Gleanings From the Writings of BahΓ‘βuβllΓ‘h - pg. XCII, Paragraph 1
The Book of God is wide open, and His Word is summoning mankind unto Him. No more than a mere handful, however, hath been found willing to cleave to His Cause, or to become the instruments for its promotion. These few have been endued with the Divine Elixir that can, alone, transmute into purest gold the dross of the world, and have been empowered to administer the infallible remedy for all the ills that afflict the children of men. No man can obtain everlasting life, unless he embraceth the truth of this inestimable, this wondrous, and sublime Revelation.
- BahΓ‘'u'llΓ‘h
Remember your trashbags in a crevice? Butters in a bowl? Or how grandmare used to slosh out to the yard? Time was another place. A place where medical waste was golden, and all the goth canaries swam laps (or swamp lamps, at my highskull). You wish for regeneracy, I'll wish for a callout of shadows.
I recently finished a second listen to BSC and realized that I had missed how close Sulfur was to ruining Monza's revenge on so many occasions. Clearly he wouldn't have a clue that Mauthis may have been threatened by her plans in Westport. In Siparni, however, I would think that he would be extra alert with both Ario and Jezel under the same roof. Presumably it would not be difficult for someone of his talents to unravel the entire plot in Cardoti's. Yet he leaves moments before the action begins. That is such a tantalizing tidbit. By the time Shiver's sees him with Carpi, he had to have some inkling of Monza's path. It doesn't seem like he had much else in the way of another valid reason to have visited him. Sulfur was noticeably missing in Ospria, and I wonder if this was supposed have something to do with the fact that it was not Monza's hand that performed the deed in this case. The final encounter between Monza and Yoru was also a near miss. An interesting dance between Monza and Sulfur through out the book. I loved it.
