A list of puns related to "Oropharynx"
After watching Zheanna's "look inside my mouth" video, I realized that when I raise my larynx, I also constrict my oropharynx. I would like to be able to move everything independently of each other, so I could fine tune the voice to my liking. Is this normal or have I somehow lumped both of them together?
Is it normal, when youre starting to try oropharyngial closure, for it to be hard to breathe while doing so? I feel like it isnt and Im overdoing it, but if I dont do "overdo it" that way it feels like Im not doing it at all.

I noticed at the beginning of May in the limit of my oropharynx a kind of growth while looking in my throat because I had a angina. Then the angina passed and I forgot that lump for a month or two. Then the day before yesterday, looking at my throat again (for no apparent reason) I saw that this lump was still there and that worried me. So I made an appointment with an ENT in October.
Except that while waiting for this meeting I keep stressing and repeating myself: "Oropharyngeal cancer" in my head while I have no other symptoms: No sore throat, no ganglion in the neck, no pain when I swallow! But this hypochondriac fear is stronger than me and to relax I therefore want you to work out to be sure that it is not cancer and finally to rest.
To finish I specify that this tumor is similar to the basic tissues and it only looks like a symmetrical oval bump which is in the center of my oropharynx. In the center of it, I give you a whitish color in the evening and yellow in the morning. When I take a picture of her it hardly looks like a bump if I zoom in!

Hi reddit. I am a female 30 with a growth or cyst or something in the insde of my throat. It's right where the lower nasopharynx and oropharynx meet. Its visible when looking in the mirror. I cant even describe the fear and anxiety I have. I have been diagnosed with PTSD anxiety and depression so you can probably imagine how I'm handling this situation.
I have had the growth for a few years now at least. Its sometimes noticable when I swallow. Occasionally gets sore or irritated especially if I'm sick or throwing up. It's the same color as my throat or slightly more red sometimes. Smooth and symmetrical. Its about the size of a tic tac not quite as wide. I am terrified that its cancer. I have had pretty extensive blood work done in the last 3 years because of unrelated auto immune disease. The growth was there during all of this. So I'm trying to tell myself that surely blood test would have detected something. But that's only if its spread to lymphnodes right?
My lymphnodes under my chin and by my left ear always feel slightly hard and swollen to me. I've asked my doctor about the lymphnodes a couple of years ago and she that they felt ok and that some ppl have lymphnodes closer to the service so they are more noticable. But she didn't know about the throat cyst at that time.
I know throat cancer is rare. But unfortunately I have done all the things that raise the chances of cancer in the past. I had a rough child hood substwnce abuse started at 13. Moved out at 16. Smoked cigd smoked weed, drug use drinking continued until 23 cigs until 27. I'm sober now married and raising 3 beautiful kids. I have been a ball of emotions and panick attacks this whole week. I know anxiety and guilt are playing a huge part. I'm just hoping to find others who can tell me about benign cyst experiences. Thanks
Theres the tongue depressor but is there a better way? How does one get good at this?

Is it normal to have, what feels like, a bony protrusion in the middle of the Oropharynx? I have recently noticed it and I don't know if it's normal. If I stick my finger back there, I can rub the Oropharynx and there is a distinct protrusion right in the center of it. I am asking because for the past 2 weeks I've had some throat issues and this was the only thing I could think of.

i understand men are the carriers, and women have cervical cancer vaccines in the UK to counter HPV. shouldnt men have them as a standard too?

Currently on Penicillin, Naproxen (major anti-inflammatory), and a Paracetamol/codeine combo tablet for pain and fever control.
Last week I was getting over a cold. The usual; mild cough, runny nose, yellow mucous to signal white blood cells fighting something off. Nothing unusual. I was almost all better, had nothing more than a slightly runny nose for a few days.
Saturday: slightly runny nose, only had to blow nose about 3-5 times that day. "End" of cold, as far as I knew.
Sunday: Majorly bad symptoms out of nowhere, maybe I contracted a hard-hitting flu. Bad fever (no thermometer, but it was obvious enough to not need one to know I had one), major ache in my muscles and joints. Woke up with swollen nasopharynx, tried to snort back some mucous to spit it out. That hurt because of the swelling. Felt woozy and dizzy, bought some soup, drank lots of tea and water, managed a small plate of spaghetti for dinner. Used lots of an unmedicated, saline nasal spray with eucalyptus to clear nose.
4am Monday: Couldn't swallow, severe pain and swelling around naso and oropharynx, tonsils huge with white streaks. Small red patches around uvula and oropharynx. Convinced myself I contracted strepthroat, got an appointment for 12:45 pm. Gargled with saltwater in the morning and late morning. By the time I went to the doctor the small red patches became very big. They weren't lumps or bumps, just very very red patches on and around uvula.
Doctor said he thinks it is viral rather than strep, prescribed paracetamol/codeine for the body pain and fever. Prescribed Naproxen for the swelling. Both helped a lot. I am currently travelling and won't be able to see the same doctor before I leave tomorrow so he took a swab for strep to make sure, and prescribed penicillin without confirmed diagnoses to make sure I could take it as soon as possible if the test comes back positive. (He will text me this afternoon with the result.)
Noticed major improvements with pain/fever/swelling after medicating, slept ok Monday night despite mild persisting fever.
Tuesday, today, I woke up and checked my throat with a flashlight. The red splotches were almost gone, the white streaks were still there but the swelling was still down. Either no fever or it is very mild, hard to tell because hostel room is quite warm. I had oatmeal for breakfast, drank tea with honey, took my medications, and went to brush my teeth.
**My uvula began bleeding and the red spl
