A list of puns related to "Neonatology"
So I am doing a clerkship in neonatology as a US MD and I absolutely love it - and my preceptor says she works 4 days a wk till 3pm with call every other week. She said she has 3 kids and didnβt miss anything and that she gets paid a comfortable salary near 250s. The hospital is beautiful and the bebes are amazing- this has me wondering, is this experience common across the board ? I love being in the NICU and I canβt believe we get to do this for work - is this even for real ?
I need a textbook that will let me handle myself in the NICU
Also what do you guys prefer gomella or manual of neonatal care?
Title pretty much says it all. I like acuity, resuscitations, and working with children. But I hated the constant stream of teenage drug overdose and complex care 26 year olds that take up PICU.
I just don't know if I want to only see babies for the rest of my career.
Has anyone else dealt with this?
Heyyy. First time poster long time lurker here.
I got to spend a week in nicu/nursery during my peds rotation and it is totally my new crush job. First thing I did was search if neonatal PAs exist bc there arenβt any at the hospital Iβm at. They totally do πππ. Next I emailed my director begging for a neonatal elective. Now idk what to do. Iβm going to ask the peds attendings and NPs about it if I get a chance.
Are there any Neonatal PAs willing to share how they got into the field. Iβm wondering what I should do, Iβve seen the fellowships but there are pretty much 13 spots in the whole United States and chances are I wonβt get in; and prior to loving neonatal medicine so much I did not want to do a residency/fellowship at all. Also I know itβs possible to land a job without doing a post-grad program, the attendings I worked with seemed to like me so hoping that helps. There are job listings available now but idk if those employers are generally willing to train a new PA.
So if this find you well and youβre willing to help a girl out:
Did you do a fellowship? If so did you already have some experience other than clerkship?
Do you spend most of your time in the NICU/ can you please tell me a little about your role?
Did you have NPR certification or additional resuscitative type certification prior to beginning your job/ did the hospital provide it for you?
(Awk question) How much do you earn??
What are your shift?? Ex. 4 10βs qweek
Any guidance is appreciated!! Constructive criticism welcome bc even I think this is a stretch, I was previously thinking I wanted to do ED which is more practical IMO.
Thank you for reading all of this!!
Title says it all - itβs my last chance at a graduate program and Iβve been offered to interview at one of the biggest neonate units in my state. Nerves are a bit edgy as I didnβt get to do a paediatric placement as a student so not sure what to expect, but also super excited at the prospect.
What sort of questions should I prepare for? What sort of questions should I ask? Whatβs your best interview advice?
Any other advice welcome
Well wishes appreciated xx
Hello I was wondering if anyone could help me out whoβs further along in the process. I got an interview at an osteopathic medical school and am super grateful.
I was wondering how much harder, if at all, it is to specialize as a pediatrician to become a neonatologist and if itβs significantly harder for D.O.βs. Since I know that some specialties the highly competitive ones are very hard to get in as D.O. comparatively to M.D.βs.
Thank you for your insight and help!
I'm working with transillumination in neonates, and I wondered if it's well seen around the globe. In my country (Venezuela) it's not used, and almost completely unknown.
Do you think it's helpful? Have you found many false positives or false negatives? Please tell me your experiences!
Hi there! Iβm a paediatrics resident in Portugal looking for a good neonatal intensive care unit (in an English speaking country) to spend 3 months in my last year of residency. Any suggestions? Ps: Iβm not looking for an observational type of internship, Iβm looking for a place where I can actually practice. Thanks!
