A list of puns related to "Inner West"
Hi Sydney
Just like the title asks - I am looking for recs for a shoe repair joint, somewhere that will resole, and has different kinds of resoling options for well-worn shoes and boots that still have life in them - in the inner west of city.
Yes it is a clichΓ© - it seems like every second lifestyle article is about the return to mending / scaling down, and making the most of what we already own for the good of the planet - but hey - it's a clichΓ© that I am happy to be a part of!
TIA for any and all recs!
The Sydney Local Health District has advised that 44 people have tested positive to COVID-19 after attending a trivia night at Petersham in the cityβs inner west.
It is not yet clear if attendees have the highly transmissible Omicron variant of the virus or the Delta strain.
People who were at the Oxford Tavern at 1 Canterbury Road between 4pn and 10.30pm on Tuesday, November 30, are considered close contacts and must get tested immediately for the virus and self-isolate.
Recently started skateboarding, not going to skate parks as I just need flat ground preferably with some downhill.
Thinking rooftop car parks around the Ashbury area going towards Bankstown.
Anyone know of any good places that are relatively empty (car parks, beginner skate parks, industrial areas)?
Thanks in advance
There was a single uncoupled Citadis tram (the kind that runs the L2/L3 in pairs) which appeared to be doing tests of some kind on L1 in the city last night, accompanied by many uniformed workers. Ran into it completely by chance while walking towards home. It ran from Paddyβs Markets, through to Capitol Square, up the ramp to Central Station, then back down towards The Star Casino, definitely operating on the L1βs route. Curiosity abound, I followed towards Central and back. At the stops, doors were opened and staff were intensively measuring the gaps between the platform. Tram spent a fair bit of time at each stop, with the measurements between platform and tram floor and whatever else being inspected. It looked pretty intensive. Between the stops, the tram would move a bit slower than how the regular trams would run here. It promisingly picked up a little bit of speed when I saw it depart Paddyβs Market towards The Star.
Gallery of pictures for the interested:
Paddyβs Markets, doors open (note the slight gap between tram and platform)
Awaiting signal into Capitol Square
About to head up the ramp into Central
It went around the curves near Central pretty slowly
L1 and L3 cross over each other
Very promising and happy to see they at least seem to be willing to reconsider and test this - lets hope we see some p
... keep reading on reddit β‘Looking for recommendations of stuff to go gasp at like a tourist around Seddon/Yarraville/Foot-is-cray area, pref outdoors in these Interesting Times.
Like, uh, I was walking past a Uni in Footscray and there was this amazing multi story mural painted on one of the walls. That was pretty cool.
Looking for excuses to get on the push bike and ride but need actual destinations.
Iβm assuming itβs the Maribyrnong fire and itβs gotten to the buildings. It stinks bad in my house.
Iβm pretty sure itβs coming from outside. Can anyone else confirm this?
I already called the Rona hotline to ask if I can bring it forward and test today but they said no and it has to be day 6 or after.
Thanks again everyone for your hearty gestures of friendship to my previous post - you are all so sweet.
So, I am a bit of a morning person and am getting sick of marinating in my own thoughts as I take the old doggo out for her walkies. I can offer a squishy and geriatric dog and some decent conversation, plus the occasional stress baked food and cringey joke.
Based in the inner west if that helps. I'm pretty talkative and my friends have joked that I adopt/collect people so you are more than welcome to join my retrograde wolf pack.
Comment below if interested.
So thanks to COVID, lockdown etc...
I took up harmonica and picked up violin again after like 4/5 years...
Wonder whether there might be any friends or groups around that we might enjoy music together, either practicing, playing or whatever...
The best pieces I could play are like Vivaldi's A minor Concerto or Canon and some other songs maybe... if they could still come back to my mind after ages' time lol...
I am around Annandale or inner west and would always open for a cuppa after our performances lol.
Thanks.
I know a lot of good bars but they're all in like St. Kilda or CBD. Does anyone have some good recommendations for local bars in the inner west? Suburbs like Footscray, Ascot Vale, Maribyrnong, Brunswick kinda area. Cheers!
Iβll be around Ascot Vale later tonight; any fun planned west of the city?
The planes have started back up again (woohoo). Appreciate it has been a bit of time since they were last around but I don't remember them being as frequent or low as they are right now.
Has something changed? Or have I simply forgotten what it was like to live with planes flying over?
Hi there,
I am currently struggling with an eating disorder and am finally ready to discuss this with a doctor. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for a GP that has a particular focus in this area or the mental health space.
My first preference is for a bulk-billing GP. Though I am also open to considering privately billed GPs.
Thanks
EDIT: Appreciate people's comments! Just adding some additional info - I have a regular GP and understand that all GPs have undergone training to provide mental health support. I also understand that if I were to be diagnosed with an ED, treatment would be with a psychologist rather than them. However, I'd feel more comfortable having this first discussion on my situation with someone who has pursued mental health as a specialty.
Have been at Springvale for years, but their extremely limited hours, sessions, and high member count make it very difficult to get a spot, even after driving for over an hour in peak traffic. Any suggestion are appreciated.
