I recently read Tinderbox by Rachel Grant and loved it so much!

The heroine is an archeologist on the threshold of a major archeological discovery in Africa and gets embroiled and becomes a target in a local geo-political situation. She is offered protection by the hero and his team of US army special forces stationed in the area.

I accidentally stumbled upon this book and went into it with super low expectations and it turned out to be fantastic! I loved everything about this book! The story was fast paced, intelligent, engaging, and the chemistry between the leads was off-the-charts hot.

Best part was that the story didn’t half-ass its way through the scientific details and I appreciated the technical narrative while discussing archeology and geology. I also loved the attention to detail while weaving a story around a complex geo-political situation. That is super rare to see in a romance book. Kudos to the author for doing such great research!

I love intelligent storytelling. I love hot romance and chemistry between the leads. And this book delivered on all fronts.

Looking for similar recommendations for romance with suspense and an intelligent plot! Bonus points for a hero in military/special forces!

I spent WAY TOO MUCH MONEY this week on buying books. I keep downloading samples and then saying "fuck it" when the sample is up and purchasing. As much as I want to read more by her I can't afford it right now.

Any similar books that you know of on Unlimited? I really loved her writing style and the plot was amaze balls.

I'm on the third book in the Evidence series (not enjoying the third nearly as much as the first two) and my god it is great. I'm not used to romantic suspense and like the sturdy, suspiciously single and loyal straight male best friend it turns out it's been exactly what I've needed all along.

A major failing I've found in some (not all) other romance series is that it's basically the same characters with different hair colours falling in love in basically the same way and having the same kind of sex in each book. Not the case so far in this series and I'm enjoying the hell out if it.

Anyway, I'm bringing nothing new to the party here. Concrete Evidence was a 5 star for me with Body of Evidence as a 4.5. Withholding Evidence is rocking a 3 star but I have high hopes for Incriminating Evidence which I hope to get stuck into this evening.

Not plot wise but I’m looking for a female spy mostly. Or she’s in the CIA. I want her to be in a dangerous profession and ideally alone.

Formerly from my neighborhood, Powell was armed with an ice ax and directed ramrodding through a window during the insurrection attempt. A gun, ammunition, ropes, and destroyed cell phones were found in her home. She was initially released to house arrest as she as she had several children to care for(whom she has since lost custody of). She appeared in court to answer charges of violating release conditions which required she wear a Covid mask in public. She wore an open weave mesh mask flaunting the requirement, but the judge let her remain free when she apologized. In November she was granted a two month delay to consider a plea agreement and now has been granted another two months as she wants another defense attorney and the court has complied. This stinks!

This quote is fascinating for a number of reasons.

1. It illustrates that even a believing member, who really believes she could go to Hell for not following the prophet, would still not obey because of a moral system superior to "Follow the prophet"

2. Her best friend in the world (Sarah Kimball) married Joseph, I don't know if Rachel was aware that she was basically calling her best friend a "whore".

3. Rachel Ivins is known for victorian-era principles. Here, a woman married in a polygamous relationship is called "a whore".

4. Given Rachel's proximity to all the individuals involved in polygamy (i.e. her family helped print the Nauvoo Expositor, her best friend was a plural wife of Joseph, she was often at the Smith home and knew the parties intimately) it is clear she had a "working knowledge" of polygamy. She definitely implies that the marriages were not "for eternity only", but very much carnal in nature.

All this, and she gave birth to a future prophet who would be an apostle throughout the polygamy conflicts in the church. [EDIT: [SOURCE](Lucy Grant Cannon to Truman G. At least one relative claims that Joseph actually proposed and she said this, it is not 100% clear that he did.

It's a good T-shirt worthy slogan that one might be able to give out at a Youth event, without the youth and leaders knowing that it was a put-down of Joseph Smith's behavior.

So rachel brought 3 things that Gustang wanted the most. One the bracelet of hidden floor, two wangnans ring. What could be third. So in the whole manhwa rachel had only one more valuable items with her which is EMILY. Now why would Gustang need EMILY? Well i was reading the wiki about Gustang. There it says he is very interested in guides abilities to see crossroads or fate and wants to research on it but it is a forbidden area to delve into. EMILY as we know literally disrupts the ability of guides and misguides them. I wont go into detail how. But this fact should come into Gustangs attention somehow. So he probably wants to research on it and see its capabilities. He may even expand its potential, as its an ignition weapon the next time we see rachel with it will be an op weapon of its own.

I remember in my house when the Amy Grant scandal broke. She was one of my favourites that I was allowed to listen to, without having it censored. I could play the whole record (lol). After her divorce all of a sudden, we were no longer allowed to listen to her, as she became a “corrupting influence”.
