A list of puns related to "Scatter Diagram"
As stated in the title, I have plotted the data using two columns and then I tried to get the points to reflect the week # cloumn but to no avail. I have what the end should look like but I cannot seem to get it right. I figured I would have to somehow add the week # column later but I don't know how. I will add the images to my problem.

Good Morning,
I have a wave scatter diagram reporting the Significant wave heights (Hs) and associated Peak Period (Tp) over 1 year of observation.
Something quite similar to that:
https://preview.redd.it/8fmibb0hws251.png?width=850&format=png&auto=webp&s=608e6db621bf344511058bf1ab1aa4c35160bc4c
I would like to know how I can extract a Maximum Hs representative of the environment. I mean clearly the maximum Hs here is between 8 and 8.5m but it almost never happen. The most probable Hs is between 0.5m and 1.0m but it is not the maximum. I guess I am looking for a "most probable maximum" Hs.
When i read Metocean report, for a location, author report a 1 YRP Hs and Tp combination, which is a single value. How can I get it from a scatter diagram?
Thank you

Hey people!
I'm currently on my masters education and I'm enrolled in a machine learning course. For that course, I have to apply different classifiers from the PRTools toolbox to a specific data set (Biometric voice data of people suffering from Parkinson's). I'm doing fine what concerns the actual classification, but I'm a bit behind the visualization of this.
My goal is to draw a scatter diagram with contour plot of the conditional probability densities for each classifier that I'm running on the data. However, I simply cannot figure out how to do it. A scatter plot/diagram itself is not a problem, but drawing the contours of the PDF is what I'm struggeling with. Here's an illustration from two classifiers showing what I'm trying to achieve:
The right illustration also show decisions boundaries, which I'm also struggeling with. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Cheers!
I am dealing with a set of data which is basically:
User ID | Number of logins | Number of purchases | Entrant(or not)
I would like to graph them with logins on the x axis, purchases on y, and have the entrants and non-entrants in separate colours. Was hoping some kind soul could show me the ropes in how to apply different colours to different groups.
Thank you in advanced!
I have a scatter diagram with the points joined together so it's essentially a line graph. It's a speed time graph so I want to mark and annotate certain points on the line. I've added text boxes but it is unclear which point they are referring to. How do I extend a line from the text box to a specific point on the line or color that specific point?
Disclaimers: I don't play Hanzo much. I hope he still gets the horizontal dive ability, that sounds great. I love characters getting more abilities and more mobility. And I actually think a rapid-fire volley skill would fit my personal play style better than Scatter Arrow, but I think SA is an interesting and somewhat iconic ability ("simple geometry") and I had some ideas about reworking it rather than replacing it (see diagram):
Rather than a single arrow that splits into 6, Hanzo could fire three arrows that each split in two. The three initial arrows could have horizontal spread similar to Genji's alt-fire. This would make Scatter still powerful up close for deterring enemies but prevent the dreaded "foot snipes", at least at anything but very close range. Amount of spread I'd leave up to balancing, but I think the similarity to Genji would be a nice flavor bonus.
Dying to a 75 damage arrow that's already bounced three times feels like dumb luck, so perhaps with each bounce an arrow should do less damage. Maybe something like 120 for each initial arrow mentioned above, 80 for each of the six arrows (post-split), then halve the damage after each addition bounce off a surface. Again, numbers TBD balancing.
I think these changes would relieve a lot of the frustration playing against Scatter Arrow while making it a still powerful and potentially more reliable tool for Hanzo. With still a little bit of dumb luck calculated marksmanship involved.
I am trying to calculate the probabilities for scattering between quarks, i.e. when a red and a green quark exchange colors for example, to show that they are the same as eachother? I figure I am required to find the Amplitude for each vertex, which I know will be proportional to a lambda matrix (or product of lambda matrices) So, in first example, i have for the first vertex, the following terms: g3/2 q1 gamma lambda G q1'
How do I multiply these terms together to get the total amplitude/probability? There should also be a propagator for the gluon, which I think would just be 1/k^2? (all quarks have different probabilities)
So i think I must take the 3 examples that I am given:
q(r) q'(g) ---> q(g) q'(r)
q(r) q'(b) ---> q(b) q'(r)
q(g) q'(b) ---> q(b) q'(g)
and show that the probability for each is the same even though the lambda matrices will be different.
How should I think about / go about this?
Many thanks in advance!
I am aware there is an s-channel present in this process (e^- + photon -> e^- + photon), but I thought there would only be a t-channel and not a u-channel (given that final particles are distinguishable).
However, there is only a u-channel and not a t-channel... why? I have tried to see the difference between the corresponding diagrams (Here's a picture of what I have drawn) but I cannot see the reason. Am I missing something or have I drawn something incorrectly?
[disclaimer, not a physicist] I watched this video on electron scattering, feynmann diagrams, and perturbation theory, in relation to solving infinities with path integrals, and from what I understand the total contribution to the behaviour in electron scattering is a sum of all possible interactions. That's fine and all, just typical Quantum weirdness, but why do 4 vertices interactions contribute with a factor of 100 less?
Basically the question is:
Is it correct that "every additional vertex in an interaction reduces its contribution to the (total) probability by a factor of around a hundred, and why"?
The reason why I'm asking this is I've always been fascinated and curious about an 'it-from-bit' kind of approach to the foundation of physical reality. I've been exploring quantum computation and quantum gravitation in relation to this, basically just looking for observations that hint to information or computation being more fundamental than matter and energy itself. Apart from the above question, if you have something else interesting I would love to see that as well!
Thank you in advance!

