Mouri Motonari and Oda Nobunaga were friends, and Hideyoshi was apparently (one of?) the liaison officers between the two clans

I found this a while ago, and it's really cool, so though I'd share.

Not sure if this is actually widely known knowledge, since I wasn't really paying attention to the Mouri clan in general. But a while back while trying to look up something else, there was a mention that Motonari became good friends with Nobunaga after Nobunaga became shogun's Yoshiaki's sponsor in 1568.

Well. Maybe not friends per se, at least allies/close associate.

When I looked further, it turns out the two clans maintained cordiality all the way to 1576, when something broke and the Mouri went to support the Honganji instead. Still haven't really looked in detail what caused the deterioration of the relationship. Anyway, when I was searching, I saw that this is very old news at least in the scholarly circles in Japan. It's just maybe not really shown in mainstream media/anime/games/whatever.

I found this book compiling transcripts of Hideyoshi's letters from the Mouri clan archives, addressed to Kobayakawa Takakage and Kikkawa Motoharu, so it's not hearsay from later date. I think that this explains a lot in relation to why Hideyoshi was the commander for the battles against the Mouri from 1576-ish onwards. He... actually had been there to their territories way back when. Motonari had requested intervention in the conflicts he was having with the Amako clan, and Nobunaga dispatched Hideyoshi to assist them.

Oh, the irony that 10 years later he came back to invade.

One of the letters addressed to Takakage. Dated 1571.

I think it's a direct transcript of the original letters, because there's a lot of archaic words and grammar in there. Or if it's already transliterated, it's still an old-fashioned grammar, as this transcript is compiled pre-WW2.

Also, for some reason it looks like the -kou ๅ…ฌ honourific is written as ๆฑŸ here?

Going to Play My First Campaign as Japan, Specifically The Oda Clan and Unite Japan. Any Advice For a Newb?

I know the basics and while Iโ€™ve been told to start as a bigger nation from basically every tutorial video, I love the idea of starting off as a small nation in a period of strife between what should be a larger nation, what better place than the warring states period? My main goal is to take the larger states to the North, then defeat the big one to the south, before taking Kyoto. Basically do everything historically as best I can so I donโ€™t mess it up, however I understand this game wonโ€™t be perfect to the historical events so any advice in economy, alliances, and armys would be much appreciated.

Mod to change the colors of the Oda clan?

So the last few weeks ive been playing the weeb trifecta, that is, Nioh 2, Sekiro, and Ghost of Tsushima. Now ive been playing a blast from my past, Shogun 2 the game that started my interest in historical japan. I "like" the Oda, as in i like pretty much everything except their clan colors, they suck, it looks like vomit. does anyone know of workshop mod to switch them out? I don't care if is historically accurate or not.

The Oda Clan

The other day I've been reading about some Sengoku period people on Wikipedia, and while going through the Oda clan I thought:"Why aren't they in the game? Or are they?"

I know of Nobunaga, his younger brother Nobuyuki (=Nobukatsu) and his niece Chacha; but since I missed Nobunobu 1 and don't know too much about the upcoming Nobu events I'd like to know if any of his siblings or children appear as NPCs?

All answers are welcome.
