A list of puns related to "Non Canonical"
Think about it.
In The Last of Us, there are 3 Deaths and one specific segment [there are probably more] that evoke a strong sense of sadness, misery & despair in the player. And then almost immediately afterwards, the game gives you a moment to either pause, breathe or reflect on What The Fuck Just Happened?
I will now do my best to list these below, and then attempt to show how the Second Game fails to give us any similar setting/scenario/situation:
The beginning player only spends a grand-total of 20-35 minutes with Joel's daughter. But because of good writing, good acting & great structure, Sarah's tragic death in her father's arms hits almost every gamer present in the cutscene.
Immediately after the image of a broken-down Joel cradling his fallen daughter, we get an important, albeit brief, moment to just take a break & try to process what just happened, in the form of the opening credits.
The player can put the controller down, and just watch the intro [and subsequent '20 Years Later' cutscene] of various fungi growing, along with the various news broadcast voices chronicling the expeditious decline of society & the world in light of the Outbreak.
Tess is a character who literally storms onto the stage, and before we can even learn the bare minimum about her, we're in-control of Joel again, en route to fuck up Robert.
Yet, after that, the game craftily delivers us some clues β both subtle & overt β on the relationship & history shared between these two characters. We spend the first large bit of gameplay with her, as well as a number of important moments i.e. first battling the Cordyceps, first mentioning of Bill, first meeting Marlene, first meeting Ellie & also discovering her biggest secret: her Immunity.
All of these details bond us surprisingly well towards Tess, which is truly felt when Tess finally reveals her bite, sealing her fate.
Now, true, there are about 20-35 minutes of gameplay occurring before we reach a moment where we can stop & recover β but the game still delivers. In this case, the forest.
After Joel lays out a basic set of rules for Ellie, we find ourselves standing in a more-than-fairly gorgeous forest, at sunset. And there are birds & crickets chirping in the background, there are one or two bunnies hopping around. Ellie even gets pleasantly distracted by a small number of actual fireflies.
It's just a nice moment to
... keep reading on reddit β‘Page 44 of Fizbans has a sidebar that basically says these two are just copper, silver and other metallic dragons that like being in humanoid form. (If your on Dndbeyond, go to Role-playing dragons, then under Shape-Shifting)
I don't really understand why they did this, granted I've never heard of a Song dragon before this but I love Steel dragons, so this is dissapointing.
Especially since there's a Steel dragon in Dungeon of the Mad Mage (with a bit of a garbled stat block but still).
Were these really hated by the community or something?
Either way I'm still having Steel dragons in my world.
I just finished Visions, the anthology series, and thought many of the characters from episode 1 would be interesting characters to add.
(Canonical characters like Cal Kestis, that arenβt in the game are an honorable mention for me)
In the video of the critiqiue of the farewell of the white wolf by xLetalis, he mentions a non-canonical ending written by Sapkowski where Geralt marries Yenneger and Triss dates Eskel, etc. Where can I read this ending?
Anything is welcome. It's still my favorite fantasy series.
For example
Canonical for Mobile.website.com = Mobile.website.com
Canonical for Desktop.website.com = Desktop.website.com
When I refer to non-canonical aliens, I obviously mean aliens made by Tom Perkins, DJW and aliens that have appeared in commercials
I'm just really curious how many of you are MAINLY into canonical style and font sabers, and how many are more into the non-canoncial styles and fonts.
(Third option because lightsabers are awesome, no matter what)
What was the church's reaction to these works of literature when they were published? Were they officially condemned, or embraced? Didn't they know fictional spinoffs of their holy scriptures would muddy the waters as far as what the common person would believe? Or did they consider the writing useful in reinforcing their doctrine?
As an example, Alexander Goth and Lucy Burb are a common pairing for a lot of people.
Asking because I just started playing a small megahood (just the basegame neighborhoods, Bluewater Village and bin families). I got Florence Delarosa together with Cyd Roseland and they make so much sense together holy shit. I'm unreasonably excited that she'll still have a rose-themed surname once they get married.
I think wend should post a video in non-canon books of the Bible, or maybe a multi part series. I think this would be great and would go hand in hand with the same the other Bible video, and it would also help explain some of his conspiracy theory videos.
So Iβm curious to see both sides of this but why do so many fans of the Naruto anime consider the βfillerβ episodes in it to be non canon? I get not all of them are as interesting when compared to one another but most of them add to the overall story and character/world development so I donβt get why they are so often considered non canon.
For me the only anime episodes I have trouble seeing as βcanonβ (off the top of my head) are the Mecha-Naruto episodes and maybe the Chakra disease episodes in shippuden, But everything else seems to add at least some value to the overall story. (Story being the Naruto anime in general)
Clearly they go back, and were once friends enough that Mr. Nimbus knows of Rickβs wife.
This isn't exactly a revelation, Marvel and DC have spent billions making and marketing these movies. But I'm just putting it together now that they are both doing the same movie, in the same way we had "A Bug's Life" and "ANTZ" and "Dante's Peak" and "Volcano" or "Armageddon" and "Deep Impact" around the same time.
The Flash and Spider-Man are both visiting/visited by superheroes/supervillains in other movies made long before the interconnected comic universe was a thing. The plots don't strictly resemble BTTF2, so much as the characters are entering another comic book movie universe in the same way that Marty and Doc Brown had to sneak around in the background of a movie that was already taking place with its own characters following their own arcs.
I'm sure these movies will make enough money to buy a small moon, but it's crazy that both comic book universes both look like they are taking chances with an original concept, but then you realize how it's the safest choice you can make by appealing straight to the nostalgia factor to sell more toys.
Just finished some old books by Ian Watson (Inquisitor War trilogy, Space Marine). Wow. I know about the standard disclaimer about them not being canon, and are now largely regarded as historical curiosities. For example, the power of Space Marines has been increased dramatically in current lore (vs. Inquisitor Draco going to a daemon planet and >!successfully killing a chaos lord (or should I say "lady"?) and shooting Emperor's Children while not getting shot himself!< ). What are some other examples? Has anything remained canon from "old" books that are regarded as non-canonical? For example, Imperial Fists' obsession with scrimshawing has stayed canon. But Space Marine said that Rogal Dorn >!is definitely dead, because his skeleton magically regenerates an amber material that might be the dead dude's psychic flesh that!< is part of classic Ian Watson cannibalism and scatology. Is this initiation ritual and its background still regarded as canon?
p.s. What's the deal with Zoats? I've seen comments on here joking about Zoats. I haven't seen Zoats being mentioned at all in the various Tyranid books I've read?
p.p.s. What's the deal with Squats? Why do people joke about Squats, and why were they taken out when Ogryns, Ratlings, Navigators, etc. have stayed in?