So, Interlude 16.y is probably my favorite chapter of arc 16 so far (Milly reminds me a lot of (Pact) >!Mags!<, and it poses a unique question; Why did Milly release the Beorgman?
I think the answer to that lies within the context of her upbringing and the (lack of) information that she has about her situation, which I will cover below. I'm no STF, so forgive me for the poor quality of this post.
Note: This is not about whether or not Milly made the objectively correct choice.
Objectively, we know that surrendering to Avery was probably the most-right option she had (barring a curveball Wildbow would introduce regarding what Thunder Bay practioners would do with its prisoners), but that is due to our unique perspective given as readers.
This is about her subjective experience and information available to her and exploring why she made that choice.
So, that out of the way, let's get started shall we?
Cards On The Table:
Before we get started on Milly, I want to first cover a topic that we kind of know but will come to play later in this post; LVA are kind of suspect.
From the perspective of many BHI students and faculty, LVA played a massive part in Bristow assigning himself to the Brownies, the disappearance/death of Alexander, and threatening Musser with the same fate as those two.
And thanks to Verona making that threat to Musser, it's basically pointing a big arrow at the trio for being involved in his murder (which is true), and probably not helped by Verona making similar statements to other students about bad things happening to people who investigate these kids.
Depending on how fast this information proliferated, we have to keep it in mind for any future dealings Practioners from BHI take with LVA.
Let's keep that in pocket for Milly later.
Impact:
I want cover 2 excerpts from this interlude that I think impacted who Milly became as a person:
> There was a pocket dollhouse on the floor that Milly had back home. Clothes. Books. The Good Simon books. Sheโd had those as a kid. Still had them. Even though she was way too old for them. Things were scattered all over, and some of the books had been defaced, with things scrawled on the front.
It hit her like a smack to the face, that this was a house where people had lived. This was a house where girls just like her had lived and now they werenโt alive anymore?
> Tears welled in her eyes and when they did, they made the light from the windows all

Iโm new to C#, coming from a few years of VBA scripting for Excel and Visio, and the thought occurred to me recently that Visio would be good to plan out a program. I was thinking there could be pages with varying levels of detail, like having one page that shows a very rough overall diagram illustrating the most basic elements, then a more detailed page showing more info, connections between classes, methods, and parameters, and then a final page that has blocks with the actual code pasted into it showing more details and connections.
I get kind of scatter brained sometimes and easily distracted, (borderline ADD) and sometimes I get to the point where I feel overloaded when Iโm looking an numerous lines of code, even if theyโre smaller classes and spread out on multiple files, I lose track easily and find myself tracing things out a lot. I was thinking that literally mapping it out would help, and I was wondering if any of you actually do this, and if so, do you have any recommendations, standards, examples you could share, I would greatly appreciate it.

