A list of puns related to "Helots"
Hey guys, can you please answer this silly question I have? How many Chaos Familiars can Helot Chaos Cult have? Their entry name in the Book of Ruin says 0-2 Chaos Familiar. Is that 0-2 per gang (this is what I assume) or 0-2 per fighter (after reading other posts and comments this one seems valid).
Various discussions I found suggest it is 0-2 per fighter (but only leader/champions) but I failed to find a definite answer. So, how many can I have?
I am planning on running a Cultists gang when the 'Rona restrictions drop in our area, but in the meantime I am want to work on what to build/paint.
I have a LARGE block of the cultists from the Dark Vengeance box and would like to use these models. I am fine with minor conversions too, but don't want to go nuts if I can help it :-)
As a note, I also have cadian sprues available for hacking weapons off if necessary.
I have already built 3 heavy stubbers and 3 flamers, both of the cultist crew leaders (With duplicates of them still on sprue).
I am no opposed to a witch, but from what I have read, they are better at being an earner, so the idea is to take advantage of that too.
So, my question to all you lovely necro-folk: How would you go about with your crew given these resources?
I figure a demagogue w/ shotgun and sword
Disciple w/ Heavy Stubber (nerves of steel or overwatch)
Disciple 2?
Witch (fixer +???)
cultist w/ flamer
cultist autogun...?
......
Do I mesh up the fancier lads/lasses?
Thanks!!!
As the title says I want to take some of the unmade and make them into cultists using auto pistols and melee weapons might give a couple some autoguns.
I love the madness of the unmade warband as such I want to make use of them in a helot cult warband but I think just throwing some guns on them looks lazy will do that if there arenβt many suggestions.
I plan on keeping the metal limbs as my cultists is based around those who suffered due to the houses of necromunda harming them or killing there family.
I think I will call them the unbroken (wip).
Any suggestions would be appreciated thank you in advance
Shouldnβt Spartans/Homoioi and Helots be a different culture. Spartan civilization is almost entirely based on the subjugation of the Helots, and since they are not a different culture ingame you canβt enslave them all. Instead Helots can become nobles? There is also the perioikoi but thatβs another thing entirely.
Ideally imo there would be a Homoioi/spartan culture that could be citizens and nobles only or maybe even just nobles, donβt know if that works game mechanics wise. Then you would have lacadeamonians who are citizens and down, and then Helots who are slaves. What do you guys think?
Hey guys, I'm preparing for a Necromunda campaign. I'm going to take the witch since having three champions seems to be a solid boost, even tho his stats seem lacking. I'm going to play him either with hand flamer or something trash and he is gonna be taught either the Dark Shield wyrd power (which seems to be the best of all his possible wyrd powers considering rules as written), or with one of the savant skills. Is using Dark Shield a free action?
Can you help me decide what is the best savant skill I can give to the witch?
I was thinking about Savvy Trader skill to make it easier and chaper to get the sweet xeno or corrupted weapons from the black market; however, as I never played a Necromunda campaign yet I have no idea how scarce the money is, perhaps I should go for the Fixer skill? I mean Helot Cult cannot sell captives so that source of income is invalidated, is that a serious drawback? Should I go for the Fixer skill because of it? How about different savant skills?
Iβd like to share one of my favorite historical fiction comics with everyone here.
Three is created by Kieron Gillen and Ryan Kelly. It is set in Ancient Sparta. Specially, after Sparta is past itβs prime and suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of Thebes. Three follows, well, three helots. Helot is a fancy way saying, essentially, slave. Theyβve accidentally killed their master and now theyβre on the run. A band of 300 Spartan warriors have been assembled to hunt them down. Three is often referred to as the anti-300, because it takes a more historically accurate view of Sparta. It has fantastically impeccable research. In fact, thereβs an interview with a professor of Spartan history after the story has ended, and the creators discuss the reaserch they did.
So great story, great artwork, great research, an all around great comic book. If you havenβt already, check it out now, youβll be glad you did.
Have any of you read Three? If so, what did you think?

I am interested in how the agricultural system would function in classical Sparta. The Spartiate population use my produce to enable their lifestyle, what produce am I left with to support my family?
Would it be possible to have a decent family life (in terms of reliable amounts of food and security)?
Along these lines, how would my agricultural techniques have differed from farmers in other regions at the time?
