A list of puns related to "Land Border"
I just had the worst five days of my life feeling completely helpless. Trying to get a test to come back was nearly impossible, the system is SO strained right now because of the snowstorms and the holidays. Two of the biggest mobile testing companies were closing down all of most locations because the temps were too low.
If you are still planning to go down this weekend, you should try to book a rt-pcr before you go. If you canβt get an appointment, donβt assume you can just walk into a free testing site and have a result within 72 hours. A lot of these free sites are turning away travelers, and the list of free sites that did accept travelers are shrinking daily. They are also delayed so the test results could be released past 72 hours.
We tried to go to the border and plead our case, our dog was really sick for two days and we wanted to go back to our vet, but we got rejected and the border agent threatened us with a $5700x2 fine.
Thereβs also a huge risk of getting Covid right now and unclear information on if you can cross back with a positive test without getting a $10,000 fine.
Please do not cross the border right now. Itβs not worth the stress and extra costs. Push hard to get your accommodations refunded or rescheduled.
TL;DR didnβt want to walk away from a $1,000+ non refundable Airbnb and almost got stuck in the states for an extra 6-14 days. I made it back home but feel so guilty for going.
The appeal of this being a popular movement had me excited, but after being misled by the "pro democracy protests" in Hong Kong, Im weary to support just any popular movement now. Does anyone have any more insight?

If you said yes to one or more of these questions, then you and I have one or more things in common.
For your consideration I present the 'Bolt' Lands. A full cycle of Shards and Wedges, which enter tapped unless you pay 3 life, and...all have cycling for 3 as well. Overpowered? Maybe. Depends on the Cube (as it always does). I'm going to test these out in Ancient Times and report back if things are super broken.
What's the harm in better fixing? Discuss / Enjoy.

They couldn't point me to anything published online regarding said fines or any estimated amount. I just want to drive home and isolate for as long as they require me to. Does anyone have personal experience with this?
Edit: To clarify, you have to either have a negative COVID test, or a positive one from 14 days ago. The people that meet neither of those criteria are screwed apparently as I just found out today.
Does anyone know if there is an actual office that I can visit at any of the land border crossings in Niagara Falls?
I am trying to see if I can physically see someone to speak to. I was told by CBP I needed to submit a waiver form to re-enter the states, but the waiver form I was requested to submit does not apply to me. I am looking to have my paperwork reviewed at the border before I intend to cross over (I am afraid if I take my current paperwork to the border and try to cross, I may not have the correct paperwork and could result in 3-5 year ban). I have already consulted an immigration lawyer and they too have confirmed the waiver form does not apply to my situation.
I have made a ton of calls and left messages and emails to various consulates and border offices... I don't know if anyone on reddit knows but can't hurt to try at this point...
edit to include my situation: Canadian citizen here, I unknowingly overstayed during the first year of the pandemic. Upon re-entering the US, I was denied entry and was advised I could re-enter in 6 months with specific paperwork showing I had ties to Canada. I did so after 6 months, and without reason, the CBP at the US airport denied me entry and sent me back to Canada. They told me to fill out a specific waiver form and take it to the land border which according to my lawyer makes no sense as this specific waiver form cannot be submitted at the land border and needs to be done online. But also this specific waiver form does not apply to me as they already provided requirements on how I could re-enter which I met.
In case anyone is looking to better understand the process of crossing over the land border from Mexico to Belize I thought Iβd make a post as I just did it a few days ago. This is all simply based on my experience and research I saw, but it may have changed since I was there.
We crossed over the border early in the morning in January 14, 2022. Overall the border crossing was an extremely easy process and I wouldnβt hesitate to do it again. There are a few things that are good to understand ahead of time. First, note that there is a one hour time change between Mexico and Belize. Check the times of the border opening as well. We were told the Mexican border is open 24/7 but Belize there are specific hours. There are also 2 borders (one is the Mexican border for leaving Mexico, the second is the Belizean border to enter Belize). In the middle is about a mile or two of road that neither country owns. You cannot walk across the border, you need to take a taxi. I donβt believe youβll be able to take 1 taxi as the Mexican taxis will not cross the border to the Belize side, so we had 2 total taxis we used.
Mexico Side - We had a taxi pick us up from our hotel in Chetumal in the morning and he drove us through the Mexican side of the border. It cost about 300 pesos which we were told by the hotel is normal. He drove us to the Mexican side of the border where our bags were quickly looked at by officials and then we got back into the taxi. Next we went to the immigration office on the Mexico side. They stamped our passport and took our immigration form that we were given by the airline when we entered Mexico. We heard about people getting scammed at this part and having to pay the tourism fee. We didnβt have any issues or questions, but we did have screenshots of our flight entering Mexico information which is said to include it (I looked at this site that explained the fee a little more https://belizebus.wordpress.com/2020/01/12/crossing-the-border-from-chetumal-to-corozal/). After our passports were stamped we got back in our Mexican taxi and he drove us through the mile of road that neither country owns and dropped us off at the Belizean border.
Belize Border - At the Belizean border we said goodbye to our Mexican taxi driver and were given a few forms to fill out for entering Belize. AT THIS POINT YOU WANT TO MAKE SURE YOU PREVIOUSLY HAD A TAXI ARRANGED TO MEET YOU AT THE BELIZE BORDER!! We had a Belizean taxi driver waiting for us (Venancio Dominguez Taxi,

