A list of puns related to "Roman Legion"
Title pretty much covers it, Master Chief And Black Panther (616) vs the Entire Roman army
Master chief is unarmed and Panther can only use his claws
Panther and Chief have 1 day to figure out Roman strategies
Romans can use every weapon they had at the time of the Roman Empire
In a history video I just watched that briefly discussed Legio VIIII Hispana , passing mention was made that the legion did not appear in either of two identical lists of 33 active legions that was written around 215 CE. Does anyone know if such lists exists, who wrote them, and if there is a link to the lists online?
Hello Friends
I created an alternate history telling the story of a roman legion leaving to Africa but arriving in the Americas at the reign of Trajan. I wrote parts I to IV and I am looking for feedbacks
Here is half of part I, hope you all enjoy
CHRONICLES OF LEGIO II TRAIANA
THE TALE OF THE LOST LEGION THAT CHANGED THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD
π·
TO BE IGNORANT OF WHAT OCCURRED BEFORE YOU WERE BORN IS TO REMAIN ALWAYS A CHILD. FOR WHAT IS THE WORTH OF HUMAN LIFE, UNLESS IT IS WOVEN INTO THE LIFE OF OUR ANCESTORS BY THE RECORDS OF HISTORY
*β*QUINTUS TULLIUS CICERO******************
XXVII YEAR IN THE NEW WORLD
This is the story about the lost soldiers of the Legio II Traiana, as told by me, Octavius, son of Fabius, Roman Centurion born at the frontier land of Trace and proclaimed Augustus by our people. It is my wish to put down in words the story that many of you may already know, but that may be soon lost or distorted through time since those who were there and witnessed it all are now gradually leaving this world for time waits for no one.
My goal is ensuring that our future generations can know the exact truth about how they ended up in this strange and yet so familiar and inviting tropical new world, as well as a little bit about the amazing deeds of their ancestors, the Romans, who build the biggest and richest empire the world have ever seen, but that is completely out of reach for us.
I will try my best to remember as many details as possible, and be as impartial as I can, but my body is beginning to fail and I sense the creator will soon call for my soul. You see, I have seen 73 winters and summers, most of them, especially those during the voyage and after arriving here, have been really rough on my body. So please forgive me if I fail to mention important facts and names or if I am not too specific on dates, for as you may recall, most of our documents were lost in those initial years, and most of my friends who endured those days and who were responsible for making sure we could live through are now long gone. I will try to leave personal details behind and focus on the facts, but certain experiences shapes a men in such a way that makes it hard for him to forget and not talk about.
It all started 27 years ago, on the 20th year of the reign of Trajan, when I was still praying for the pagan Gods, at the Prime of my life and full

I'd like to know if there is any info or not about if legions had their own individual design patterns for their scutums.
And if so, could anybody able to send any links where I could find somewhat accurate digital pictures of these designs?
Please and thanks to those who read this.
It's not hard to find information on the original Imperial 28 legions, when most of them were founded, what their names were, etc. But I've had a lot of trouble finding information on the origins names or numbers of the legions that existed before.
I know Gaius Marinus started recruiting them around between 107 to 101 BC, and I know Pompey recruited at least three from Northern Italy, but I can't find information on it who these legions were, how many of them there were what their names or numbers were. Even Caesars original four, the ones he was given with his governorship of Southern Gaul the 7th 8th 9th and 10th I can't find information on and they were actually founded?
Who were the Roman legions recruited between 107 and 59 BC?
Thank you.
theres an term where roman legions would choose over the fire nation due to its red and black coloured uniforms there were 2 types,(not 2 types but there were more) of roman legion divisions such as the. "Augustus' Eighth Legion" for its blue uniform to join the water nation with the "Augustus' Second Legion" for its red uniform, to join the fire nation and the "Sixth Ironclad Legion" (this one was the only green division i could find)(and yes there were normal, roman legions but couldnt suit for the wind kingdom) what do u think these 3 empires do go to war on eachother or make peace or naturalise themselves pick a choice to who will Rule the water nation the earth kingdom or wind nation your choice. (this is a fandom pls dont take it seriously)(the title was wrong i was suppose to type if the 4 roman legions could stay on one land not 2 leaders)
If you read about the Roman legion's field fortifications, e.g., this excellent article, you learn that the legionaries build quite elaborate camps to defend themselves on a campaign. Now I have to wonder, how they actually organized marching and building these fortifications?
