My family spend most of their time in that place and I fucking hate it. It's like these so called prabhujis have brainwashed by parents to core. They even told me to spend Republic Day at ISKCON.
First they were followers of that Gurmeet Ram Rahim, now this. They keep on chanting Hare Krishna mantra all fucking day in the house.
First of all ISKCON is nothing but an organisation comprising of Vaishnavite Hindus.
There are four major denominations of Dharma(although the diff is not that much) -
- Vaishnavism
- Shaivism
- Shaktism
- Smartism
I am a Vaishnavite Hindu who belongs to the Sampradaya (spiritual master-disciple lineage) of Brahma-Madhav-Gaudiya.
Brahma because started by him. Madhav refers to Madhavacharya who was an important acharya of this lineage.
And those who think we are diluting Hinduism and all that nonsense, we are more devout practising Vaishnavs than most of you people.
We strictly follow these 4 regulations :-
- No meat eating. ( few Vaishnav schools are a bit lenient on this)
- No Intoxication.
- No gambling.
- No illicit sex. (Sex outside marriage strictly prohibited)
From chanting 16 rounds of Hare Krishna Mahamantra to following these strict regulations and observing fasts on Ekadashi, we are more devout than you ISKCON haters.
Today you would see so many Hindu girls engaging in bullsh*t pheminism and sexual liberation and all that stuff. You would never see us doing such things. So stop hating us.
Instead let all Hindus stand united against the existential crisis we are facing from Communists, Marxists, and minions of Abrahmic cults and not just keep fighting among ourselves.
And if you still have grudges against them, then forgive them. Itna bhi kya nafrat krna?

Unlike missionaries we don't tell them that your entire bloodline is in hell because they were not Hindus. Instead they get to know about, Karma, reincarnation, moksha, bhakti, yoga etc. which at least gives them a different perspective even if they don't revert to Dharma.

Like many cults, ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness or Hare Krishna movement) has its set of weird rules about sex-life of its members.
First of all, forget masturbation and premarital sex. It's strict No. They even have a booklet describing the position to sleep in and taking shower while wearing a dhoti/towel, so you won't look at your own genitals and get aroused to masturbate.
If you think you'll enjoy sex after getting married to a fellow Hare Krishna member, you can't be more wrong. In Prabhupada's (founder of ISKCON) own words "There are restrictions for the householders even in sex life, which should only be engaged in for the propagation of children. If he does not require children, he should not enjoy sex life with his wife." Apparently, people who use contraceptives are demoniac in nature according to Mr Prabhupada. (Source: Bhagvadgita As it Is, Chapter 16, Verse 1&2 Purport)
Suppose, if you follow the previous rule and come to a point where you decide to have children. Now you can engage in sex with your own spouse without angering the God and Mr Prabhupada! Cheers! But it's not as simple as that. You've to go through a small rituals of chanting 50 Rounds of Hare Krishna Mahamantra (ie 50x108 times chanting Hare Krishna Mahamantra). It takes approximately 2 hours to do 16 rounds. So you can calculate how much time you need to do 50 Rounds. And you have to do it every time you are trying for children. Also, I've heard that you are supposed to declare to your immediate Guru that you'll be "trying tonight".
Now, let's take a look at Mr Prabhupada's life. Although he was from an affluent family and was well educated, at the age of 22 he married an 11 year old girl. And she gave birth to a child when she was 14. On multiple occasions, Mr Prabhupada has stated that he hated his wife. And yet he had atleast 3 children with her. What a lovely Guru! What a lovely cult!
Tldr: No sex unless it's with your wife and also for producing children. Also, 6 hours of chanting every time before doing the "sin".

I'm an Indian teen who's a Hindu, most of the hateful things that ISKCON teaches my family doesn't accept and they didn't follow the cult. I developed a certain distance from my family cuz of these idiots, they say to stay away from people who eat non-vegetarian food.
Their views about Sex and Mastrubation are pretty wierd as well, Hinduism generally is not against sex and stuff and it's not known as a sin as long as it's consensual. But ISKCON says something else, well even having sexual urges was something to be ashamed of in their eyes (not that I never talked about this with them, heard through their books and videos)
Like alright excessive Mastrubation can cause a lot of problems, but a normal healthy level is encouraged isn't it? Like I'm a teen and atleast once a month I have this urge to just fap, looking more into it, actually it's normal according to science because of adolescence and stuff.
They've literally tried so hard to manipulate me, they even tried to control my watching habits by saying "Don't post anything not related to God on Instagram stories" Even if I talk normally to girls, ask for help just like a normal friend, still they will try to make me feel bad and like it's a sin, it's bad and stuff.....
Like I'm a practicing Hindu but Hinduism never tries to control your life like this.
I've been healing but it still sometimes takes a toll on me and I get into the loophole of thinking that i shouldn't have left. Although my conviction is firm still I just feel low thinking about those people (especially that I sometimes have to talk to them in school, but it's just for some more time till I change schools)

I'm not trying to stir up any controversy here. My opinion is based on some of the experiences I have had, today being one.
A little bit of background about what I practice. I am a Hindu by birth and choice. I pray to Gods who I feel close to and am enthusiastic about festivals and visiting temples. My relationship with God is personal is what I believe. I believe in Him and try to follow the good that is taught to me from people who are well versed in their understanding about the religion. I have recently started studying the Gita. Studying Gita has made me feel closer to Sri Krishna, not in a fanatic way (I don't have anything against it. In fact, I get a tad bit jealous about their Bhakti towards him) but in an inexplicable way. I wouldn't call myself a paramabhakta. I wouldn't say I exist without His knowledge.
Coming to the topic of ISKCON and what is making me write this post -
- When I was in school, we used to get sent to ISKCON to participate in some of the sessions meant for children. This was usually associated with some games. The monks would pick someone randomly to play the game. I was just a kid back then, around 8-10 yo. These monks used to focus on only those kids who used to answer what they wanted to hear. Me being a curious kid asked questions and I was always hushed up, the monks pretended to not notice me or listen to me. This happened to not just me but a few other kids who asked questions.
- I have a family member who is a member of ISKCON. I respect her and like her as a person too. But everytime I talk to her, she somehow tries to push me to get into ISKCON. There are instances where she made me feel guilty about it too. I'm afraid to call her for fear that I after ending the call with her, I'll get into a guilty conscience and question my own being.
- One day, I was giving an interview and waiting in line for my turn. This was at a public place so it wasn't monitored. Two ISKCON monks forced me to buy a copy of Ramayana despite me telling them that I already have a copy of the one by C.Rajagopalachari and I very much loved reading it. One of them dismissed me and pretended not to hear what I said and put a copy of their Ramayana in my hands and I finally had to give in and buy it (although I did not need it). All of this despite me politely reminding them that I was there for an interview and my name might be called anytime. There are many adherents of Hinduism that are of Non-Indian background thanks to outreach work done by ISKCON in the past half century. Buddhism has in the past half-century brought in many White and other adherents despite the fact that Buddhism came to the United States over a century ago by immigrants from East Asia.
