A list of puns related to "Outstrip"
I remember hearing this somewhere but don't know if it's true.
I find the rhetoric of most climate change predictions very hard to comprehend. For example, in The Uninhabitable Earth which I am currently reading, it is said that "By 2030, India will only have half of the water it needs."
I am not doubting the science, but the predictions seem very hard to believe. I mean, first - what does it mean for India to only have half of the water it needs? Half of India is 600 million people. Are they all going to die of thirst by 2030? Or just not have water for basic hygiene? Even just 10 people that can't even get water can destabilize a country. If half a billion are in danger of going dry in less than 9 years, shouldn't India already look like some mad max apocalypse?
The author also mentions that billions of people are already under severe water stress (again, what does it mean?). He also said that by the end of the century climate change would wipe away approx 300 trillion dollars from the world economy. How is that supposed to happen when the world's annual GDP is 80 trillion?
I don't know how many crazy people you get in this sub, so i'll just let you know I'm not denying anything. I just can't find a way to seriously apply the rhetoric of the predictions to the real world.
