A list of puns related to "Outdoorsy"
We just started talking about this last week. We just want to get our toes wet and spend sometime together before he leaves the nest. I just want to make sure that we are safe and as comfortable as possible. Edit: I'm the dad, not the mom.
Iβm looking at the AWD hyundai ioniq 5 and the VW ID.4 models for reference. Really any of their respective years if you have information on it.
I live in Denver and regularly take part in the 170-190 mile, traffic filled, round trip drive skiing on I70. Itβs pretty hilly and mountainous. Iβve read that the hills donβt effect range too badly since the downhill range gains even out the uphill range losses, but wondered if anyone has firsthand experience in this type of driving. I also know the cold can effect range and (even for my denver commute) the temperatures drop to and below freezing. Any advice about this would be great too.
Next is clearance for βoff-roadingβ and if the EV SUVs can be taken on bumpy dirt roads to get to trailheads. From what Iβve seen these cars in the AWD models are around 6.5 inches which blows my current car out of the water, but still leaves some to be desired.
Lastly, the big one, if itβs feasible to road trip. Say the trip from Denver to Moab (360 miles) where Iβd stay at a camp site, miles from town. Has anyone done this? How? Or, less intense, just a ski trip ~250 miles from denver where I probably would stay in town with access to some sort of charger. Might have to stop and charge on the way up and down still.
Iβve looked into charger maps and I feel like Iβm looking at the wrong thing - itβs surprisingly scarce.
If you have any feedback at all on your experience with any of these situations please let me know!
Also, do you guys think there is some value in this sector? I might be late to the train, but it definitely seems like brands like Patagonia and arcβterx are here to stay and I think there is a little more of a shift to be that cool outdoorsy Colorado hipster guy living in his van and going rock climbing, but I donβt know, what do you guys think?
Covid as a catalyst or not, I do think people are wanting to get outdoors a lot more nowadays. Also getting tired of tech stocks lol.
Basically the title haha! Is there a garden club on campus? I want to meet other people who love nature and also, want to go on hikes or stuff! The hiking club isnβt meeting for like a month and I want to make nature friends STAT :,)
I moved here two years ago for my job and while the job has been wonderful and provided some career success for me, I have struggled to find a network and social circle here in Denver (and have also really struggled with dating, but thatβs another story). I feel like this is largely in part due to the fact that Iβm not a very βoutdoorsyβ person- I just did not grow up frequently doing outdoor activities, and while I donβt mind going on hikes or spending the day outside, Iβm just not someone where it is my preferred activity or something I want to do every single weekend. I have felt like itβs super challenging to find connections here because it quite literally feels like every single person wants to camp, ski, snowboard, or rock climb every weekend. I know a lot of it is cultural pressure to fit in and itβs probably unlikely that this many people exclusively enjoy those activities, but I really miss having a network of people who were interested in other things and not ashamed to admit that they didnβt want to spend every weekend outdoors. Even though I love my job, Iβm highly considering moving because I donβt feel like Iβll ever fit in here. For some more context- Iβm a 27 year old woman who is relatively successful and in shape and didnβt have issues dating or finding friends in the other cities Iβve lived in- and have had several men Iβve gone on dates with tell me theyβre uninterested in continuing to see me once they find out Iβm not very outdoorsy. Iβve gone to some womenβs meetups, and even at those I often feel like Iβm an outsider listening to others talk about their ski passes and weekend camping plans. Iβm surprised at how isolating and hard on my mental health it has been. I feel very vulnerable in posting this, so would really appreciate advice or others in a similar situation and not a bunch of responses telling me to move.
My girlfriend and I have been living out in Golden for about a year now after moving from Florida. After things warm up a bit we intend to do a lot of camping and general outdoor exploring. Looking for friends with similar interests or good recommendations for some overland camp areas. Are there any groups centered around those sorts of hobbies that meet up in the area?
Update The overwhelmingly positive response from everyone has been great. I appreciate all of you!
I just applied to Brown, really liking the open curriculum. However, in terms of community fit, would I be an outlier as a Midwestern dude who fishes a lot? (I do other outdoors stuff like hiking, climbing, etc. fishing is just the main one).
Like, I donβt need the school to be dominated by outdoorsy types. But, is there some chunk of outdoorsy people at Brown? Of course, I have hobbies besides nature stuff, but Iβm concerned I may not be the best fit for brown if some of my major hobbies arenβt very common at the school.
