Either Sixth or Seventh college should be named after the Kumeyaay people

UCSD is built on Kumeyaay land and although some professors inform their students of this (or students find this out on their own), I think the university should make a larger effort to acknowledge the Native American people whose land they stole.

Any way to get this idea to the higher ups?

Flat rock areas: outdoor art, or a Kumeyaay holy site?

Last weekend, I finally climbed a hill that I've been wanting to for a long time (it's in East County, I don't want to reveal the exact location). The side of the hill consists of the usual chaparral, except for about 7 areas that are exposed bedrock, somewhat smoothed by erosion. The size/area of these ranges from about the size of two tennis courts to the size of a football field. Each of these rock areas is connected to the next by a path, without which you couldn't get from one to another without some serious bushwhacking. As I made my way up the hill across each rock area in turn, I noticed that somebody had left LOTS of little rock cairns, which made navigating through the rock areas much easier than it would have been otherwise. As I got closer to the top, I noticed some little collections of shiny pieces of quartz in depressions in the bedrock surface. Also interesting and beautiful assemblages of dead manzanita branches. And then I started noticing what seemed like altars which included little collections of quartz rocks, manzanita branches, and other small bits of nature. Clearly all made my humans. So it seems someone has spent a lot of time making the trails, the cairns, and the assemblages/altars. Other than those, I saw no trace of humans, for example not one speck of trash, which was refreshing. At first I thought the assemblages were art pieces, kind of like Andy Goldsworthy, but then it occurred to me the whole hill might be sacred to the local Native people. I'm looking for information about this place....who maintains it? What's the significance of the assemblages? Please PM me if you know for sure what the heck it's all about. Please don't ask for the location, I'm not going to mention that publicly, at least not right now.

Trump Administration is illegally destroying Native American Burial Sites and The Kumeyaay people are actively protesting now to shut down the work. They really need their voices amplified

The Kumeyaay people have repeatedly tried to halt the construction of the border wall through their sacred land. A private company is continuing to build the wall even as they are unearthing bone fragments and sacred artifacts, while the Trump Administration is waiving all federal regulations meant to prevent such infringement upon Native lands.

People need to be aware of this atrocity playing out in real time. Just today the Kumeyaay people have begun a sit in protest to halt the work. They need public support and outcry against this injustice. I've been in direct contact with the Kumeyaay and they have set up a twitter to post video updates on exactly what's happening down there its: @ Kumeyaayprotest check it out to see for yourself.

The Kumeyaay people really need their voices amplified right now so if you could signal boost their message on that twitter it could actually have a positive impact on a people that have been historically swept under the rug.

Feel free to ask me any questions about the matter. The mainstream news has yet to pick up this story as it's literally unfolding today. If anyone has any connections to news sites, journalist, or anyone with a platform they really need us all right now.
