A list of puns related to "Macintosh Operating Systems"
hello, I love this game so much but I cannot find a version for macos even though in the description of the game it says that one of the platforms is βmacintosh operating systemsβ. plus, on steam they are only selling the windows option. does someone know where I could buy it or install it for mac?
Does anyone know where I can find a copy of the operating system for a Macintosh SE?
Basically, the title. Also, when I was actually booting my mac for the first time with mojave I had to do go through those start up agreements things. For one of those boxes it gave me the option to carry over any files that I had previously, I donβt know if the wording was just weird or if I was just really rushing because I wanted to play, I completely skipped that process and am now stuck on a default mac with some old icloud stuff from when it wansβt full. CAN I DO ANYTHING?
Hello all,
I've managed to land myself a new job... but it's with Apple, and I can count on one hand the number of times I've used their system: 2 (1996 and 2007).
I'm eager to learn, but don't have a mac, so I was hoping to use VirtualBox or something similar to play around with it and get a feel for the environment so I don't embarrass myself too badly.
How do I go about doing that? I've done a bit of research, and it seems VERY complicated, the only thing I can find is how to do it using windows, and even then it's for older versions of the system. Is there much difference between the latest one (High Sierra) and OSX lion or whatever it's called?
I am trying to turn a Raspberry Pi into an old Man, but I need a operating system to do this. The links I have found were in Czech, so that won't work. I'm looking for mostly OS 2, 3, and 7. Any help would be appreciated. Should this post be in the wrong subreddit, I would greatly appreciate guidance as to where this post is best suited. Thank you.
It's not safe to open windows in space.
I recently found a listing on eBay for a Macintosh SE that was a good price. Since Iβm very new to 68k Macs i tried doing some googling but got nothing so Iβm asking here. I found an eBay listing for System 6.0.8 800k floppy disks, included is System tools, Printing tools, and utilities 1 & 2. Which one of these disks will the Macintosh boot from? Iβve seen some videos of people using the System tools disks to boot a Mac from but I just want to be sure. Any replies will be great appreciated!
For me, it's the Adobe suite. Not that it's perfect, but the alternatives for most of its appa are really out of the competition, especially for Photoshop.
And since this subreddit requests that any post someone is thinking of posting here must have a number of words that surpasses an arbitrarily chosen number by someone who thought it's a reasonable words count to be chosen as a filter for any post that someone is thinking of posting here which must have a number of words that surpasses an arbitrarily chosen number by someone who thought it's a reasonable words count to be chosen as a filter for any post someone ...
Aero is a new modern, experimental, unix-like operating system following the monolithic kernel design. Supporting modern PC features such as long mode, 5-level paging, and SMP (multicore), to name a few.
Its already able to run programs such as the GNU coreutils, GNU binutils, Nyancat, TinyCC, GCC and soon doom generic and rust aswell :)

Hello everybody body, I am considering changing my laptop from windows to Linux arch, I watched tutorials, and I know the steps. But I want to make sure if changing OS may hurt my laptop, because it's my Main device, and I won't be able to change it.
... and call it BezOS
It should B Ez to use too
I've got a short list... but I'm looking for hidden gems.
Thanks!
I personally use Firefox on Fedora Linux.
In my Mac SE I have the soldered in place battery, if I cut the leads and remove the battery will the machine still operate Iβm trying to prevent any explosions.
Hello! I've been using Ubuntu for a while now, and so far, I love it. But I'm primarily talking about the UI when I compare it with another OS like Windows. What are some actual functional benefits of Linux over other operating systems? I'm not talking about things like Linux being open-source, free, more secure, etc. I'm learning App Dev, so are there any benefits that I can take advantage of on a day-to-day basis that makes my workflow easier? For example, I've heard of being able to automate some things using the bash scripts in the terminal. I'm sorry if I said something stupid and sound like a complete beginner; it's because I am.
Thank you for your time!
Linux is the worst operating system for the same reason.
That's it... that's all I've got.
Hi, I've been developing C++ / C# graphics (mainly OpenGL) for a while now and I want to switch to arch, I was wondering if arch is the kind of distro that forces you to learn what's going on under the hood (because I love that and I want to learn about operating systems) and if it has some good tools that help me develop faster and more efficiently, waiting for any advices. Thanks!
so, I like C++!
I was wondering if I could write an operating system in C++, with the bootloader of course being in assembly. All the operating systems Ive seen has had their kernels written in C, but I've been wondering if I could write a small kernel in C++. Would it be equal difficulty to C, or should I just learn C?
thanks!
Hello there! I am Daniel, and I am the creator, and lead-developer of LibertyOS. LibertyOS is an operating system, written in Rust, that I created out of a strong desire to write my own operating system. After nearly a decade of wanting to create an OS, I discovered Rust, and I realized that I could finally accomplish my goal.
In recent weeks, LOS has really been "blowing up" in popularity. The official Discord group has over 40 members, the repository has ~140 stars, and I just did an interview on a Rust-centered podcast (I don't know if I can say which one, but there aren't too many).
We have plenty of idea guys, which is a wonderful thing, but I am still the only person who knows how to develop the actual kernel. I don't know if this is the right place to do so, but I am asking for any help that this community can provide. More specifically, I am looking for people who know Rust, understand the basics of an operating system, know how to work without the standard library, and want to make something awesome.
If you cannot help, that is fine. I would ask that you still check out the repository, and maybe join the Discord group so we can all hang out. I am not giving up (I am far more interested in this project than ever before), but the project has really been doing well lately, and I could really use some help. :)

Thank you all! I love this community, and I look forward to sharing the awesome stuff that comes out of this project!
P.S. We are thinking of changing the name. We need something related to the concept of liberty, privacy, etc., so if you have an idea for a better name, please let me know! :)
What operating system do you run as your daily driver?
Hello to all!
I am currently developing a web application being a distributed operating system and I would like to have your feedback on the subject.
The idea is that today, we have multiple ways to represent a product or a service on a web page. The techniques and concepts evolving rapidly in the front-end domain, I had the idea to start again on the basis regarding the operability of a system. So I developed a web site taking the form of a command terminal.
Most of the Linux commands are implemented, so you can create folders and files in your directories as soon as you are connected. In the future, I want to provide video, image and audio playback applications, as well as make a torrent client.
The advantage of being on a distributed OS is that the filesystem of all users can be shared, which means that you can visit your neighbor's directory (except for the hidden folders).
Here you go, I hope you enjoy and I'm waiting for your feedback :)