โIt is so rare that we get to observe a human creating art,โ Tstkโsk said as he eager slipped his paws into the protective coverings this planetโs brittle ground cover demanded, glass sand the humans called it.
The rolling ground was home to a wide variety of fungal growths that ranged from larger than the humans to small enough to grow between the hairs a Triskโs mandibles. It just so happened that the species most adapted to growing on the footpaths was a silica rich strain that shattered to dangerous fragments when trodden on by the humansโ massive feet. On the positive side the humans had entire industries dedicated to specialty footwear and the light green coverings that Tstkโsk had been gifted by his father were both pleasing to the eyes and comfortable, or at least as comfortable as something that pushed in on all of your sensory hairs at once could be.
โI do not really see the novelty in this,โ Grinds observed as he slid into his belly armor.
The low slung reptile boasted feet that were more than rated for the silica rich sand of the paths but they would collect the sand up in between their belly scoots if they spent too much time outside without protection. โI have a notebook full of human art, the majority of it from this human.โ
โScientific diagrams donโt count,โ Tstkโsk explained. โThat is just showing what something is on the outside. That isnโt real art.โ
โI do not understand the difference,โ Grinds insisted as he moved to the airlock and indicated a point between his shoulder blades with a flick of his tongue.
Tstkโsk scrambled over and climbed up to the offered perch. The reptile could not move nearly as fast as a human over long distances but his average walking speed was still quite a bit faster than that of a Trisk, making the riding style a better option that for Tstkโsk to try and keep up the pace. Tstkโsk secured his datapad in a carry pouch and focused on balancing.
โThe sketches that Human Friend James did in your notebook are mostly of engine diagrams,โ Tstkโsk explained. โThey are simple and literal depictions of the visual surface of the objects in question. There is nothing transformative about them, there is no meaning that Human Friend James is trying to express. The are not art.โ
โI object to the statement,โ Grinds spoke up after

In this AskHistorians thread, I answered a question about whether Rokossovsky and Stalin argued during the planning for Operation Bagration. I'm reposting my answer here for everyone to view and discuss. Full credit is owed to Mikhail Sinitsyn, whose book has the most comprehensive analysis of this topic. Where possible, I try to cite original documents and memoirs.
Broad background first for everyone not familiar with the topic. In spring 1944 the Stavka, officers of the General Staff, and Front commanders and military councils were preparing for a summer offensive in Belarus which would become known as Operation Bagration. 1st Belorussian Front occupied the southern-southeastern face of the โBelarussian balconyโ which had formed as a result of the successful Soviet offensives in Ukraine (And unsuccessful ones in Belarus) in the winter and spring of 1944.
David Glantzโs Battle for Belorussia is the most comprehensive book on the leadup to Bagration.
The Frontโs 48th Army had seized a bridgehead across the Dnieper south of the city of Zhlobin following the Gomelโ-Rechitsa Operation in November 1943. In the Rogachev-Zhlobin Operation that following February, 3rd Army had also seized a bridgehead north of Zhlobin. Meanwhile, the Frontโs left wing had advanced into the swamps along the Pripyatโ River and occupied a front running southwest, opposite the town of Parichi.
In his memoirs, Rokossovsky claims that while planning his component of Operation Bagration he and his Frontโs military council decided on using two main thrusts to break through the German 9th Armyโs defenses instead of a single or concentric attack. One thrust would attack from 3rd Armyโs bridgehead toward Bobruisk before continuing on to Minsk while the other composed would attack through the Parichi area toward Slutsk.
When Rokossovsky presented his plan to Stalin and the General Staff, he reports that this incident occurred (1):
>Finally, the offensive plan was worked out at the Stavka on May 22 and 23. Our thoughts about the offensive of the troops of the left wing of the front in the Lublin direction were approved, but the decision for two strikes on the right wing was criticized. The Supreme Commander-in-Chief and his deputies insisted on delivering one main blow - from the

Before I actually begin, let me say that this is probably the strangest out of the three systems, less systemic and softer than the other two and more like an incoherent mess of different stuff. It is born out of my desire for a more ritualistic type of magic that doesn't involve direct communion with a spirit, something accessible to anyone. I wanted a dichotomy between this more occult system, and sorcery. Sorcery is fluid, spontaneous, flashy, and powerful. Thaumaturgy is rigid, subtle, and weak.
The main inspirations were two systems that happen to also be both called Thaumaturgy: The one in the Dresden Files novel series, and the one in the Exalted TTRPG. In my defense, I originally called this system Wizardry, but a friend suggested that people associate wizards with much greater power than I want thaumaturges to have, so I defaulted to the same term I was drawing from.
--
The use of sorcery has, over centuries and millennia, some unintended consequences. The world breaks a little bit. In very specific circumstances, causality doesn't behave as it used to, little glitches in reality happen. Thaumaturgy is the act of using those circumstances to achieve magical effects. Not by acts of will and directly channelling mana like sorcery, but with rituals.
I think of thaumaturgy kind of like metaphysical engineering. You can't create a river out of nowhere, but with the right blueprint and materials you can build a dam to redirect an existing one, or a bridge. The river doesn't care about your intent, it flows according to its surroundings.
For much of history, thaumaturgy was very poorly understood. Rituals were discovered mostly by accident and learnt by rote, or occasionally taught by spirits. Over

