A list of puns related to "Parasite Eve"
Yo yo yo, what's good guys? Parasite Eve! Oh man, as a kid whose cousins and older brother played JRPGs and Survival Horror on the PS1 in the 90s, this game was awesome. I loved both 1 and 2. 1 definitely had the better music. Yoko Shimomura man! 2 was definitely had a nice Resident Evil atmosphere though. I loved it. I remember 1 more from my childhood though. Though I know for a fact my brother played Parasite Eve 2, when I was a kid! I could never forget that one boss with the flamethrower in his mouth, and he was huge! That stuck with me. Lol.
I feel like no one talks about these old games anymore. PS1 and SNES had suuuuch good JRPGs. I STILL gotta play them. There's so many I haven't touched.
(Btw, did anyone get a Native American vibe from the Ark in 2? I thought that was really cool. Especially that one pyramid, that has like a male singing voice, if you step on the squares in the corner. I love history man.)
On another note, anyone play RE2 remake? Yooo what about Mr. X. He gonna give it to ya'! Oh man, I loved his whole mechanic. That's probably a different subreddit though. Lol.
Your opinions on it?
Hello there!
Parasite Eve is, as of now, the most succesful song of the Post Human: Survival Horror EP/LP.
It has it's 1 year anniversary today, and I followed its streaming data quite closely, so here are some (maybe) interesting numbers for you guys.
Only a month after it's release, the song had a whopping 14.000.000 streams on Spotify already. The only song that was released on Spotify since I follow the band (early 2018) that performed better in it's first month was Teardrops with 15.000.000 streams, but that number might have been pushed by the album release just 2 weeks after the single released. Parasite Eve also peaked on No. 1 in the UK Rock and Metal charts.
Now, a full year after the release of Parasite Eve, it has 75.000.000 streams in total, which is absolutely huge! The music video on YouTube has 27.000.000 views as of now.
For comparison: Ludens had 40.000.000 streams on Spotify 12 months after it's release (and has 60.000.000 right now).
Just behind MANTRA, Parasite Eve is the second most streamed BMTH song since TTS. And it might catch up to MANTRA soon, since October MANTRA got from 92.000.000 streams to 107.000.000 while Parasite Eve went from 30.000.000 to those 75.000.000, so it is catching up.
So, while Parasite Eve has been hugely successful in those last 12 months, how do you like it? Did you listen to the "improved" version on the physical release of the album, and if so, which one do you like better?
And, since the release of PH:SH has been a while ago, which song of it do you like the most after the last months? Has your opinion on some of the songs changed since the album released?
Hey all! Everything has been tested and working. Happy to post pics of anything that you would like to see.

This game is right up their alley. I didn't play it as a kid, don't have any nostalgia for it. But I watched someone play it a year or two ago. And I was amazed. Nothing like I imagined!
It's a bit like Resident Evil, a bit like a weird real time RPG, and has all these great moments. The setting is really cool too.
Would absolutely love to see them play it!
(Or a full Detention LP. They're still missing out big on that. They'd absolutely love it if they played it together without an audience. The story sticks with you forever)
Played this on an emulator (OpenEmu/mednafen), but I do have a physical copy of this game. This is rather rare since this game was never released in the EU and I live in Germany. It did cost me 130 Deutsche Mark (around 65β¬ without inflation) back then. I also had to mod my PS1 to be able to play imported games on it. That cost again around 100 Deutsche Mark (50β¬). This was a lot of money back then when I was in school. When I played it on my (cheap) CRT TV there was a red stripe on the upper right corner and the screen was slightly distorted. I assume this was because of the higher refresh rate of the NTSC games and my monitor could barely cope with it.
But enough of my life story with this games. I wanted also to explain how it feels playing it after 20+ years again.
The CGI graphics back then were top notch (on the cover the game is labeled a "The Cinematic RPG", quite fitting). Squaresoft always did bleeding edge CGI. They still hold up well after 20 years and give the game a grim/gory setting. Especially the introduction CGI is rather gruesome for a Square (J)RPG. It immediately established itself as an horror RPG.
I actually liked the story, although it is completely non-sense of course (it is a game after all, I just want to be entertained and don't experience accurate biological hard sci-fi :)). But I have a faible for this biological-medic-horror settings. The existence of mitochondrial DNA I learned from this game, because it is _all_ over this game.
The fighting system is quite unique after all the similar ATB systems in Squaresoft games. It is still ATB, but with real-time components. You can run around and also the enemies move around. Touching them drains your health, so you have to avoid contact with them. If it is your turn for an attack, a range sphere opens and you can see how far your attack will reach. You can attack one enemy multiple times or many multiple enemies one time. This give it a little strategic component. I found the areas to small actually. The fight happen on the in-game screens. Often there was too less room to maneuver or avoid physical attacks of an enemy.
Upgrading the weapons was surprisingly fun. You can "consume" inferior weapons to upgrade your current weapon. Destroying them in the process. Tools are needed for this, so you can't do this infinitely. Physical weapons are "real" weapons, real pistols, automatic guns and a rocket launcher. Since the setting is a real (not a fantasy) New York, this is quite fi
... keep reading on reddit β‘I can't find it anywhere just Parasite eve 1 and 2, I also checked the PSP section, I'm on the US store btw.
