Welcome to 2022, and the first Dub Check-In of the year! There's some special extras in this edition in the General section, (Anime of the Year? etc) - as there's actually an edition this week! So come on in, sit down and enjoy a taste of what this year has in store. And ofc, expect this next week to be busier than the last two, as staff across companies and licensors return to work shortly. Another wave of seasonal announcements (+dubs) is imminent...!

- An accomplished anime producer, who has been involved on projects from SAO to Fairy Tail to tbe Bebop movie, has discussed the difficulties in unionizing the anime industry. Learn more.
- ANN has joined in on mourning Betty White - she was in the English Dub of Studio Ghibli and GKIDS' "Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea" - an overall in memoriam for all involved in anime (animators, VAs and beyond) who passed in 2021, is available here.
- Various sites have compiled lists of "Best of 2021", amidst other interesting year-end articles. I've curated a list that you might be interested in, as a sort of New Year's acknowledgement (Note: some titles referenced within are not currently dubbed/dub is ongoing, and may contain spoilers for the ending - read with care)
- Anime News Network has their teams' Best of 2021 series; The Worst of the Year (+Fan vote results); the most read news of 2021; and for looking ahead, the most anticipated anime for Winter '22.

I'm considering subscribing to that streaming service for one month because an AMV peaked my interest in "You're Under Arrest"
Because I'm trying to be open-minded I'll accept recommendations of all sorts, please include genre and or very short description next to the titles
The reviews on the App Store are pretty bad but I just wanna make sure it’s good enough for me to use it.
It's supposedly running until 11:59 PM Pacific Time, and the promo from HIDIVE's Twitter still links to a page saying it's active, but 1) the HIDIVE Twitter has since posted another tweet with just the regular signup link instead of the promo one, 2) HIDIVE has removed the promo banner from the front page of their website, and 3) a couple people have replied to the Twitter promo I linked to say the promo isn't working for them. (But even when it was definitely working, people were saying it works in a weird way where they charge you full price, refund you, and then charge you half price, so it's possible that those replies may have just misunderstood what happened.) There's also fine print even on the page on the HIDIVE site that does say it's active which says that promo codes won't work on yearly subscriptions, but I'm pretty sure that's been there all along and them not removing it for this particular deal was just an oversight since it contradicts the bigger text at the top of the page.
Has anyone done it in the last few hours such that they could confirm that it has worked more recently than when those Twitter replies were posted?