If you consider marching like a soldier, it is a pretty exhausting activity. Over tracks, with only light baggage, I once managed around 65km in less than 24h (I don't remember exactly how long this exercise took us) and was basically unable to perform any coordinated task after the march. Wehrmacht soldiers famously recalled doing 50-60km daily when retreating from the Red Army. So I think it is safe to assume that a Roman legionary didn't make much more than 30km per day given the terrain, the increased baggage, and assuming they march on the offensive. But even this reduced distance would not give them much daylight to build a camp, would it?
Setting up these fortifications would require quite some heavyweight material that must be sourced locally. That sourcing would require several hours of daylight. Construction itself is also physically exhausting and probably cannot be done after marching a significant distance. It seems completely impractical to conquer Gaul by stopping every 10-20km to set up shop.
So when did a legion actually move, camp in the open, or set up such a fortification? Were these camps only built when a legion stayed put for some time, e.g. during winter or a siege? Were they meant as a base for detaching smaller details? If they did not build a wooden palisade every time they stopped for the night, how did they guard effectively against raiders?
Logistically speaking, the furries have suits on and have minimal protection, but this would be more so a battle of attrition. Roman's have enhanced battle tactics of course, but let's say the furries have some basic knowledge of the Roman's strategies. Who would win?
Have a huge family that eventually takes over each neighborhood. Use Roman names and appoint a ruler to be Cesar. I'm sure there's royalty mods, but console people will have to roll play.
Right now Marcus Agustus, and his brother Troy are working on building their empire. 1 is an artist, and the other is a scientist. Very soon we'll have enough to open a gallery. My sights are on the big city. Nina calente is pregnant with the first heir...or heiress of the Agustus legion.
Extra points if you have people dress in the Roman armor.. π
Average 5 seated cars being teleport back in time on a plane grass field to face one roman legion 100 meters away(its the first time they see cars). Cars all got a full tank, with an average man inside, no additional weapons or gears, if the car is down they may fight, though it's also possible some cars got captured. No surrender allowed from both side. How many cars do you need to defeat the enemy?
By 1943 the war has not been going well for Italy. Allied troops have occupied Sicily and are preparing to invade naples. The population is on the verge of rebellion. But then by some miracle...millions of dead roman legionaires get resurrected en masse and fight to protect the motherland! Can they prevent the allied invasion of Italy?!
Every single Roman Soldier (anyone who was part of the Roman army at some point) who has ever died in Italy from 753 B.C to 476 A.D (On the battlefield, from disease, from old age, any reason) is resurrected to how they were before they died, in the exact location they died, with all their gear. They don't know what has happened in history up until this point, nor do they know the type of weapons the allies are using, but they will take orders from all italian generals and will fight loyally to protect the italian peninsula (they will know italian). Nothing else in the timeline changes.
The de jure empire of Hispania has been replaced by the kingdom of the visigoth if I reconquered it as the western Roman empire will I be able to reform legio VII gemina from gallecia
Trying to make some Roman legion-style freeguild for my Stormkeep army, does Warlord Games' models match well size-wise compared to GW models or are there better options out there?
Every Battle, every ruler, every dynasty they never seem to lose a single battle. Which is bewildering to me considering the phalanx won the East by defeating Persia and held down the majority of the eastern Mediterranean for hundreds of years yet was always at a loss against the Roman Legions.
Battle takes place on an open field. Romans have access to weapons and logistics they would traditionally have at the time versus a hostile Smaug. Battle doesn't end until one side is completely wiped out.
