Recommendations for Limo companies Moscow/Pullman

Greetings, I'm from the East Coast and trying to arrange limousine service for a pre-wedding party for my son. The internet shows me lots of companies that don't seem local - and nothing listed on Craigslist. Anyone have any recommendations for limos in the Moscow/Pullman area that are reputable? TIA

We should not and must not cooperate with the Alt-Right/Fascists.

With Reddit going to the stock market, there have been discussions on here on how to proceed and which platforms to move this community to, if any. In that context as well as others, some people have suggested an alliance/truce with the Alt Right and other authoritarian groups that are nominally anti-capitalist, or to "convert" members of these groups to the antiwork cause. I do not intend to call out individual posts, but I feel I must state that, at least in my opinion, this is not an option worth considering.

We do not want these people to march together with us; they will inevitably turn this movement into a machine to murder minorities, and will then continue the capitalist system. They love and are loved by cops and billionaires, and shoot protesters in the street. They are the willing servants of the very system this movement is standing against, they just don't like the skin color and religion of some of the people at the top of the pecking order. As such, we should not assume that they work from the same basic premise ("The exploitation of workers is bad, therefore it should be ended.") as us. They will happily indulge capitalism, as long as they are able to hold part of the reins.

Fascist movements have always preyed on the disaffected, and are particularly popular with the lower middle-class, which fears losing what commodities it has and becoming impoverished (see Robert Evans' podcast two-parter "How Nice Normal People Made The Holocaust Possible" for an overview of this topic). But for all their anticapitalist bluster, fascists are allies of capital and exploitation, and their societies always have an exploited underclass of people who are essentially enslaved to ensure the wealth and prosperity of the upper classes. They apply the horrors of modern colonialism, an inherently capitalist venture, to their own countries. The more modern fascist regimes have been active allies and supporters of neoliberalism, and have served as an inspiration for the very mode of exploitation we are still suffering under today.

Fascists may pretend that they are anti-capitalist, but they truly are just antisemitic, and will happily fill the seats of killed capitalist members of minorities wit

My experience testing positive.

Hello Everyone,

I’ve been following this sub for a while in preparation for a trip to Thailand with my wife. In following this sub, I’ve seen a whole ton of posts asking what happens if you were to test positive as a tourist in Thailand and If anyone out there had actually contracted it while away.

Well, my wife and I were unlucky enough to have contracted COVID-19 while in vacation in Thailand, so here is your extremely long and detailed datapoint.

A few disclaimers to get out of the way before I get into it here.

  • This was our experience only. I have heard some other peoples stories and they have not necessary mirrored our experience

  • This post is NOT designed to try and scare you away from going to Thailand or traveling at this time at all. This is merely meant to be information so that you know what COULD happen and you can take necessary precautions. The more you know about what you’re getting into before you go, the less blindsided you’ll be if things do go wrong. I standby my opinion that it’s safe to travel to and in Thailand given how serious they take the virus. We just got unlucky, really unlucky.

Alright, here we go…

My wife and I entered Thailand in mid November but entered via the COE. We completed our COE and decided to enter as part of the Phuket Sandbox program before the new test and go scheme or the Thailand pass systems were formally announced. Once we had our COE approved and all that, we decided to just stick with our original plan because it had already been approved and we didn’t want to mess anything up by re-applying for the Thailand pass.

A few days before flying, we took our negative PCR tests and had no issues there. When we landed in Phuket, we of course had to take yet another PCR test. We found out once we arrived at our Sandbox hotel that this was also negative, so we were good to go. We had a great time in Phuket, ate a ton, and got around to pretty well of the major sites on the island.

A few days before we left for Phuket, we had heard that the 2nd PCR test on day 6 was to be replaced by an antigen test that you were to administer yourself. We were given these antigen tests when we arrived at the airport in Phuket and held onto them until day 6 when we both took them. We took the Antigen tests and these also were negative. We had taken a total of 3 negative tests up until this point for those counting.

On day 7, we checked out of our Sandbox hotel and were given our Sandbox completion certificat

Charted Courses And Chance Currents - The Log of One Year Along the Voyage of Life - Scotloand, Homeward Bound, and Epilogue

*Posters Preface*: I recently was given memoirs that were written by my Great Grandfather, Stanley Dalbec. I am working on transitioning this to a word document and wanted to share the stories with this group as I found them highly interesting and gives the reader a good understanding of what life was like for an officer in the Navy during WW2. Please enjoy.*

Scotland

We had left the Scylla at Scapa Flow, been ferried across to Thurso, on the northern tip of Scotland, and sent by train down to Glasgow, arriving on September 25, a little less than two weeks after we had been sunk.

HMS Scylla

Arriving in Glasgow, we were once again under the direction of the U.S. Navy Port Liaison Office, Gourock, The Clyde. We U.S. Navy survivors numbered six officers and 107 enlisted men. It turned out that, through the small differences in dates of rank, I was the senior survivor, so I was given written orders to take charge of them. This made things orderly on the Liaison Officer’s books, but was essentially meaningless. We stayed and went where the shore establishment directed.

At the square in Glasgow, known as Charing Cross, the hotel there had been taken over by the American Red Cross. Servicemen on leave in Glasgow could stay there for seventy-five cents a night.

They set up cots in the ballroom of the hotel

Nationalized American Rail Network: Revised Lore

You may remember that three years ago, I made this headcanon regarding a nationalized American rail network under the Progressive Party. Since then, I've revised it greatly to make it a bit more realistic.

One thing that doesn't change is that the 2ACW is still averted (I'm mainly going off the Kaiserredux mod here) after George Norris won the 1936 election and righted the boat.