Hello! I'm a 25yo science student from central Slovenia, looking for something that could develop into a long-term relationship, but with pets instead of children.
To elaborate on the title, I love spending time outside. I do nature photography as a hobby and I enjoy hiking, exploring historical places and skiing in winter (my favorite season). Going on adventures like those together is pretty much my love language.
Another thing I love is music. I listen to all kinds of metal (but mostly black, death, power and thrash), some punk and goth. However, I don't really have friends with a similar music taste. Perhaps that's why I'm looking for someone that will enjoy going to shows together, small/local scene included.
I also play videogames and own 20+ houseplants, amongst other things. But letβs leave some conversation about hobbies for later.
I'm 186cm tall with light brown curly hair, blue eyes and glasses. I hate being that person, but height is something I still get insecure about. I'm okay with dating people who are a little shorter, but would prefer that the height difference between us isn't too obvious.
I'm not particularly feminine - I dress for comfort (I'm no stranger to buying my own hoodies from the men's section), I dislike shaving my legs and putting on makeup, except for occasional over the top eyeliner. So, I hope youβre cool with that. And Iβm cool with exchanging stupid selfies early on.
Personality wise I'm an introvert. I also come off as quite independent, when in reality Iβm just anxious about social interactions. Once I'm comfortable around someone I can become very chatty, and almost no conversation topic is off-limits. People also describe me as being good with the technical aspect of things, knowing so much stuff (and googling the rest), telling stupid jokes, but also lacking confidence (it be like that sometimes).
Also, Iβm on the asexual spectrum - somewhere between gray and demi. That means I very rarely find anyone attractive, but once I do, I don't mind occasionally doing sexual things with them.
There are some dealbreakers too, namely political incompatibility (with me being a leftist/socialist), religion (I'm an atheist, interested in paganism form a historical perspective, not interested in people of any major religion) and smoking/drug use (not a fan of either, although weed is something that I might be able to overlook).
I think that covers it, so feel free to introduce yourself if you find me interesting, are of

Hi all! Iβve searched the sub and I canβt find a particular answer to this. I am an avid runner and have been for many years. I typically run at dawn, but not always. I have been getting very much into skincare in the past 2 years & sunscreen (aside from what is in my tinted moisturizer) isnβt something Iβve used often. The few times Iβve experimented with it on a run, Iβve wound up with an extremely sweaty face & burning eyes. For reference, this occurred with unseen sunscreen by supergoop & a sunscreen by coola.
Iβd love to hear any fellow outdoor runners/active peoples favorite SPF that doesnβt do this. Thanks all!
ETA- thank you kindly for all of your suggestions!! I am definitely going to settle on one of these sunscreens for day to day, but am going to give some of the Japanese ones (biore & nivea) a try!
Like the title says, how do you like living in LA? This is sort of me polling the audience here as I am thinking of moving to LA to be closer to family. Right now I live in Sacramento and like the proximity to nature, but I don't like Sacramento itself much. (Moved here for a relationship and ended up leaving that).
But, I love the outdoors and I need access to it to be happy. Seems like it shouldn't be a huge issue in LA. But to all my cyclists, hikers, trail runners, swimmers, divers, kayakers, skiers, skaters out there, do you enjoy living in LA? Does the traffic and city life make it very difficult to incorporate these things into your daily life? It's really my only hesitation, i've loved LA every time i've visited but now i'm trying to imagine my day to day life there. I will have a Prius to get around in.
Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks yall!
Edit: Just to be clear, I am not completely uninformed. I know of the surrounding mountains, water, parks, beaches, etc. Just want to know how easy it is to integrate that all in day to day life in such a busy, high traffic, expensive city.
I've hiked a good amount in the roanoke area but I'm looking for a nice place to picnic that i could drive to instead of hike. the less popular the better.
First thing: I have herpes. Have had it 10 years. Doesnβt really affect me but the social stigma is a dealbreaker for many.
About me: Northern California raised. Moved around a bit after college but ended up back in the same area for graduate school.
