A list of puns related to "John Rutledge"
Hello, and welcome to a little series I will be doing where I give brief descriptions about each of our 17 Chief Justices. This is meant to be an informative series that potentially sparks discussion about some of the more forgotten Chiefs in American history. I originally posted these on r/supremecourt , before I knew this sub was a thing. Let me know what you think, and remember, I am always willing to hear about anything you might want me to amend or insert when in comes to the paragraphs. I will start with Presidents Washington's record three Chief Justice nominees...
John Jay:
Born- December 12, 1745, in New York
Served - Oct 19, 1789 June 29, 1795
Nominated by- George Washington
Notable Case- Chisholm v. Georgia
Brief description
John Jay is most known for being a Founding Father, and one of the most important outside of Washington, Jefferson, Franklin, and the like. He wrote the Federalist Papers along with James Madison and Alexander Hamilton, and was very active in American politics before Washington was elected President. As Chief Justice, he had little to do deciding only 6 cases in 4 years. This was because Judicial Review had not yet been established.
John Rutledge:
Born- September 17, 1739, in South Carolina
Served - Aug 12, 1795 - Dec 28, 1795
Nominated by- George Washington
Notable Case- Talbot v. Janson
Brief description
John Rutledge was only Chief for 128 days, the shortest tenure of any Chief Justice. President Washington appointed Rutledge while the Senate was in recess, and when the Senate finally reconvened to confirm Rutledge, the vote failed. Before he could become the first Chief Justice to be unwillingly removed from the center seat, he resigned. Despite not being confirmed by the Senate, he was commissioned as the Chief Justice and took the Judicial Oath making him an official Chief Justice
Olliver Ellsworth:
Born- April 29, 1745, in Connecticut
Served - Mar 8, 1796 - Dec 15, 1800
Nominated by George Washington
Notable Case- Calder v. Bull
Brief description
Ellsworth is not well remembered today and his tenure as Chief Justice reflects this. Ellsworth did little as Chief Justice, and, near the end of his tenure, most of his time was spent as an envoy to France. Before being Chief Justice he was an inaugural Connecticut Senator where he authored the Judiciary Act of 1789. He also advocated for the Bill of Rights and the Jay Treaty.

I keep finding conflicted information on who Anne Rutledge (1650 Ireland/Scotland -1725 Ireland) is. Some genealogy sources say she's Anne Stewart Rutledge (of the Stewarts of Balquhidder) and other sources just list her as Anne Rutledge (1590 Scotland - 1725 Ireland) with no parental or children information.
For comparison, her husband John Rutledge was born 1648 Scotland and died 1717 in Ireland.
I don't know what to do. Everything I research is conflicted.
What should I do?

The constitutionalists had many candidates for president, however many growing party leaders believing a divided party could cause the republicans to win the presidential election, and henceforth, the constitutionalists decided to hold a convention to nominate their presidential candidate who voters and electors of their party would all rally behind and support.
John Jay:
John Jay from New York is a major supporter of the the John treaty and believes the new nation must have close relations with Great Britain. John Jay is also known for his Protestantism believing non Protestants shouldn’t be allowed to vote or hold political office. He supports moderate to high tarrifs, a national bank, army, internal improvements and the creation of a cabinet, however Jay is more skeptical about domestic taxation than other constitutionalists. John Jay would support a bill of rights if the first amendment was removed from the bill.
John Adams:
John Adams from Massachusetts, well known as a fiery speaker in the continental congress against Great Britain has reluctantly supported the John Treaty viewing it as a necessary compromise, but wishes to try and keep america out of as many conflicts as possible under the terms of the treaty. He is a critic of slavery and supports gradual abolition. He supports high tarrifs, a national army and bank, domestic taxation, internal improvements, the creation of a cabinet and a bill of rights.
John Rutledge:
As an important delegate in the creation of the constitution and a well known figure within South Carolinian politics. He would stay in line with the constitutionalists on a national army, bank and internal improvements but was more centrist on tarrifs. He supports slavery and a bill of rights, opposes the creation of a cabinet and opposed the John treaty believing it should be repealed and that america should distance themselves from Great Britain.
Benjamin Lincoln:
From Massachusetts, Lincoln shared both political and military experience, however his political experience is minimum. He broke the party line on a national army believing the federal government should subsidise state militias. He is also anti slavery but has no proposals

The 1788–89 United States presidential election was the first quadrennial presidential election. It was held from Monday, December 15, 1788, to Saturday, January 10, 1789, under the new Constitution ratified that same year. George Washington was unanimously elected for the first of his two terms as president and John Adams became the first vice president. This was the only U.S. presidential election that spanned two calendar years without a contingent election.

Under the Articles of Confederation, which was ratified in 1781, the United States had no head of state. Separation of the executive function of government from the legislative was incomplete similar to countries that use a parliamentary system. Federal power, strictly limited, was reserved to the Congress of the Confederation whose "President of the United States in Congress Assembled" was also chair of the Committee of the States which aimed to fulfill a function similar to that of the modern Cabinet.
The Constitution created the offices of President and Vice President, fully separating these offices from Congress. The Constitution established an Electoral College, based on each state's Congressional representation, in which each elector would cast two votes for two candidates, a procedure modified in 1804 by the ratification of the Twelfth Amendment. States had varying methods for choosing presidential electors.[2] In five states, the state legislature chose electors. The other six chose electors through some form involving a popular vote, though in only two states did the choice depend directly on a statewide vote in a way even roughly resembling the mod
