A list of puns related to "Iaaf"
Awesome news as the IAAF has ratified four records, including that of Ugandaβs Joshua Cheptegei, that were set before the COVID-19 pandemic brought activity to a halt.
He had taken 27 seconds off the previous 5k Road World Record set by Kenyan Rhonex Kipruto (13:18), who had actually taken his 10k Road World Record. Cheptegei lowered that 5k Road World Record with a time of 12:51 and really showed that he could answer back with the sub-13 minutes barrier. He averaged a 4:08 mile pace.
He is now the first Ugandan to hold three world records. In 2018, he set a world record for the 15km road race and became the World Cross Country champion in 2019. His 10k Road World Record is set with a time of 26:38, which was later taken by Rhonex Kipruto in 26:24.
In 2017 Cheptegei was the silver medalist in the 10,000m at the World Championship in London. He also ran at the 2016 Olympic Games in the 5000m and 10,000m, finishing eighth and sixth respectively. He also set the Ugandan national records on the road in both the 5k (13:24) and 10k (27:46).

Caster Semenya has lost her appeal against the IAAF's ruling against testosterone levels - TL;DR this states that testosterone levels have to be below a certain level for 6 months before competition and would mean that she (and others with Differences of Sex Development (sometimes known as Intersex)) would have to take medication to lower them. This ruling only applies to races between 400m and 1 mile (1609m - so applies to the 400m, 800m and 1500m).
Have others seen this? What do you think about it?
To me this seems vastly unfair and targeted to Semenya as it only applies to the races in which she competes but interested to see what others think about it?
On this day in 1967, Anne Rosemary Smith ran the mile in a time of 4:37.0 setting a new World Record. In 1967, she broke two world records in one race, running 4:17.3 for the 1500 metres and 4:37.0 for the mile.
These were the first 1500 m and mile world records to be ratified by the IAAF. To June 21, 2009 to now, the IAAF has ratified 13 world records in the event.
At the Tokyo Games she competed in the 800m, women were not permitted to run any distance longer than 800m at the time. Given, they were allowed to race the mile or 1500m; she would have likely taken home the gold.
In the 800m, she set a British record of 2:04.8 in the semi-final. In the final, she finished eighth in 2:05.1
