A list of puns related to "Ormeau Road"
What "commercial premises" on the ormeau Road was caught selling drink? It says its on the country bound side of the bridge so not the Hatfield π

The areas of each road that I am comparing are the ones the majority of young professionals could afford to purchase/rent, and which would have the least amount of students. Please see attached photo for my approximate guide of areas I mean.
I am torn between the two to be honest. Any opinions as to which is best are welcome.
Anyone know what times the parades on Ormeau and Ravenhill road will be tomorrow morning? Hoping to buy some furniture off Gumtree and move it from Ormeau to Ravenhill. Is there somewhere online where the parades' schedule is posted? Much appreciated.
I Wikipediaed it and it's named after the Ormeau Park. So I clicked that link and saw it was named after a Donegall family residence on the estate called Ormeau cottage but that's where I've hit a dead end.
Does anyone know what/who/where/why Ormeau?
apparently it all kicked off last night? (sunday) anyone know if there was a major brawl?
whats peoples opinions on the place? ive been a few times but seen too many scumbags let in , i stopped going as i knew there would be a major incident
The standard of driving here can be described, at best, as 'erratic'. Every day inevitably has a head in hands moment. After 5 years here, I am really getting good at NI's driving etiquettes.
I'm a blow-in, so fully aware that this will seem embittered, but the one true area where cross-community support stands out is that shite driving isn't specific to any one community here. Everyone is a roaster. In a way, it's heartening to see...it's progress, in a strange way.
I've driven in the UK, down South (which, to be fair, seems to have it's own fair share of road-using nutterjobs), worked in the ME for 4 years and drove there, and NI isn't as bad as Jordan, however, I'm not being dramatic - it's neck and neck with the UAE which is its own special kind of stupid.
The road safety adverts of cars rolling over 23 children and lads drinking 13 pints then driving their missus in to a tree at 75mph whilst blaring In The Summertime by Mungo Jerry were drink drive adverts we were being shown in Scotland 30 years ago. It's nice to see them remixed and having the same kind of positive impact on all the absolute lunatics firing about in high powered death machines here.
After 5 years here, some observations below:
- Don't wait for a reasonable gap in traffic. Just rattle your Beamer out in to the traffic at the first available opportunity and everyone else can get squarely to fuck. Never forget that this is all about you. Live your movie - we're just NPCs for you to be the main character in your life story of being a massive, useless cunt.
- As soon as dusk sets in, pop your full beams on. Leave them on too. More so if you're on a country road. It is dark, after all, and you do need to get home.
- Ride right up the arse of the car in front on country roads, dual carriageways, doesn't really matter where, just let them know you're needing to get somewhere. So long as there's a car in front, you need to get as close to them as possible so you can almost taste their breakfast.
- Indicators are optional and roundabouts are just a catherine wheel of shit luck. Who knows where you're going!? You don't! We don't! Fun! Danger! Gambling! LIVE A LITTLE.
- Use the inside lane for a leisurely drive where you refuse to exceed 35mph or to move to the outside lane. Resistance is Power. If you can match your speed to the car adjacent to you, then that's even better.
- This also applies if you're an HGV driver. The law is to only use the inside lane with a focus on the h

Hope everyone had a good new year! Recently I've been thinking about a move and Belfast popped into my head. I haven't been since I was a kid so I can't quite remember that much.
I'd be coming from Leeds and looking for work as a chef, I've noticed there's a lot of chef job adverts up now even with covid etc so I'm hoping there's a healthy job market around March when I'm thinking of coming. Any chefs here with experience of working in Belfast?
Also I was looking to flatshare mainly for financial reasons but also the social aspect I reckon. I've been recommended the ormeau road area to look for a place but any other recommendations would be appreciated!
I'll take a week holiday maybe end of February to check out that I'm gonna like it. Everyone I've said it to has pulled a funny face as I'm moving to Iraq. I understand how to stay out of trouble. I lived in South Tottenham right next to seven sister station for 2 years and never had a bit of bother π€·ββοΈ
Cheers!
Hey I feel like I don't see enough "what do you think of this area?" posts lol. But what's the craic with the Woodstock Road? I'm looking at buying somewhere next year and see a fair few nice looking gaffs around there but I've heard it's dodgy? But then people say Cregagh is grand. Can anyone enlighten me, I've included the house that spurred the question

I'm planning a move to Belfast with my other half and we're looking at a house on Deramore Street in Ormeau. As we're coming from England I don't know Belfast that well at all - it seems one road can be different to the next! My partner thinks this area may be too close to a... flaggy estate. Does anybody have any thoughts or knowledge about what it might be like living on this road?
Any suggestions on what to do/what to go see in Belfast? I've moved here about 6 months ago so still finding out what's good to do rather than walk about the shops etc
Planning a birthday dinner with a few mates and wondering if anyone had any good BYO suggestions?
Hi folks - moving from Dublin to Belfast for my girlfriend's work in a month or 2 and starting to look at possible places to live. Don't know anything about Belfast however so unsure what areas to look at / avoid . Close to the city if possible but as long as it is on public transport that would be grand as she doesn't drive.
Price wise everything seems fairly decent compared to what we are paying now in Dublin so no real stipulations there.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated!
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
Iβm meeting a friend who has recently moved to Belfast and doesnβt know the area. Im just wondering where is a nice and safe walk at night in Belfast and maybe somewhere nice for dinner afterwards as well?
Hey r/belfast, just hoping you could all help me out with a few questions I have ahead of the Belfast marathon in a few weeks.
My wife and I are driving up from Laois. We've got a nice looking spot to stay close to Ormeau Park, mainly due to its proximity to finish line in the Park for race day.
Anywhere you'd recommend for food/drinks on the Sunday afternoon following the race? We'd have 2 kids and my mum with us.
Where would be a nice spot to head in the evening if our weary legs could carry us out for a few pints (and we ditch the kids with Granny)?
In terms of other stuff we might do...is Titanic any good for a 4 and 7 year old. I've read some mixed things. Was thinking of maybe doing that on Saturday afternoon.
Lastly, our car has Irish plates, I may be living waaay too far in the past or being overly cautious but do you think it would be fine to leave off the Cregagh Road.
Would welcome any other food/drink recommendations you have. Looking forward to visiting your city. Cheers, JJ
Heya so I'm (Italian 23F) looking at renting an apartment next to Shankill in Belfast and anytime I mention it my boyfriend (he's an Ulster Scott 23M) always laughs nevously... Is it a bad spot? And so why? Is it to do with the Troubles times? Should I be worried?
Myself and the missus are in Belfast till Monday, had deadly Japanese food in Obento today and wondering if there's any more deadly spots for food (Breakfast Lunch Dinner) that we could try that aren't necessarily the top google search result!

30 year old guy from Dublin maybe moving to NI. Is Belfast safe for a guy from Dublin? Where is safe to rent and where is not? It would be most ideal to be able to drink in a pub, meet people, have fun, go to a gym etc etc.