Anywho, let's begin:

Prelude

With Huey Long and Jack Reed satisfied by a relief bill and William H. Murray, leader of the Old Democratic Party, arrested, President Norris turned to other matters. Chief among them was reviewing the United States Army, namely the debate over doctrine; ultimately, Leslie McNair's reforms involving massed artillery strikes was chosen.

Among Norris' priorities, however, was completely restructuring American society. He termed his reforms "capitalism with socialist characteristics", a fancy way of saying "social democracy". His biggest achievement was abolishing the archaic Electoral College, with all future presidential elections decided by the popular vote. But what usually gets lost among his achievements is the reorganization of the entire government.

One of the lesser examples was renaming the various departments to "administrations". For example, the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) was renamed the "United States Justice Administration" (USJA), the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) was renamed the "United States Agricultural Administration" (USAA, not to be confused with the United Services Automobile Association), and the United States Department of Transportation (DOT) was renamed the "United States Transit Administration" (USTA).

Formation of the United States Transit Administration

The formation of the USTA coincided with the nationalization of almost all forms of transportation in the United States. Each sub-administration was as follows:

  • United States Highway Administration (USHA), responsible for the highway system
  • United States Bus Administration (USBA), responsible for all bus services, both city and long-distance
  • United States Mass Transit Administration (USMTA), responsible for all streetcar and subway operations
  • United States Shipping Administration (USSA), responsible for all trucking and maritime trade, both ocean and river; this included nationalizing United States Lines and Matson, and all

Reccomend Proper Fantasy Books Please, Oh Peers Who Understand the Brilliance of Honzuki

I'm going to do it.

I'm going to venture out into the world of proper non lightnovel/non webnovel fantasy books for the sake of myself and everyone else who hasn't gotten knees deep into that world and yet consumes bookworm like (spoiler part 2 vol 1 (book4)) >!starved children locked in the temple orphanage.!<

I thirst for solid worlds and deep characters who stay true to their characteristics beyond the convenience of plot and audience appeal. I am willing to grind my mental cogs a little bit to digest something thicker to get to it, too.

Pls--help!

I humbly request title recommendations. Other light novels and webnovels...are not enough. Time to come of age and tie my hair up! πŸ˜– Proper fantasy books.

I aim to create a sort of guide to the appeals of honzuki and how to quench your thirst elsewhere between (or immediately after) release, specifically tied to this series.

Unrelated sidenote, but the closest thing I've seen so far to the swirly art neauveau-like designs on noble's clothing in honzuki is Tolkein fanart? Specifically elves. If anybody needed that inspo for some visual quenching side ohoho.

Note: thank you, everyone!! Its going to take me a long time to sort through reviews and ratings, let alone read all of these, but here is my list of the recommendations I got below:

Dad jokes are supposed to be jokes you can tell a kid and they will understand it and find it funny.

This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.

If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.

The M4 Sherman, officially Medium Tank, M4, was the most widely used medium tank by the United States and Western Allies in World War II. The M4 Sherman proved to be reliable, relatively cheap to produce, and available in great numbers. It was also the basis of several other armored fighting vehicles including self-propelled artillery, tank destroyers, and recovery vehicles. Tens of thousands were distributed through the Lend-Lease program to the British Commonwealth and Soviet Union. The tank was named by the British for the American Civil War general William Tecumseh Sherman.[citation needed]

What if James Weaver of the People's Party became President in 1892 and his party won a majority in either the House, the Senate or both? What reforms would he be able to implement, how would he respond to events like the Panic, what would his foreign policy look like, and would he get reelected?

In the OTL James Weaver and other reformers formed the People's Party and ran in the 1892 election. The ran on a platform on the following campaign points:

  • Direct popular election of U.S. Senators
  • Direct initiatives and referendums to let voters vote on laws.
  • enaction of a free silver policy
  • enaction of a graduated income tax
  • Public ownership of the railroads, telegraph, and telephone systems,
  • federal warehouses for farmers to enable them to stabilize prices for their crops,
  • an eight-hour workday for laborers.
  • lower tariff rates
  • a new banking system regulated by the government that was more favorable to farmers, like establishing more subtreasuries to help more farmers cooperatives

They lost the election in the OTL, but what if his party won in the Presidency in 1892 and they also got a majority in the House or Senate, or both? How many of their reforms would they be able to implement, how would they react to the following issues, and events below, and would they be able to win reelection in 1896?

Issues:

  • Railroads - Many railroad industries were overbuilt and suffered from mismanagement and fraud. To make money railroads competed by offering rebates (discounts) and kickbacks to favored shippers while charging exorbitant freight rates to smaller customers like farmers. To tackle this would Weaver and the Populists a) nationalize the railroads, or b) enact stronger regulations through existing regulations like the Interstate Commerce Act (1887) and new regulations similar to the Elkins Act (1903) and the Hepburn Act (1906)?
  • Trusts - Many people were concerned that trust companies like U.S. Steel and Standard Oil were gaining too much power so they passed the Sherman Antitrust Act. However, any efforts to enforce the act were hampered by the 1895 court decision US vs. E.C. Knight Co. Would Weaver and the Party be successful in busting trusts or would their efforts be hampered by the Supreme Courts decision?
  • Money Policy - Many people wanted money to backed by silver or go back to greenbacks instead of the gold standard which favored groups like bankers, investors, and established businesses. However any attempts to promote a free silver policy were discouraged by the Panic of 1893 which lead to a decline in silver prices. What would Weaver's money policy look like and would it be successful?
  • Labor Unions - Many Unions wanted to give workers the right to organize and be granted fair wages, but many administrations during the gild
