Background
Dakota Pacific owns the land at Kimball Junction to the West of the visitor center. On that land, they currently own the rights to develop:
- 1,200,000 square feet (SF) worth of "Tech Park" office space
They are seeking permission to instead build a mixed-use neighborhood which would include:
- 1,029,000 SF of market-rate residences (764 units)
- 335,000 SF of below-maket-rate residences (336 units)
- 120,000 SF of office space
- 85,000 SF of medical offices
- 31,000 SF of commercial/retail

Format of December 1, 2021 Public Hearing
The meeting tonight (December 1, 2021) had a 1-hour presentation by Dakota Pacific explaining why they should be allowed to develop this new mixed-use neighborhood instead of the "Tech Park" office space. There was then a much-shorter presentation by the Summit County Planning Commission where they summarized why the proposed changes received a negative recommendation from the Planning Commission. (The Summit County Council will eventually have the final vote on this project, and their own Planning Commission is recommending to the councilors that they vote to decline the proposed amendments.) There was then a public comment period wherein anyone who wanted to comment would be heard.
Summary of public comment
The vast majority of public comment was in opposition to the changes. (In other words, the vast majority of the public commenters want the land to be built out as an office park, not a mixed-use neighborhood).
The following arguments were made by the public in favor of the mixed-use neighborhood:

Affordable housing is needed by people who would like to move to Summit County, including people who have worked within County lines for a long time but have never been able to live here.

It is difficult for businesses in the area to hire workers, since not enough people can afford to live here.

If the NCR really cares about this and that's the best they can do, its lacklustre. If they are at least taking it somewhat seriously, since Kimball's career as president hinges on this, and this is the best he could give to the cause then its lacking. Either, the President dosen't have that much power in the NCR or this is really the best they could do.
And the president himself makes a visit over there to Hoover Dam, is he that confident he won't be assassinated, as we know without Courier intervention his death is a certain.

today my YW leader said helen mar kimball was an orphan and joseph smith could not afford to adopt her legally, so he married her but really he was just taking care of her and feeding her and giving her a home and stuff? like playing a parental role?

The 20th anniversary special just posted where they pick the 20 favorite recipes for the last 20 years and in this special there is zero mention of Christopher Kimball and they literally post some old video from the episodes and carefully edit out any footage that includes him. Utterly bizarre. Either acknowledge the past or don’t make an episode celebrating a show with a guy who isn’t on it any more.
I can't imagine this is the first time this has come up on this subreddit, but I was wondering if there was a faithful evaluation of the situation with Joseph marrying Helen Mar Kimball at 14. Generally curious if it's as bad as it sounds, and if there is enough historical records to draw any conclusions. Thank you!

He has no grounds to file a complaint, let alone sue, Come From Away. He made a choice to publicly advocate not wearing masks, which is a stance that could result in more cases and possibly more deaths. In the moment he stated what he did, he completely disregarded the safety of others. Now, he's hiding behind his religion to divert attention away from his mistakes. Come From Away had every right to fire him over it.
Besides, Tony LePage did a better job in the proshot then Kimball could've ever done.