The tabled Russian demands focus a lot on indefinitely foreclosing the future movement of certain Western materiel into Ukraine. But I have also noticed a lot of head scratching about whether the Kremlin would really be willing to face the kind of urban combat and open-ended insurgency that could come with actually conquering most or all of the country.
There are other models for militarily addressing such a dilemma, however. Turkey's approach to northern Syria (and to some extent northern Iraq), the US coalition's approach to Iraq between 1991 and 2003, Israel/Palestine, and maybe even the Union's Mississippi River campaign in the American Civil War come to mind. And politically, there could be a parallel drawn to the Cuban Missile Crisis situation.
So it occurs to me to wonder what it would look like if Russia chose only to control Ukraine's borders rather than its interior. The mini Romania border on the Black Sea south of Odessa looks very manageable with Russia's sea control. The Moldova border is basically the Russian client Transnestria sub-state. The rest of the Romania border, save for a pocket of towns, is behind the Carpathian Mountains, which presents some challenges in a potential counter-insurgency but also limits the number of routes that need to be controlled. And the Polish border up to Belarus is much easier terrain, though the near-border roads run through a network of small towns anchored by Lviv sitting a bit further eastward.
It would probably be safe to assume total Russian air superiority. In Iraq, this was used to maintain the "no-fly zones" which were also effectively no-drive zones for the movement of any significant regime forces. (I'll ignore for the moment whether this would precipitate a showdown over arms supply from the West by air). Wide area surveillance and the constant maintenance of nearby air assets would be needed to deter major conventional attack from the interior, assuming a full-scale invasion threat would not do the trick itself.
And so the question: what would be the minimum logistical and territorial-control commitments required to establish such a cordon and provide it reasonable security against likely threats? Is it feasible to leave large population centers like Lviv a few miles away from such a strip as long as air superiority is maintained? Do the towns along the Polish border themselves add up to too many people and too much built-up terrain to effectively manage as an invading and then occupying
... keep reading on reddit β‘I have to travel for work tomorrow and will be driving across the land border to the US. I tested positive for COVID with a PCR test (was identified as a close contact, but was asymptomatic) on December 22nd, 2021 and completed my isolation period. I have a rush PCR test booked for tomorrow morning so I have the results within the 72 hour window for my return.
From the travel.gc.ca site, I understand I can travel with a positive test result if the results were from at least 14 days ago, which in my case they are. However, the results I have from December are from eHealth Ontario, and cover my last name and first few digits of my health card. Is this enough to note at the border that I have recovered?
I know that it is possible that my PCR test comes back positive tomorrow. I just wasnβt sure if I could use my eHealth Ontario results to show that I have recovered, or if that isnβt enough to stay in the US for another 14 days instead.
Has anyone been in a similar situation?
I need to jump across the border to Buffalo for no more than 1hr maybe 2 at most. What is the current rules in place because Ive been reading what I can but it's confusing. I am fully vaxxed with booster. If I have to quarantine when I come back that's fine as I wfh. Thx.
My neighbour seems to think I cant have gardens on my side of our shared front lawn, because supposedly the raised garden beds count as "regrading" the front lawn (in his mind). And a raised garden bed will prevent access to water and sewer in case of emergency on our easement.
He has a survey map. I do not.
How do I get ahold of one of these maps? We never got one when we bought our half of the semi-detached, but they did.
Or how much does surveying a small property cost in HRM?
Any help is appreciated!