Bikes, skis, kayaks, and backpacking trails are my main jams outside of the science I do for my career. I'm pretty fit, a bit of a gear head, and I love getting out into the wilderness. When not tromping outdoors and attending university-related events, I tend to be a homebody introvert. I listen to mellow music, read fantasy/sci-fi books, tend to my garden, and plunk around on my instruments. I can banter about microbes, plants, and experimental design for hours on end if I have a willing conversation partner.
I like having adventures that may be somewhat physically and mentally uncomfortable. Love to challenge my mind, my body, and enjoy this life for everything itβs got.I strive for peak experiences, but also enjoy simple pleasures, dancing, reading, dissecting concepts, optimizing designs, growing food, cooking food, sharing food with loved ones... I'm a decent cook.
Iβve had some major losses in my life which have definitely shaped the person I am today. Over the last couple of years Iβve done a lot of work in therapy and focusing on myself, and I continually seek to grow and improve as a person. Iβm genuinely happy with myself and am excited to share it with you.
Currently pursuing my PhD and it does require a lot of my time. Would like to start slow with someone, I'm in no hurry. I'm here in school until 2025, planning on doing a post-doc (or two) in Europe after that. I'm open to emigrating permanently.
5β9β, 155 lbs.
I am attractive, fit, intelligent, driven, and I am emotionally available. I put a lot of conscious effort into living my best life and Iβm fortunate enough to be genuinely happy most of the time.Iβm also stubborn, slightly ocd, and unusually sensitive to intense smells/sounds/lights. Again though, always working on improvement.
About you: Stable, open minded, active, intellectually-inclined, driven. I won't hold you to any standards which I don't hold myself to.
Iβm flexible about many things, but you must be single and monogamous, health-oriented, considerate, and loving. Preferably 0-6 years older than me.
If you think weβd hit it off, send me a pm (not chat) and please say something more than βhey." I put a bit of effort into writing this, and would appreciate a ge

Hi all, Iβm a high school senior who just got accepted. Miami is my top choice. Coming from New England I love hiking backpacking biking and all the outdoors activities you think of when you think New England. What are the opportunities like around Oxford to truly get outside and immersed in nature? Thanks :)
We are currently experiencing love and wonder with our new long hair chi puppy. Heβs all chi and will probably top out about 6-7lbs.
My partner previously had a βchippinβ mix who we loved to take on long hikes, camping, etc. I know our puppy will be able to easily go in a carrier on outdoor adventures but looking at him now, I do wonder if heβs just always going to be a bit too delicate for big outdoor adventures.
Does anyone have a chi who actually enjoys these kinds of activities? Ours is just a baby still, but Iβd like to get a sense of what he may be capable of in the future so I can train him appropriately. If heβs destined for a life of couch cuddles, thatβs okay too. I just am curious about what to expect.
Iβm trying to find the perfect scent to wear almost everyday. Iβm looking for something thatβs outdoorsy and refreshing but still βfeminineβ or sweet. Iβm thinking about the Open Sky scent; Is that a good choice for what Iβm looking for?
Hi all! Adult here, looking for something outdoorsy, fiction or otherwise. Iβm newly into hunting, and have realized that I like reading books about outdoor adventure, hunting stories, etc. Iβve recently read some books by Steven Rinella and Iβve revisited the Jack London White Fang books. I also remember when I was a kid and how thrilled I was with Hatchet by Gary Paulson. Iβm looking for something outdoorsy, along those lines. Thanks for any tips! Look forward to contributing for others in this sub.
I'm in a situation where I'm planning a first date that I think needs to be a little more than just coffee. I don't know a ton about this person, but I do know that she's extremely outdoorsy and loves hiking, climbing, etc. Hiking's known for being a little too serial-killery for a first date, but are there any other outdoorsy activities that could work?
Edit: the nearby ice skating rink is closed rip
Leatherman multitools is #1 Thereβs so many to choose from from $50-180. The best is gotta be the leatherman charge or the leatherman wave. Leathermans are something he will have for the rest of his life they last forever and become very sentimental
Next is a solostove. You can set these sweet little campfires up absolutely anywhere. I just got one of the smaller ones and have used it hanging out in the woods, chillin on my patio and since I got a smaller on I even had it propped up on and iron table on my patio. Thereβs also a lot to choose from.
maybe a garmin watch idk thatβs all I got hoped it helped Guys like yeti products too
Looking to talk to people that are interested in that sort of thing.
