A list of puns related to "Oocyte"
My nurse provided me with some feedback from the embryologist who performed ICSI on my 6 (out of 8) mature eggs on Wednesday post retrieval. They said that the sperm were βnice and easyβ, but that the oocytes were grainy. Iβm guessing this has to do with my age, 38, but Iβm wondering whether the three eggs that fertilized have a chance of being better quality? Do you find that all oocytes in a batch generally have the same grainy appearance in these instances or can it vary within the same retrieval? I am holding out hope the three that fertilized may have been better quality and could progress further. Thank you so much for your expertise and help!
Hello, I am a pre-med student in my 3rd year at school and my anatomy professor told me about how some of their colleagues did this procedure of freezing their eggs, because of how long it takes to go through medical school. I know that my mother struggled with fertility when she had me and my brother (she was in her 30-40s). I just want to know some more opinions from physicians and maybe some stories on other women in medicine who may have done this and their experience with it. I do want to have a family in the future but knowing my moms history Iβm a bit concerned. Any thoughts? Thanks :))
Animals only harbor one mitochondrial genotype (that of the mother). Is this is the case for ALL animals including insects.
Or are there instances where an insect could inherit both mtDNA from the sperm and the oocyte.
Hello,
Thank you so much for being here and doing this. I am so grateful for everything you guys do.
After many rounds of IVF I consistently have a poor fertilization rate. (2 out of 9, 4 out of 11.) ICSI is used every time.
Iβm 34 and from what Iβve read here it probably means I have an egg quality issue.
Do you think calcium ionophore treatment/artificial oocyte activation could help?
Do you think there are certain circumstances in which this treatment would and would not help?
What are your experiences with this treatment and what do you think of it?
Thank you so much for your time.
Hi Embryologists, thank you for this beatiful space!
iβm 29 yo and my husband in 31yo ( with good semen analisys and DFI 16%) we are unexplained. in November we had ICSI, and my Doctor retrieved 9 mature oocytes on 14 totals that my embryologist defined not so beatiful( zona pellucida was quite thick and he said that this is characteristic of aged oocytes) of the 9 mature oocytes 6 were fertilized with ICSI and we had 5 blastocysts 1 x4AB fresh transfer- positive Hcg blighted ovum 1x3AB 1x3BA 2x2BB Our Embryologist said that blastocysts were very beatiful and he was a little bit surprised of it.
So now we would like to know : Have blastocysts derived from poor quality oocytes the same potential of blastocysts derived from good quality oocytes? ( i mean pregnancy rate- live birth rate and aneuploidy rate in line with my age?)
if the fact of have obtained 5 good quality blastocysts on 6 oocytes fertilized( high blastulation rate) is a sign of good quality oocyte?
because we had one blighted ovum in may and one after fresh transfer of 4AB blast.
thank you for your kind reply
17 eggs, 6 discarded due to immaturity. 11 currently fertilising.
Awaiting the Embryologistβs call tomorrow for an update, transfer on Saturday!
Such a slow start for a very quick finish!
Fingers crossed π€πΌ
Seems like an odd question... Don't judge me.
I'm just curious if there is enough genetic material in biological male DNA to create an egg, fertilize it, and have a surrogate carry.
Greetings. I am supposed to start my medication for the oocyte cryopreservation/egg freezing cycle tomorrow. Does anyone have thoughts on the risks/effects of air pollution on ovulation/mature egg development? Ie, is there any risk for lower quality eggs based on the air I'm breathing during the egg freezing cycle? I have been reading research on the negative effects of ambient air pollution on health in general and pregnancy in general, but haven't found anything specific on its immediate effect on the quality of the egg (or in this case many eggs) released during ovulation. Not only is the air quality horrible in general in CA but I also live 90 ft from a freeway and will be moving in 3 weeks. I'm wondering if it's worth it to wait (but then there is weighing the relative cost of aging each month that I wait) or just go with the cycle now as planned. I acknowledge my anxiety is a bit high about this whole thing. Thank you for your thoughts.
