius Cassius Longinus. In the power struggle that followed, Brutus and Cassius led the Senate forces opposing the Caesarian faction of Octavian, Mark Antony and Marcus Lepidus. Cassius committed suicide at the first Battle of Philippi mistakenly believing Brutus had died. Thus a Brutus helped found the Roman Republic and another oversaw its demise.

So what we know about the Second Battle of Terra (please fill me in if I'm missing anything):
Okay, from this version of things, it would seem like a world that is in no way self-sufficient in food being cut off for a month would lead to massive starvation, cannibalism, etc. Moreover, when then have the forces of the Imperium retake the rest of the planet. Which should *also* lead to horrific slaughter.
But then...
When Guilliman was preparing the Indomitus Crusade, he carried out a ruthless purge of Terra. And that would seem to indicate that there were lots of people left alive, more than you'd think from a massive apostasy to Chaos, uprising, and then counter-attack by Imperials after the Astronimcan was back on and the palace was secured (to say nothing of the starvation that I feel I have to emphasize).
But we see the Throneworld again in Mark of Faith. The corrupt Dream Seller who sells to dissolute nobles has a palace that's still intact even after the month of unpleasantness. The facilities of the Ecclesiarchy all seem intact. In Martyred Lady we're at the throneworld and the Cathedrals already seem to be up and functioning again.
So... it sort of feels like the description of the whole planet roiling with sedition, rioting, and madness doesn't quite match descriptions of the aftermath, where we still have what amounts to Earth still functioning as the great hive-cum-shrine world that needs a massive purge.
I'm wondering if maybe

Will we stop fighting each other or will we stand together and fight a greater evil. Time to show The Order how we fuck with intruders on our land.
The title is self-explanatory: wars that are fought in multiple theatres (land and sea) or on multiple fronts! I'll go first,
This "war" (really two connected conflicts) is one of the most important historical events in my story and also the setting of a few prequel novellas.
Warning: I admit I kinda went stream of consciousness on this and it is v long and potential convoluted. I apologize in advance.
Background:
These two conflicts occurred roughly 400 years prior to the events of the main story. Up until this point, the Sunshya Empire (kind of Elves) was the dominant force on the content and nearly unmatched in its military might. They had conquered the nascent human settlements to their northwest and much of the Kelahiran Archipelago (home to the Varnshya people) off the eastern coast. Both colonies were held under oppressive rule. The only thing standing in their way was the Orcish clans to the southeast and the independent Kelahiran islands with their budding resistance. Under the leadership of the previous Empress Elina Raho, the Sunshya Empire had reached its greatest extent, and her son Adnan was eager to extend it.
Part One: The War for the Red Valley:
The Orcs exceeded the Sunshya in sheer numbers and could take them in standard conflict. What had held them back before was infighting and dissonance between the clans. Most of their territory was protected from the Sunshya attack by the Crescent Mountains, with the breadbasket Red Valley nestled between the two halves of the range. The turning point in the century-old conflict between these two cultures was the unification of the Orc clans by Halasz Czaba under one banner. Once united, the Orcish clans mounted a full attack over the Northern half of the Crescent Mountains.
While this was happening the Sunshya forces were dealing with a problematic resistance in Kelahira. The Varnshya fought tooth and nail to protect their home against the occupation and were able to prevent the Sunshya from overtaking the main island. They couldn't quite push the military out completely though. The Sunshya still needed to station a large number of soldiers on the archipelago to keep the peace on the occupied islands. The occupation of Kelahira was relatively unpopular back home, as it was a seemingly fruitless endeavor that was costing many Sunshya lives. Elina who launched the invasion, and subsequently her son who continued the occupation, were unpopular as well.
The Orcish attack took the d

If you've been putting them on hold like me, it may be smart to start now, so that in case you don't have time later, forget one now/later or run in trouble now that you can keep that in mind for later. Best of luck everyone!