First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
In my opinion, the following tools are great to get started with data visualization, even if you only have basic design/programming skills!
I use it to build interactive web apps that allow users to not only see the data, but input their own information into the app.
Now to use it, you do need to have some basic Python knowledge, but itโs very easy to use, and itโs free!
One of the best tool to create various diagrams (flowcharts ), itโs free, and you donโt even need to login or register to use it.
This is a great tool to take your infographics to the next level, as it allows you to make them interactive.
Itโs a freemium tool, but the free plan is pretty generous, and pricing plans start from only 9.90!
I use it when I want to make whiteboard videos, works quite well if you want to make Youtube explainer videos or even ads. Paid plans start at 39$, which is pretty fair in my opinion.
This tool is kinda like Canva on steroids, you can use it to make presentations, social media graphics, infographicsโฆ I love to use it to make video infographics, like the ones that the Youtube channel Vox does for example. Compared to the other tools I have listed, itโs slightly more expensive (paid plans start at $49), but totally worth it in my opinion!
PS: I love dataviz so much, i made my own product called Polymer Search. I use it to create interactive web apps and charts (scatter plots, heat maps, etc.)ย Check it out and let me know what you think!

As the three boats were dragged onto the shore, John took his leave and excused himself from the ordeal of unloading gear and sorting through it all, choosing to instead almost shamble back to what was now also his home. He felt bitter, victory felt bitter, he had his time as soldier and wanted to be done with it. Nearly dying twice if not three times was enough to punch his ticket, let alone all the lives he took in turn.
With much of the village gathering by the river with their arrival, he walked into town without pomp or fanfare and into Ildra's home. He sat his spear in the corner nearest to the door and dropped his armor on the ground in front of it, getting the first real look at the beat up metal that he would be spending time later to clean. Kicking off his boots and socks, he went into the bedroom, laid his shirt and pants on a dresser, then crawled under the furs of the bed and passed out.
______
The door creaked open as Ildra slipped into her bedroom after a couple hours of dealing with refugees and war loot. She tapped him softly on the shoulder, which was enough to wake him this time. Normally he was a heavy sleeper and a couple hours would have him as still as a rock. "Dad wants to get the old barracks fixed and livable, are you going to join him?"
John groaned and nodded, then slowly slid the covers off and stood up. She couldn't avert her gaze, his body was covered in cuts, scars, and what he called bruises. His stomach was beginning to form lines horizontally and vertically, the six slight bumps adding contour to his pale body. He still had his underwear on, that Human garment being stained with blood just like the rest of his everyday wear. He saw where her eyes were slowly moving to and turned away, his face turning red. "I'll be out there now. About time I do something that doesn't involve fighting for my life."
He put on his fur pants and grabbed Ildra's brush, combing through his longer hair and growing facial hair. She gestured to her dresser, "are you going to put on a shirt?"
"That thing is filthy and reeks more than me, I'll be fine without. I'll just wear my red coat." He brushed his hair back and tucked th

I posted my previous thesis about half a year ago, and it was very well received by many people and is still being used as a reference today. But there is a problem, it doesnโt reflect my current views on where I think Rocket Pool will be in the future. I originally thought that it would be more appropriate if I gave my extremely conservative views on it (I lowered expectations and numbers) for a few reasons. It was a project that hadnโt launched yet when other staking services were just about going live back in December of 2020, and it was still being tested on the testnets. When I first posted my original thesis, I definitely put in a few conservative numbers to take it somewhat seriously.
In this updated thesis, Iโll be giving everyone my full expectation of Rocket Pool and where I think itโll go in the future (no holding back on this one). In this โupdatedโ thesis, Iโll be going over a ton of topics, so feel free to skip to what interests you. :) Some of the information will be a repeat of the first post (things that I think should be common knowledge when interacting with the Rocket Pool protocol), and others will be new, like the smoothing pool or staking yield arbitrage. Thereโs a lot to cover so letโs get started.
This is a derivative of ETH that really is an extremely pristine asset. It combines the deposit of ETH as well as the staking yield in its valuation. For the average hodler of ETH, theyโll have to decide if holding ETH is a better option than buying rETH, which will likely incur a taxable gain/loss depending on your tax jurisdiction. rETH is also a better form of collateral to be used in defi. When taking loans against ETH to borrow USDC or other assets it can be a little nerve racking since there's the possibility of getting liquidated. With rETH, defi users will be a little bit safer since the value of collateral will continue to rise compared to using plain old ETH.
Something I hear from time to time is people saying, โonce you stake with a CEX or a SaaS provider, you wonโt be able to withdraw those funds,โ and itโs true, but Rocket Pool is completely different because rETH exists. Some staking protocols have used a similar concept where theyโll issue a staking derivative and do some defi magic. As a result, there will be a soft peg for those tokens. Which brings up the question of what happens when that peg is broken? The result is a discount on the derivative, but currently, I donโt t