I have to say, I was expecting a good game, but not something that just hits the right notes so often.
Even the payoffs have good setups, and this game is more than 20 years old. I wonder what made it so different, is it because it's based off a book? I have heard similar things about the Witcher series, but never played any yet.
In any case, P.E. is definitely one of these forgotten gems that need to be brought back into the light, not necessarily for remake purposes, but at least as a source of inspiration.
? Wondering if there are any survival horror addicts. I had zombie apocalypse nightmares in childhood, watched zombie horror movies and wanted to give off spooky looks. Yet I could not bring myself to watch stuff like hell raiser, should I watch that?
Not that they are related but it would be intresting if there could be a tie-in and for the Duffer brothers to make a Parasite Eve movie/ Netflix series.
The first Parasite Eve was a greatest hits game for the PS1, yet it's not available on the PS network. Why is that? Same for Silent Hill. Both of these games were favorites for lots of people, I'd think they would profit from it. I looked online for original copies of the games, but people are charging 80-100 bucks or more for USED... like, come on man, I just wanna play a game again...
I've read the novelization the game was originally based off of, but i'm looking for more of "nature runs amok" in modern day, full on body horror, animal mutants, the whole lot.
Which one should do them? We have to admit that the original PS1 renders are going to look pretty rough now (though I would still have them available for preservationβs sake). I think the right creators could produce something that captures the atmosphere of the games very well.
There has been since 2020, buzz about a remastered version of Parasite Eve. Is this nothing but buzz or are there any genuine plans to come up with a remastered version (better yet a remake) of that amazing game?
Does SquareEnix somehow feels that the series would not be profile on new gen consoles? Do they look down on a game that was quite well received by critics and the community.
Hi everyone, I was recently playing the Resident Evil remakes and was wondering about RPGs that would simulate that experience (I could think of several like Nemesis ORE, All Flesh, Delta Green etc). However, my thoughts drifted to Parasite Eve, a niche console title with a cult following (sadly diminished after a very bad third game). So I'm curious - what kind of a system do you think would work well for that kind of a game?
What made Parasite Eve different from the Resident Evil type of survival horror (using mutants rather than zombies) is a pinch of RPG mechanics from older final fantasies like action points and stats and even some supernatural abilities the protagonist could wield (using what was effectively mana points).
My first idea was Chronicles of Darkness (either vanilla or Hunter), especially with how it has merits for supernatural feats like pyrokinesis, but it's fairly crunchy and I'm not entirely sure the way it handles shock and fear works for Resident Evil-esque horror where you have to deal with a lot of bad stuff before you can take a longer break. Modern AGE on pulpy mode has promise too, but I haven't actually played it yet.
I just made a quick Vita pape for this series for organization, and since the original files were large enough I decided to make a couple desktop versions as well. You can find all the assets+PSD on this link, along with the 1080p, 1440p and 544p versions:

Edit: [22:55 EST 2021-05-25] Just realized i totally forgot to match the blacks across the assets, the updated papes should be up now and the colours should be matching
I have a rare hardcover copy of the Parasite Eve book by Hideaki Sena that I would like to sell. I special ordered this years ago, and have over the years kept it safe in my collection. The copy is in excellent condition, and I have decided it is time to let someone else appreciate it.
As this is a rare item, I am looking for a serious collector. I would like sell this for $500.
Please reach out if interested!
Is there any way to get the song here? I know the remastered Ludens is on spotify but not P. Eve, which has more noticeable changes.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
It's always exciting to experience a piece of science fiction that is heavily inspired by science rather than other works of science fiction. With parasite eve the prevailing impression I got was the writers were heavily intrigued by a single scientific phenomenon, in this case the nature of the mitochondria, and proceeded to extrapolate that idea into an absolute extreme. Which is probably true given the game is a pseudo sequel to a book written by a microbiologist. Beyond that Squaresoft touted the game as a cinematic rpg. Playing through it, I recognised some flavour of survival horror as well. All this illustrates Parasite Eve as a highly experimental genre fusion and quintessential of the creative vigour of Squaresoft during the PlayStation One generation. here is a company fresh of the high of Final Fantasy VII ready to conquer the world, much like the titular character of the game.
Through much of the game the player character, Aya Brea, is placed in a position of complete isolation. Set in New York city during Christmas, what should be a place brimming with life and activity is now eerily empty while the landmarks are filled with monstrous creatures. Narratively Aya is also alone in her fight to defeat Parasite Eve since she is the only one capable of the task. She has no back up or companionship in this desperate fight for survival between the human race and the parasitic mitochondria.
Although the game has no shortages of grotesque body horror and Hollywood style bombastic set-pieces, it does have something to say. It reminds us of the true nature of all life, one defined by exploitation, desperation and an all encompassing desire to simply exist. Yet the game looks at this not with condemnation but with optimism. Maybe it is possible to co-exist, to find some harmony between all living things and the planet itself.
