A list of puns related to "Mansplain"
Trying not to make this too long! Our story starts with a simple conversation about my goats breeding and my billies going into rut HARD.
BIL tells me that the billies are more attracted to me when I am on my time of the month, then stops himself and realizes with my nexplanon, I don't have a period, usually. He proceeds to tell me that not having a period is throwing off my "natural cycle" and is messing with my mental health/messing with me psychologically.
As if the blood was backing up into my delicate female brain.
He is completely silent when I try to tell him that birth control affects everyone differently. Some women have better skin, some worse, some gain weight and some don't, some have better periods, some have none. He then proceeds to "explain" how men have "their own cycle", and I have to hear a creepy anecdote about how sometimes he would want his wife 3x/day. I tried to explain ovulation and pheromones to him and how he doesn't have a "cycle", his body was playing off of his wife's.
Have y'all ever tried to talk to someone who was so sure they are right, but couldn't be more wrong? Buddy, lady bits run your shit. Our cycles are the center and you are just an orbiter.
Sorry I am not the best writer, but I had to share this with some who would understand!
Edit: I have learned from a few of you that men do indeed have a cycle as well! Thank you to everyone and I I pleased to have learned something new from this experience:)
This is for science.
I mean, on top of everything else I have to deal with, now this?! I basically told him Im tired of explaining whats going on and to look it up. Now hes an expert. ><
We all get on fine with literally all of the residents except this particular one who's literally famous on both of our hospital's psych units for two things:
Explaining basic shit like when a depakote level is supposed to be drawn when it's obvious from the page I sent that I KNOW it's not supposed to be drawn at 3am, HENCE THE PAGE I SENT.
Then doesn't know stuff he should like what medication to prescribe for a pregnant patient or doesn't understand that a patient who was agitated five minutes ago and "calm" now is clearly unpredictable and dangerous.
I'm tempted to just like. Explain basic shit to him. Like when I call for a Tylenol be like, "and generally our unit likes to use Tylenol as the first line for pain relief because it has less side effects in patients without liver dysfunction and we don't prescribe a lot of opiates due to our high number of substance abuse patients."
And then if he says anything about it I'm just gonna be like,"oh it just seemed like that's how you prefer to communicate?"
I'm just fantasizing about being a petty bitch, sorry; I'll be good. Promise.
This is not original I do t know where I saw this first but I just think if dead men when I hear ir
I've been dieting for almost a year now. I've managed to lose 65 lbs, go from a size 22 to a 12, and have about 27 more lbs to go. I've done this with a food plan that has the food measured and daily exercise. It's to the point where I have a 6-7k calorie deficit every week.
I was venting my frustration about how whenever my cycle comes along, the scale either holds or goes up. This guy would just not believe I wasn't some how eating too many calories. He swore I was adding oils or condiments. I had to be sneaking snacks or something. There was just no way that my period could offset that much of a deficit. Never mind there is medical documentation out there that says just that and I have a trend line that matches up with it. And then when I posted my food log from yesterday, he didn't believe the calorie counts were right also. I just don't get it.
EDIT: Wow this really took off. Thank you to all of you for your kind words and helpful hints. And I got my first silver too! Thank you SO much kind stranger. I wish all of you nothing but joy and happiness in all your lives.
Just recently I was excitedly telling a friend about a meeting a trusted professor had set up for me with a male colleague to discuss my dream school. A guy that was with us chimed in with a comment that implied Iβd better be careful because the colleague would try to take advantage of the situation. When I responded that I knew he was married, I got the response βthat never stopped anybody beforeβ. It would have been one thing if the comments were from a place of concern but the tone was more like he was trying to stop me from being excited about an awesome opportunity and it was very flat. Although this is just one example, I am so tired of being told by men how I should interact with other men as if I havenβt been living as a woman and with these dangers my whole life. As if as a woman, my first thought when having one on one interactions with men (especially men in power) isnβt βis this safe? How can I make sure this doesnβt go south?β.
Especially when those comments arenβt coming from a place of concern the implication feels like I couldnβt possibly have gotten an important meeting on my own merits or like my personality, intelligence, and passion isnβt enough to earn respect or friendship. I can handle myself, thank you very much.
Just. Why. Would. You. Do. That.
Ok so Iβm high and Iβve been doing a lot of reading on this and nutrition science and I want people to talk about it with so hang with me:
So basically when you induce a puberty (either caused by your brains hormonal glands or via medically introduced hormones) you βshockβ the biological system.
Literally any person on the planet whoβs gone through puberty will have a puffy phase, even if itβs hard to see. But imma talk about The effects of T.
When you induce a testosterone led puberty you cause the system to do a couple things - burn fat, build muscle, put most of the body mass into the upper body, have heartier hair follicles... etc.
The body canβt do these things without radically and RAPIDLY (even though it may look slow) altering how your body processes metabolites. Your food. Your vitamins.
Old metabolic processes that were slacking (such as the use of dietary protien to make muscle) are gonna get FIRED up. However, think about when you crack a glowstick- thatβs the equivalent of cracking an amino acid molecule to make a muscle. Only your cells are cracking the glowstick WIDE open - releasing that toxic glowy stuff. Thatβs metabolic waste. One of the Metabolic wastes in the formation and breakdown of human muscle is ammonia, which attracts water and would puff up the skin.
Think about your cells as being full of little people. Itβs moving day. Testosterone, your landlord is knocking down your door. Get out.. NOW. Ammonia floods the bloodstream and the trashmen canβt keep up. (can you tell I live in a college town)?
TLDR: The puffy phase is caused by the byproducts of new metabolic reactions attracting water. Your body isnβt used to flushing these byproducts out. You may pee a lot or need to drink more water. Drink more water.
Sorry if that didnβt make sense.
