A list of puns related to "Periapsis"
The plan is to treat it like an asteroid capture: Grab it, pull it back into LKO, and then figure out a safe re-entry.
But unlike an asteroid, I control both ships. So should I set my "asteroid's" periapsis way out past Minmus in order to be somewhat slower, or in close to Kerbin so it's easier to intercept?
No matter what I do, the target vessel's orbital velocity relative to Kerbin will be between 5,000 and 6,000 m/s throughout its fly-by.

Hi All.
Above is the question in question, a precursor to the GMAT problem. (3rd Year University). In all honestly, i have no idea where to start. With the complete lack of any given variables other than J_2 (0.00108263).
I assume that omega is 0 because the procession is 0 however I am not confident in this. I am perfectly capable of rearranging for i. My problem is the lack of information for determining n and p.
Also, what does it mean by "stable argument of periapsis"? I get the feeling that the means of getting more information is in understanding this.
Any advice is most welcome. Thank you.
So I am working on some orbital stuff and I need to prove the semi-major axis equation that goes like:
a = (apoapsis + periapsis) / 2
as well as the semi-minor axis one, which is:
b^(2) = apoapsis * periapsis
Now, I am a high school student and this stuff is not yet trivial to me. I need someone to at least explain to me how to go about proving these equations because I am currently lost.
Can someone please tell me the Apoapsis and Periapsis around the moon during the Apollo missions, such as Apollo 8, 10, 11, etc etc. Also, if you can, please can you send it in Kilometres?
Thank you for reading.
Hi, I'm quite new to this game and I've just gotten into orbit. I was wondering how I can turn on the Apoapsis and Periapsis markers in the map as I gotta figure out how to get back home. Thanks in advance.
I just recently got KSP and have been following some tutorials to get started. When I was trying and finally got to orbit there are no apoapsis and periapsis tags on my orbit path.
Am I just being stupid?
itβs probably some super obvious setting somewhere, but iβve been googling for twenty minutes and canβt find it. iβve clicked and i clicked every button at the top of the screen in the map but nothings changed

Hey all,
I've had this clan as a mostly solo player for a long time, and I wanted to open it up to other folks who maybe want to be in a clan and get rewards etc. but aren't looking for a huge commitment to a tight-knit clan community. If Periapsis naturally develops into that over time, that's cool, but know that you're not stepping into a group of people who already know each other super well and will be expecting you to try and integrate yourself into their ranks as soon as possible.Clans are one of the great things about Destiny 2, and the environment of Periapsis is most definitely chill, friendly, and conducive to growth. If there's desire we can most definitely run raids, conquer GMs, or queue up playlists together; I can't promise results in Trials or Comp, but if that's your thing you are still most definitely welcome, and we can have a go. However, there's not an expectation that if you join, you will by default be obliged to play activities with clanmates. If this clan ends up being a group of solo players who all just do their own thing and collect engrams from Hawthorne, that is totally fine by me.New players, especially those who do not have a group to play with but who want to have a place to ask questions or get help, are also very welcome. This clan started way back when I myself was a New Light and I've been going it solo basically since then, and in my experience even solo play is greatly enriched by having folks to help out here and there (as of right now the best verification I can offer that Periapsis will actually be able to help you is that I myself have SF Prophecy, Gilded Conqueror, 14 each DSC and VoG, and personally know many high-quality sherpas much more distinguished than myself from other clans that would also be willing to offer advice until Periapsis gets on its feet, both for PvE and PvP. Dunno if that helps anyone who's apprehensive, but it may so I'll include it). Naturally, there is no expectation of meeting a certain skill threshold to be considered for admission or anything like that.
The guidelines to join are:
I know I'm probably doing something wrong or forgot something simple, but when I'm in the map/zoomed out view, where I can see my trajectory; why when I have an orbit around the planet, is my apoapsis and Periapsis not visible? Sorry if it's a dumb question, I'm new
I tend to be a bit lazy about my piloting and make up for it by over-building my ships, so I almost never split a burn unless it'll be longer than ten minutes or so.
What about you? What's your cut-off?
When I watch guides on YouTube I see the line indicating the ships course and a marker for the apoapsis and the periapsis in the map view. In my game I only see the course but no markers. Do I have to unlock this?
I would like to start with, I'm still kinda new to KSP. I sent a Kerbal into orbit and I was playing with nodes and what not, trying to get to the Mun.. Well one thing lead to another, I deployed ALL my stages (except parachute obviously) accidentally, by hitting X and then panicking and hitting X again like it were some kind of toggle.. I figured, since the periapsis LOOKS like it collides with Earth "No worries, I'll just time warp around this joint and get home." WRONG. We begin fighting the fires of hell for what I assumed was re-entry. WRONG. I was on the dark side of the planet so I couldn't see it well, but well enough to know where to point the heat shield cuz navball. WRONG. I then realize I'm heating up anyway and the heat is dispersing off the side of me. I point that way. I survived the fire, but my altitude climbed higher... ΰ² _ΰ² Would I be better off going to collect him out in space a ways, somewhere on his orbit away from or even returning to Kerbin? Or do I try and catch him speeding through the thermosphere, which sounds dangerous, difficult, and kind of awesome?
I was working with the Vis-viva equation and I can't exactly find a proper answer to something that's been bugging me. Does periapsis/apoapsis refer to the shortest/longest distance between the satellite and the central planet or does it mean the distance between their centres of mass?
