>Philadelphia 76ers guard Danny Green couldnโt wait to see Golden State Warriors star Klay Thompson back on the court after over two years away from the game due to recovering from a torn ACL, followed by a ruptured Achilles a year later.
>
>The origin of Thompsonโs 177-game absence occurred in Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals between the Warriors and Toronto Raptors. Green was a member of that Raptors championship team, and he was whistled for a foul after he attempted a chase-down block on Thompson. The collision caused the five-time All-Star to land awkwardly on his left leg, tearing his ACL.
>
>"If I can take that play back, I would,โ Green told Yahoo Sports on Sunday night. โNo one wants to see a great player go down, and no one wants to be the cause of that. It wasn't intentional. Iโm glad that heโs back. The game has missed him.โ
>
>Green, a three-time NBA champion, said he felt bad about his role in Thompson losing significant time. Initially, there was a sizable sector of Warriors fans who believed his contact with Thompson in the air was a dirty play.
>
>โWhen it first happened, I thought I blocked the ball,โ Green told Yahoo Sports. โI thought it was a clean block and then he went down, I was like, โMan, heโs hurt. Let me make sure heโs OK.โ Some of the guys on the sidelines were upset. A lot of fans were upset. Obviously, I got a lot of backlash for it. But I'm trying to make a clean play on the ball, and I just wanted to make sure he was good. And then he came back on the court to shoot his free throws, and that's when I thought he was fine.
>
>โI didn't know that he tore anything until after the game, which was a tough blow. It was tough to hear what was being said, but I didn't look at myself as the victim. My concern was for him. Their fans are great fans. Theyโre going to encourage their team. And anybody that tries to hurt or do anything to the other 10 or 13 players, they're gonna fight for them. So, I got some heated emotions from some of the fans, but every time I've spoken about the incident, I've stated that it was not purposeful at all.โ
>
>โFor him to get back, it took a lot of persistence, man,โ Green told Yahoo Sports. โIt took resilience. He's a great player, so I never doubted that. Heโs a true warrior, no pun intended. A lot of people, including myself and the fans, are excited that heโs back. Weโve all been looking forward to seeing Klay be the Klay that we have know
"I know myself. I know how good I am. I know the things I've done. ... It's like -- how many times do I have to do something that no one else has ever done before and get respect? Do I have to go score 50 in a quarter now? Like, what the hell? It's whatever though, man. It's over with. I'm going to use it as fuel."
"I'm excited to get out there and prove to people who I am," Thompson says. "I know they forgot because I've been out for two years, but I've never been hungrier seeing that stuff. Never been hungrier. And the best way at revenge is to win. Seriously."

> โI drew the first up play โฆ for him to catch it and move it on,โ Kerr said. โI should have known better.โ
> In the locker room, the game ball was given to him by his Splash Nephew, Canon Curry. A gift from the future, punctuating the present jubilation, because Thompson got past the roughest patch of his life.
> โThrew him a nice crisp pass,โ said Curry, whose 3-year-old also delivered Moses Moody the game ball after his first career basket. โThen he wanted a pass back and said, โI want to play basketball.โ And Klay gave it to him. So Klayโs second pass went to Canon.โ
> โI still remember in the 2016 Olympics, weโre all staying in the village,โ Bogut said. โThe USA (menโs basketball team), as you know, theyโre too big-time for the village. They have them on a cruise liner or whatever they stay at. But we get back from practice one day, like middle of the tournament, got off the bus and in the village weโre walking to our residences. And I see Klay. As Iโm on the bus I see Klay just walking around, Team USA gear, headphones on, just walking by himself.
> โSo I jump off the bus, Iโm like, โKlay, what are you doing, man?โ Say hello to him. He goes, โYeah, I just wanted to come see the village.โ He just came by himself, no security, no other players with him. Then heโs like, โWhere are you going?โ I said, โIโm just going back to the Australian quarters.โ And heโs, โCan I come with you?โ Iโm like, โYeah, no worries.โ
> โAnd he came with us, hung out with a few of our players, because he knows Aron Baynes and Brock Motum. Came and said hello to them. And then fast-forward two or three hours later, I thought heโd left. I walked downstairs to go to dinner or whatever and heโs downstairs playing ping-pong with, like, someone from the athletics team on the Australian national team, you know?โ
In the regular season: Klay Thompson: 616 games played, 20,360 minutes played. Kyrie Irving: 583 games played, 19,745 minutes played.
In the playoffs: Klay Thompson: 123 games played, 4,569 minutes played. Kyrie Irving: 70 games played, 2,546 minutes played.
It really tells you something about the availability of Irving, it has been a issue through his entire career.
Klay was basically an Iron Man before the 2019 injury, he missed just 25 regular season games before his injury, and played in all the playoff games until his injury.
Edit: Klay did miss one playoff game before his injury: game 3 of the 2019 finals.

Just looked up his stats after it came out he may play this Sunday. But dudes rookie season was 10 years ago.
Heโs averaged over 20 ppg only 5 seasons.
Even his career average is under 20 ppg.
Heโs never averaged over 4 RBS a game any season ever.
All that being said, I think heโs a great player and going to win more championships and have a real high caliber future as well.
But at this moment. Heโs nowhere near top 75, and heโs crazy to be upset he isnโt.
Edit: it seems most agree with me for the most part. I think the thing I learned the most is that role players that play at that high a level canโt be judged just off stats. That is very true. As I said , I think his future is huge. When he retires I think there will be no doubt heโs top 75.
But one last thing. I know heโs great, he really is, but a lot of people saying heโs top 3 spot up/ catch and shoot/ jump shooters/3pt shooters ever, is a bit much. Lol maybe top 10. And I know he had that one game with that one 37 point quarter. But if thatโs your main argument then let me tell you about Brandon Jennings. Lol
Kendra Andrews: โThe Warriors beat a fully healthy Jazz team in Utah 123-116 without Draymond Green. Exactly a week ago they beat a fully healthy Suns team in Phoenix without Wiggins and Poole. Pretty astounding theyโre doing this all without Klay Thompson.โ https://twitter.com/kendra__andrews/status/1477501348228698112?s=21

I think it's safe to say Klay Day was a success
>Juan Toscano-Anderson says in a recent Warriors scrimmage, Klay Thompson scored 12 points in 43 seconds. Thought to himself: โWow. You mean we got two guys that can do that?โ
>JTA on Klay in a recent scrimmage: "Heโs buckets."
>Juan Toscano-Anderson on Klay's return: 'The magnitude . . . is so big for us, for the (GS) Warriors organization, but just for the Bay, too. Klay is beloved in the Bay. Klay is one of us. Klay could move to Oakland forever. Klay could move to 95th (Avenue) if he wants to.'
>How Iโm pulling up to chase tomorrow, Bill Murray is my spirit animal . IM SO EXCITED TO SEE YALL DUBNATION ! LETS GET IT
Very very solid return from him after not having played for 2.5 years. Definitely good signs that bode well for the future.
A few hours ago someone made a post in here asking what Klay's stat line would be today.
I guessed 17-3-1
The guy took the post down!
So I'm looking for my congratulations.
Thank you in advance.
