A list of puns related to "Jagjaguwar"
It's Wednesday, you know what that means.
WHO: Darius Van Arman and Chris Swanson are the two co-founders of the Secretly Group, a collection of labels that includes Secretly Canadian, Dead Oceans and of course, Jagjaguwar, which was founded by Arman in 1996. A friend of Arman, Adam Busch, was part of a band called The Curious Digit that needed a new label, and so Arman sought to it and founded Jagjaguwar, making The Curious Digit's Bombay Aloo the first release under his new label, with the name being generated using a Dungeons & Dragons character name-generating computer program. Soon after Richmond band Drunk learned about the label, with Arman booking a show for them at The Tokyo Rose in Charlottesville, VA and signing them shortly thereafter. In 1999, Arman would partner up with Swanson (who founded the Secretly Canadian label the same year Arman founded Jagjaguwar) to form the Secretly Group, and now...
WHY: Jagjaguwar is celebrating its 25th anniversary with the release of Join The Ritual, a compilation out this Friday featuring current & former roster members (plus one very close friend) covering 11 tracks that encompass the history of the label and its artists, plus the labels that inspired them. The album features Angel Olsen, They Hate Change, Cut Worms, Nap Eyes, Okay Kaya, Pink Mountaintops, S. Carey and more as they deliver their own renditions of formative cuts from Smog, Stereolab, Simon Joyner, Built to Spill, R.E.M., Teenage Fanclub, Low and more!
WHEN: Arman and Swanson will join us for an AMA this Friday, September 24th at 1pm ET/10am PT!
Chris Swanson from Jagjaguwar here. Founding partner Darius Van Arman and I are going live on Indieheads at 1 pm est SHARP for AMA to answer all your questions about Jagjaguwar's rich history. SEE YOU IN THE APP.
bracing for the downvotes!!! I as much as anybody was stoked to hear the new track- but I think we were all expecting something else when they called it a "big week". Was there something I missed or was the single what made the big week? Also there was something about them indicating their favorite album. What did that come out to be?
