[USA-MA] [H] Upgraded Razer Blade 15 Advanced Gaming Laptop (i7, 2080, 240Hz IPS, 2TB SSD & 32GB RAM), LG 34GP83A-B Ultrawide Gaming Monitor (34” WQHD 160Hz), HyperX Impact 32GB 3200MHz DDR4 Laptop RAM Kit [W] Local Cash/PayPal
  1. The Razer Blade is a mid-2019 model (RZ09-03018E02) with a 15.6” 1080p 240Hz IPS panel, Intel 9th gen 2.60Ghz i7-9750H, Nvidia RTX 2080 Max-Q 8GB VRAM. I’ve upgraded the storage and RAM from 512GB and 16GB respectively using a HP EX950 2TB NVMe SSD and HyperX Impact 32GB CL15 2666Mhz DDR4 RAM kit. Comes with the adapter. Unfortunately the original packaging is long gone. The laptop is in good condition with minimal signs of wear like the minor scuffs around and near the ports as shown in the pictures but no glaring cosmetic damage. Full disclosure, there is a known issue affecting even some current-gen models where the display turns off sometimes under certain conditions while the laptop is still on. Hitting the power button to put it to sleep and powering it back on has always solved it, and it has happened so rarely that I never bothered looking for a solution beyond the latter in addition to updating the BIOS. I’m looking to sell as I already have a PC and haven’t been gaming on the go as much as I’d like for the last year, so I was looking to go back to a MacBook.

  2. The monitor is a LG β€œUltragear 1ms Nano IPS” 21:9 34 inch (3440x1440) Curved Gaming Monitor (34GP83A-B). The base refresh rate is 144Hz and can be overclocked to 160Hz through a setting in the OSD. The monitor is in great condition with no apparent signs of wear and tear, nor any hardware defects. Comes with the adapter and included DisplayPort cable in original box. Selling because this is a secondary monitor and I need to declutter my living space.

  3. The HyperX Impact (32GB (16x2) CL20 3200Mhz DDR4 SODIMM) RAM kit is from when I upgraded the Razer Blade’s RAM. The laptop didn’t play nice with 3200Mhz so I bought the 2666Mhz kit and kept this one to give away to family but that didn’t happen so the kit has pretty much never been used and I’m finally getting around to selling it. I know the box in the pictures says 2666Mhz CL15, this is because that’s the packaging for the kit in the Blade right now and it was the only box I could find. The picture of the actual module shows the accurate model number for a 3200hz kit. (HX432S20IBK2/32)

Asking for: Razer Blade - $1150 + shipping

LG Monitor - $550 $500 + shipping

HyperX RAM kit - $150 $100 + shipping

Prefer local but happy to consider shipping depending on demand.

Swapping the monitor - higher resolution and performance impact

Hey there! I hope I am in the correct sub for this question, which probably can't be answered very precisely.

Currently, I game with the following hardware:

  • CPU AMD 3800x
  • Nvidia MSI 2080s
  • 32 gig memory
  • on a 32 inch monitor with 16:9 1440p

I have the chance to get a cheap 38 inch, 21:9 3840x1600 monitor. That's like 66% more pixels. Quite a lot.

Is there any way to tell how big the performance impact could be due to the higher resolution? Not precisely, just like a point of reference.

Currently, every game I play is running fine, mostly maxed out with some minor exceptions. It's not an issue for me to tune down details a bit, but if the performance hit could be unbearable, I'd rather skip the chance to get this monitor. Any ideas?

Plugged in, fully charged SP7 + Portable Monitor connected via USB-C; impact on battery longevity?

If my SP7 is fully charged with the 65w Surface power supply plugged in and I connect a portable monitor with no power supply of its own via USB-C, does it draw power from the Surface Battery? If so, what impact does this have on the longevity of the SP7's battery?

The particular monitor I use has a second USB-C port to power it but the USB-A port on the 65w Surface power supply only supplies 5W when 12w is needed. This is my traveling-for-work setup and I like to keep the sometimes little desk space I have as clutter free as possible.

Thank you in advance!

This might seem like a dumb question to some of ya'll computer boffins but...will having a second monitor severely impact gaming performance? (read further below)

I have a laptop i use for gaming, its and Asus TUF A15 with a Ryzen 7 3750H and an RTX 2060 with a 1080p 120hz monitor. I want to get a decent second monitor just for stuff like Discord or watching a show whilst grinding in a game.

The laptop CPU this thing has is not the best, its slow, it bottlenecks the GPU and it overheats pretty often, so I want to know if having a second monitor will impact CPU performance?

The GPU is always fine in terms of temperatures as it almost never hits 100% usage, its only the CPU at fault so if it impacts the GPU its fine, any help is appreciated.

Impact of age and vision performance on monitor resolutions

As one ages towards 50, the eyes inevitably lose their ability to focus up close. I have a 34 inch ultrawide at 1080p, I don't really see the pixellation unless I have my reading glasses on and I am up close.

Are resolutions of 1440p and 4K still justifiable for aging eyes? Talking to the seniors of this sub, can you see a difference in the image that justifies needing more PC power?

My only test was using my laptop connected to my 4K tv, and I really didn't notice that much of a difference when running something like Forza Horizon at native 4K vs selecting 1080p for the resolution. Distances for a TV are different than a monitor of course.

Does using a monitor as a display with the M1 MBP impact performance?

Would like the laptop to take to school, and then be able to still use it as my gaming computer at home with a display. Would prefer not having to get a rig, and just buy a laptop, mouse, and monitor then use the MBP M1 as the 'rig'. Thoughts?

How do you track sleep ? I was recently diagnosed with CFS/ME and would really love to be able to monitor my sleep to see how it impacts my waking fatigue.

I've got a Garmin watch but the sleep accuracy is questionable, doesn't recognise that I got up to go to the toilet or tells me that I fell asleep when I know I was awake.

There are lots of different suggestions for trackers, but I'd be reluctant to invest in them without reliable reviews.

I'm happy with my watch (Forerunner 245), I like the fitness options and free training plans. I'm not planning to upgrade for at least a year, but would consider alternatives then.

Apps- all appear to only use sound to establish sleep stage, I can't imagine that they have any use as a serious method of tracking.

I'm interested in the Withings Sleep Analyser & Beddit Sleep Monitor, as well as the Oura ring.

Can anyone give me some input on their accuracy or suggestions for alternative tracking methods that can be used at home ?

Ultra-wide screen 1440p VS 4k Monitor, which one would provide a more suitable and better gaming experience for Genshin Impact?

As above. Understand that Genshin Impact is currently capped at 60 fps max. Thus there should be no major issue for any RTX30 series to maintain that 60 fps in either of the above monitors.

However would like to heard from people who have already currently using ultrawide 1440p or a 4k monitor. Coming from an existing 1080p user, how does the above monitor choice improved your overall gaming experience in Genshin Impact?

Some general enquiries:

  1. Ultra wide 1440p will have field of vision issue for Genshin Impact?

  2. 4k offers better graphic image upgrades, or no it is not that massively noticeable when compare to 1440p? (assuming 32-34 inch)

Appreciate any pros and cons (especially cons) feedback on the above subject matter. Thank you.
