A list of puns related to "Screwfix"
Honestly.
I'm here stapling breathable membrane onto bits of two lovely treehouses we're building and my stapler decided to spontaneously disassemble.
No worries! I'll pop down to screwfix and get a new one. I've got about 10k of these 14mm Type 53 staples, so all I have to do is find a stapler that fires them and I'll be off and away. Easy.
Cue 40 minutes on the screwfix website, with absolutely no indication on any - Any - of their staplers as to what staples they accept. None.
Oh, I got smart, headed into the Q&A sections on a few. Guess what? I'm not alone... The world needs to know this. Every single stapler had the question "what staples does this accept" and really helpful answers, a sample of which I'll now lay out for your amusement and judgement.
"it'll take 8, 10 or 14mm staples" (but not what width) "it'll accept standard staples" (there are, like, 14 standards?) "."
That's right, you smashing, adonis-bodied reader, the answer to the question of what staples is simply a full stop.
I mean, now I know?
So, I've now gone and bought a stapler called an AT-50, in the hope that it'll take T50 staples. which I have also had to buy
It's a travesty. We need a chosen one to bring order to the force.
Edit: this rant needed more staple puns, but I just couldn't pin any down.
Having a bit of a splurge on getting started with some decent tools and bits for improving my DIY capabilities, and if anyone had any promo codes that I could drop in there at checkout would be classssss, and much appreciated
Anything over Β£50 but less than Β£10,000. Valid until 11th October.
Use code SF10 at the Screwfix website
Watching them install them on the sofa feet was quite demoralising but hats off to the salesman for a robbery well done.
I've moved recently and still finding my way around here.
Is there any shop in Antrim or around like screwfix? A DIY shop where I can buy stuff like switches, cables, sockets, radiator valves, etc...
Today I need to buy 47mm metal back boxes and I don't feel like driving all the way to newtownabbey screwfix again.
Edit: Thanks all, Islandbawn Stores got me sorted. Antrim builders looked decent too until I noticed the prices...
Has anyone else noticed how Screwfix have been letting their standard of quality drop lately? I've been using 4.5 x 75mm Timbadeck screws for framing and the current batch are absolute rubbish, bending, snapping and heads rounding off even in the softest of woods.
Hey guys, I'm new to the UK and need some help picking a go-to home improvement store. I'd love for you guys to express your opinions on which is your preferred store and why, what are the strengths and weaknesses of them, any big differences, best prices, etc?
Looked everywhere, so no doubt I'll come back and place this new box directly on top of the old one
Just write it out on the little bit paper - have you never been to Argos?
The guy in the queue ahead of me came out with pliers, duct tape and cable ties, and it got me thinking.
Manual + fittings they gave me: https://i.imgur.com/Uqjuqqd.jpg
Looks like it's missing:
2 x 15mm Screw
2 x 10mm Screw
4 x 82mm Screw
Is this info enough to take to a shop and have them find the parts I need, or do I need to find out the thickness too?
Cheers
