A list of puns related to "Kitty Genovese"
Hello,
While I'm all very happy that apes are finally doing the DRS through ComputerShare (and I wish I could do the same from France -- the only country that's left outside).
I think it's probably the way to initiate the MOASS, and own/reduce the "real" float leaving no room for lending shares.
I think we cracked the code... yet, there's a big risk of killing the momentum.... and I would do the same if I were a SHF.
If I were a SHF, I would make shills post tons and tons and tons of screenshots of registering/transfering/buying their shares through ComputerShare.
This way, it would trigger a very well known effect in psychology called the "Bystander effect".
For example, you see an accident on the road, you see dozen of people around you, and.. you move on. You're saying to yourself "nah, it's good, people in front of me have probably called for help already".
The more the people, the more the bystander effect happens. There's a lot of studies on it, based mainly of the very well known case of the murder of Kitty Genovese.
The poor woman, screamed, shouted, yelled all the way... at least 38 people interacted with her, yet... no one called the police. Everyone thought the next person had already done it.
Imagine we are not 38, but 600K+ people in here. It's even worse and this is the big risk in here. If ComputerShare DRS is really the MOASS. Then by flooding the sub with many-many-many people doing that.... you might think "nah, I'm good, no need to do that, other apes are already doing it".
That's how they can fuck us, big time.
It's only my 2 cents and of course, not saying all the apes posting their registration are shills. I deeply thank you for your service and would do the same if I could from here.
But no one should think that it's "enough", because the SHF could win very-very big this way.
Cheers !
So, I had learned a bit about the murder of Kitty Genovese in school, but never about the fact that there were so many gays involved in the story and how much the fact that they were gay impacted what happened.
For those who don't know, the story that was popularized is that there were 38 people who witnessed her murder, but nobody called the police because they didn't care. Her family then presumably mourned her, but it is usually left that the people who lived in her neighborhood didn't care, even her roommate. At best, you get a bit of debunking that there weren't actually 38 perfect witnesses, and somebody did call the police early on (though they ignored it because it seemed like a domestic dispute), but that there was a random guy who heard her, came out of his apartment, saw that she was being attacked, and then went back in and did nothing because he didn't care.
But that guy wasn't random. And he didn't do nothing. But he also didn't call the police. But that wasn't because he didn't care. He was a friend of Kitty's, and he called a friend of his to try and figure out what to do. Why didn't he call the cops instead? Well, first, nobody trusted the cops in the area, but second, because he was gay, and the cops would have been an even bigger issue, and third, because Kitty was a lesbian, which would have also made the cops even worse of an issue. The cops were finally called after he was able to get a hold of Kitty's neighbor, a nice straight lady who also rushed over and held her as she died.
Okay, so there were obviously some people in her community who cared about her. But what was that about the roommate? Oh, yeah. The cops immediately started questioning her as a murder suspect despite having multiple descriptions of the murderer from the first police call to the gay friend which didn't at all describe her. But why did they go after her, then? Because she wasn't just Kitty's roommate, she was her girlfriend.
So, your girlfriend just got murdered and the police are treating you as a prime suspect despite having a clear description that doesn't at all match you just because of who you love. How can this get worse? Oh yeah, her somewhat estranged family (because they weren't too happy about her being a lesbian) deciding now is when they want to care about their daughter and keeping you and the rest of your community away from her funeral. A community that cared deeply about this young woman who was really proud of who she loved.
Kitty Genove
... keep reading on reddit β‘You dont, someone else will.
Now, I don't 100% believe this myself. But whilst re reading the Psychiatrist chapter to nights ago, things just clicked that Walter may or may not have been a serial killer.
Aside from his horrendous childhood, (ABusive mother, stunted likely due to malnourishment, ugly, reputation as the son of a prostitute) there were more hard clues. He has a perverse distaste of women due to his mother.
He also has some form of concept of aesthetic beauty, as he even is willing to describe the dress he fashions his mask out of, as "Beautiful. Very Beautiful" despite being a female garment.
That dress with the moving ink, was intended for Kitty genovese. The famous rape and murder victim in New york, where people just watched from their balconies. Moore weaved it into the story. Rorschach after leaving the care home at age 16 went into manual labour in the garment industry. Worked on her dress. She refused to pick it up because she thought it was ugly.
I think there is a decent chance Walter killed her. He describes knowing how many people were watching her be raped and murdered. He ay have glimpsed that from the newspaper, however the artwork employed for those two cells, was a point of view looking upwards at people through windows and on their balconies staring down.
He also stresses to Malcom the psychiatrist, "do you understand?"
It could be interpreted that was his viewpoint. ANd he was disgusted that people stood by and watched. The same way nobody helped him in his childhood.
Remember he knew who Kitty was. He had her order form. SHe also described something he found as beautiful, as ugly.
I's at this point the Rorschch persona begins to show itself. He makes the mask and begins some crusading against crime. "WE do this because we are compelled"
The little girl. when describing that case "Decided to intervene. Promised parents to return her unharmed"
He did have to break 15 peoples joints to get the information on her location. But upon finding out there's some interesting clues. "Disused dress makers in brooklyn"
A connection to Walter. Being his day job has been in the garment industry.
One peculiar point to notice, is that after he finds the butchering tools. And deduces poor Blaire has been fed to the dogs, he walks outside with the cleaver. THese viscous dogs who were previously fighting over what looked like her femur now turn to ROrschach, and look friendly. Viciousness reduced. Tongues out, friendly looks. Fo
Thanks!!!
Hi all,
I know this isn't an unsolved mystery (and hope this is still allowed here) but thought it may interest some of you!
A new documentary on Netflix (UK anyway) about Kitty Genovese but instead of focusing on her death, it's more about her life and also the phenomenon of the 38 and how that might not be entirely true!
A good watch, I learnt a lot about the case that I had never known before!
Just like the title says, are you aware of any other case similar to the Kitty Genovese murder where a crime was committed that could have been topped in front of witnesses and nobody ended up doing anything?
