I read a quote from a while back today that piqued my interest. It was from a video posted of a Chinese eating a snake on reddit and the top comment was this:
"I have some pet mantises. One time I went to pick up a big girl and she attacked my hand and latched on. I thought it was cute until she started eating me. Their jaws are like razor sharp scissors and their arms like fish hooks. And those arms dug in deep. I couldn't pull them out, and trying just made her lay her body flat against me and eat more ferociously. I paid $40 for this mantis, raising it from a baby smaller than a grain of rice, and didn't wanna rip her arms off. Fortunately she stopped biting for a bit to drink my blood. She was very thirsty, so she didn't stop for long. Her abdomen turned red. I only got her to let go by water boarding her. She left a divot and now I have a scar. They seem scarier now."
I was thinking that something like this is possible but I've never actually heard any first hand accounts (no pun intended)
Anyone else hear anything like this? Not trying to scare anyone but I'm just wondering. I know animals can be unpredictable but maybe this one was hungry or something?
They say they paid 40 bucks for a mantis the size of a grain of rice? Is it possible they were lying for karma or something?
I can't understand why it would attack in such a manner unless it was starving.

I think it was some businessman in the 80’s but I cannot find any info about it so my paraphrasing is terrible and it could be attributed to just about anyone.
