A list of puns related to "Qiblah"
Allah Ta'ala says: "And from wherever you go out (for prayer), turn your face toward al-Masjid al-Ḥaram. And wherever you (believers) may be, turn your faces toward it so that the people will not have any argument against you, except for those of them who commit wrong; so fear them not but fear Me. And (it is) so I may complete My favor upon you and that you may be guided."
[Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 150]
I know I can just use my phone, or even a regular compass if I know what direction qiblah will be myself, but thought it'd be cool to have an actual compass that points towards qiblah regardless of where I'm located. Please let me know if anyone can help out! جزاكم الله خيرا.
وعليكم السلام ورحمة الله وبركاته!
Someone gave me a compass with the Qiblah marked on it, but then I realized that compasses only work based on magnetic cardinal directions, and it's kind of useless if you are using it in a different location than the location it was originally marked in if that makes sense. Like let's say it says to face East but you are standing just east of the Qiblah then it would be wrong because you need to face west. So I just realized I have no idea if I've ever prayed facing the right way.
Used the prayer app. Can confirm I've been praying the wrong way for my entire time as a Baha'i.

Like historically, are there Muslim writers or thinkers who question that it must be Mecca? Even if thats zindiq?
Let's say my usual praying position in the world globe is at North-West on the compass. Could I also face at South-East? It is still facing the qiblah if we're using the globe.
Sorry if it's a stupid question.
Is there a reliable app or any other way how I can find the direction towards the Qiblah? Many people say that we have to face the direction where the sun rises. Is that true for all parts of the world?
Hello!
I just found out that there is such a thing as a "qiblah compass" to tell the praying direction. I am not muslim, and have never used such a compass. Please tell me, how does it work? Do you have any pictures of one?
I am a geograpy teacher and would like to explore this compass more.
Greetings.
When he was alive, when did the Baha'is turn their face to pray ?
EDIT : If Baha'u'llah himself was the Qiblah, I'd like to know how the believers and Baha'u'lalh used to perform their prayers ?
After the Emigration, for a period of sixteen months, our Prophet and the Muslims prayed facing the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, which was also the qiblah, or direction to Prayer, for the Jews. When in Mecca, the Messenger of Allah had prayed facing Jerusalem and the Ka’ba would also be standing in front of him. After emigrating to Medina, uniting the two was no longer possible. The Messenger of Allah missed facing the Ka’ba while praying.
One day, he had said to the Archangel Gabriel,
“O Gabriel! I truly wish for Allah the Almighty to turn my face from the qiblah of the Jews to the Ka’ba.”
Gabriel had answered,
“Pray to your Lord, ask for this from Him.”
Thereafter, our Prophet started raising his head to the skies every time he stood for Prayer. The verse,
“(Now the time has come, so) turn your face towards the Sacred Mosque. (And you, O believers,) turn your faces towards it wherever you are” (al-Baqarah 2:144) was revealed.
Allah the Almighty had appointed the Ka’ba as the new qiblah and from then on, the Muslims started to pray facing the Ka’ba. These new developments had happened to fall on a Monday in the beginning of the seventeenth month after the Emigration. Our Prophet had happened to be in the Banu Salama neighborhood that day. It was the time for Noon Prayer and so, he stood in Prayer together with his Companions in the masjid there. They had prayed only two rakahs, or units, and the command to turn towards the Ka’ba came to him while still in Prayer. The Messenger of Allah turned and the congregation behind him turned as well. It was after this incident that the masjid in the Banu Salama was named*, “The Masjid with Two Qiblahs.”*
Two months later, in the second of the holy months, the month of Shaban, the fasting in Ramadan was deemed obligatory, or fard.
From Abu Khadeejah's website:
'Answer: This a good question. The fact is that “Dhikr beads”, pebbles, seeds, etc, were available in the time of the Prophet (ﷺ) and his Companions, yet they never used them to count the glorifications (dhikr) of Allah, rather they shunned such methods even though they had access to them. As for the use of a compass, then the compass was not a tool available to the Prophet and his Companions, so instead they would use whatever was available to them to determine the direction of the Qiblah as occurs in the hadeeth of Jaabir (may Allah be pleased with him) who said:
“We were with Allaah’s Messenger on a campaign, and it became cloudy. We tried to determine the qiblah and differed concerning it, so each man prayed on his own, and each of us marked the direction he faced so that he could check it later. The following morning we looked and found that we had prayed facing a direction other than the qiblah. We told the Prophet (ﷺ) and he did not instruct us to repeat it and he said: “Your prayer is valid.” (Reported by Al-Haakim and others; and authenticated by Al-Abaanee in Al-Irwaa, no. 291)
This hadeeth indicates that a Muslim should try his best with the means he has to seek the Qiblah direction, and that could include, looking to the stars, the Sun, or in these times a compass or a phone app.'

Yāqūt Al-Ḥamawī said: ‘In Gaza, Al-Imam Abū ʿAbdullah Muḥammad Bin Idrīs Ash-Shāfiʿī was born, may Allah be pleased with him. As a child he moved to the Hijāz and acquired knowledge there, and it is related from him that he remembered [Gaza] by saying:
Indeed I yearn for the land of Gaza
To be taken far away from it is the cause of my silence
Allah sends rain upon a land; if only I had taken some of its earth
I would rub it on my eyelids out of my intense yearning

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
Do your worst!
I'm surprised it hasn't decade.
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies 😂
It really does, I swear!
