A list of puns related to "Ind Culver Line"
THIS BLOGPOST (LINK DOWN BELOW) CONSIST OF A SUBWAY AND A BUS POST. THIS IS THE SUBWAY POST OF THIS BLOG. PLEASE ENJOY.
BROOKLYN, NY- If you are a rider on the IND Culver (F) Line between Kensington-Church Avenue and Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue during the weekends, then get ready, because your ride is about get interrupted.
Starting March 20th to December 2020 (and even 2021), there will be no (F) train service between Church Avenue and Coney Island. The last stop on all weekend southbound (F) trains will be Church Avenue. Crew members on March 20 will begin installing a communications-based train control (CBTC) system on the F subway line between Church Avenue and Coney Island stations in Brooklyn.
The $253 million project is part of the agencyβs Culver Line signal modernization project to replace the 70-year-old block signaling system on the line. CBTC enables continuous updates on train positions and speeds, which will allow for faster and more efficient operations compared with the old system, NYCT officials said in a press release. Work also will include construction of three signal facilities at Ditmas Avenue, Bay Parkway and Avenue X stations.
Crews will build a new relay room to house the new signaling equipment, reconfigure and replace two old interlockings at Avenue X and Ditmas Avenue stations, and add two interlockings south of Church Avenue Station. Work on the F Line will continue into 2021. The Culver Line, along with 8th Avenue, Lexington Avenue, Crosstown, and Queens Boulevard will be CBTC (Communications-Based Train Control) in the first 5 years, as per the NYCT System Modernization Plan.

Heads up if you wanted a Curderburger, you may already be too late. I can't speak for other locations, but I drove by the Mineral Point location at 10:05 and the line of cars was filling the right turn lane almost all the way back to Gammon.

>Signal upgrades, critical track repairs and maintenance on the F and G lines
>
>As part of our continuing work on the Culver Line Signal Modernization Project, there will be multiple service changes in effect on the π
andΒ π
Β lines in Brooklyn from mid-August through mid-October. We are also maximizing this time to make critical track repairs, track and switch replacements, and performing preventative maintenance during this time.
>
>What we're doing:
>
>* Upgrading signaling and interlocking systems
>* Replacing the switch that connects two local tracks south of the Bergen St station
>* Structural work for the installation of a new track crossoverΒ at the Church Av station.Β This switch will giveΒ us the ability to reroute service when there are unplanned disruptions or planned service changes for construction/maintenance
>* Fastrack maintenance, cleaning, repair, and replacement work: removing debris from tracks and around the third rail, clearing drains, repairing leaks, electronic maintenance of cameras, and high-intensity station cleaning
Huhβ¦ I wonder if this is when they finally install the switches in the tunnels that will let trains skip less stations during local-to-express reroutes. Southbound trains currently have to skip 4 Avenueβ9 Street, 15 StreetβProspect Park, Fort Hamilton Parkway, Ditmas Avenue, Avenue I, Bay Parkway, Avenue N, and Avenue P in order to skip just Ditmas Avenue. In the northbound direction, trains skip those station and also have to skip Avenue U.

This one missing connection would open up so many transfer opportunities! And I don't mean building a tunnel to connect the existing stations, though that would be the only realistic scenario given where the station are.
IRT/BMT stations are all integrated and right next to Atlantic Terminal / Barclays Center. But for some reason the IND built their stations several blocks away, and though it is not a super far walk, it would not be a fun transfer to do super frequently. And it is really only makes sense if you have an unlimited card.
On top of this, the Lafayette St station (Fulton St Line) only serves local trains. This makes sense as the station stands right now, but as I believe the station should have been closer to Atlantic Terminal, it also should have been an express station.
If these lines were built to better integrate with all the lines at Atlantic Terminal, it would make getting between Brooklyn and Queens so much easier and quicker!

In this episode of the HubTalk Chronicles, we will be talking about the Crosstown (G) Line. For all the (G) line customers, you guys are in luck. The SMEEs 4-car consists of R46 and R68/As will be swapped with 5-car consists of R160s. The (G) will be going back home from the Coney Island Yard to the Jamaica Yard, the first time since 2010 when the (G) was severed from Queens Blvd in the 2010 cuts. Good news for riders. Bad news for the N, (Q), and (W) line straphangers as they will see more of these R46s and R68/As until the new R211s arrive later on in the decade. This is done due to CBTC installations on Culver (which is going on now) and on Crosstown (which will start later on) as part of former NYCT-President Andy Byfordβs plan to modernize the entire subway system in less than 40 years. Listen and enjoy.
