A list of puns related to "Hardbound"
Foust! Hemingway I look, I can't find used, hard-bound books for the Dickens!!!
I know, I know, Poe puns.
Where can I find used books?
TIA
This was supposed to be a different kind of journal but it was smaller than I expected π€£ But I love it and I want to use it. Any ideas for an A6? Thanks.
Is it common place for the written adventures to be bound in hardcover after they have been published? I am a big fan of collecting but certainly prefer them all bound akin to a night at the opera. Wasn't sure if this is information that we'd know.
I grew up reading this as a very very young kid in the 90's, although i'm reluctant to put it as published in the 90s as I don't know when my parents got it and the book already looked pretty banged up as far as i can remember (whether dud to second hand buying i'm not sure...)
It was a hardbound red book on fairytales. as of now i can only recall two stories: "King Hawks Beak", and the story of this girl who changed into different dresses to a ball each night to dance with a king (one dress as bright as the sun, one like the moon, but she normally wore a coat made of a thousand different furs. she would stain her face with a walnut to disguise herself)
i probably haven't read this since i was probably 6-8(?), although i do remember the illustration style was art nouveau and very very traditional in appearance. The binding of it felt woven and it was pretty large, with sewn binding between pages.
I've been searching for this thing for two months and i'm hoping to find a copy of it
ETA: illustrations were closer to mucha-esque art nouveau
I have an amazon link but they are out of stock. They are called Brodart 10x21 inches. Anyone knows where I could find them?
The product name in amazon contains this text "Ten (10) 10"H x 21"L Brodart Fold-On Archival Book Jacket"
Edit: Also I want something that is essentially bleed proof.
Thanks in advance.
So, Iβm pretty new. I played for 2 weeks in Legion, not at all in BFA, and started playing for real about a month ago. Iβve seen a lot of complaints about Covenants and that they strongarm classes and specs into picking an optimal one to be able to do Mythic+. I also, however, have heard people say that they picked the covenant with the coolest mount or the prettiest transmog, even if it wasnβt ideal for their spec, and they play high level content just fine, the difference maybe being 2-3% in overall output (HPS or DPS), a difference that gear and skill can cover. Who do I listen to? Iβm playing a Holy Priest because I love support classes. Most guides say Night Fae for Fae Guardians is mandatory, while others say theyβre all pretty good. I want to go Kyrian for cosmetics (character Iβm playing is based off my D&D Divine Soul sorcerer) but I feel like Iβm not going to get to be invited to run content if Iβm not optimized.
What are your thoughts?
You can also offer any Gekiga or Alternative Manga.
Hi, I'm looking for a series of what I remember being multiple, differently colored, hardbacked books, that I think we "old-fashioned" ie I'd estimate 50's-70's but idk for sure, as in the inner decor pages (inside the cover) iirc were like handpainted designs like I'd only seen in older/fancier books.
The only stories I can remember for certain that I am pretty sure were in the same book, but I don't remember for sure, were mutliple Br'er Rabbit Stories https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Br%27er_Rabbit
And another I remember where a little girl nurses found animals (baby mice and other insects/creatures) to health in a greenhouse (I think) and I believe this story is set during a war and there are parallels between her nursing the animals and like either her family nursing injured soldiers or her seeing them or something like that, I think.
Thanks so much for any help! I read these as a little kid in like 98-2000s so that is the max age they could be but they always seemed older to me, though I could be wrong.
I read this book in 1990 when I was in the 4th grade, and it was old then. I suspect it was probably published in the 1950s or 1960s. It was a book with a collection of short stories and some color illustrations for some of the stories.
Some of the stories were sci-fi and others were similar to fairy tales. It was a hardbound book with a blue cover and at the top was an illustration of William Tell with a crossbow taking aim at the apple resting on his son's head. His son was tied to the tree. William Tell in this illustration had a beard. The cover illustration also appeared to have characters and scenes from other stories within the book. I believe the title had the words: "bravery" and/or "courage" in it.
I can only remember three stories from the book but I believe there were several more. One story was a rendition of William Tell.
Another was a sci-fi story where astronauts from Earth go to Mars and find a preserved Martian inside a chamber. When they open the chamber, the Martian turns to dust due to the exposure of air. They find the Martian's account of the destruction of his world through a world war. The Martian's account is scratched into metal sheets instead of paper. The Martian was the last survivor and wrote out the whole story before killing himself. His body was preserved because he had the air pumped out of the chamber. The astronauts look at the Martian's story as a cautionary tale.
Another sci-story features an inventor who builds a time machine. He contacts his teacher to come over and see it. However, he decides to test it on himself before the teacher arrives because he doesn't want to be embarrassed if it doesn't work. He decides to travel only a few minutes in time. However, when he gets out of the time machine he is disoriented and has short-term memory loss. He then remembers to test the time machine, and basically the story ends with him stuck in an infinite loop.
AKA an art journal - but there aren't a lot of suggestions I found on r/ArtJournaling
The only options on like dickblick and other art stores have a couple options, but just like Strathmore etc. Thought maybe I would ask you guys.
Basically, something good for mixed media, specifically ones that could take acrylic paint without buckling too much. Assuming probably just something with a higher GSM. (someone suggested watercolor books, but not sure i need 300 gsm). And more than 64 pages. blank obviously.
this isn't for like longform journaling or decorating bujo. More traditional "fine art" painting practice.
I've had this complaint with Sova's drone for a while now, but Astra adds to these problems. Regardless of your crouch and jump bindings, both Sova and Astra obey only the default spacebar and ctrl bindings for raising and lowering their abilities (the drone for Sova and astral form for Astral).
While in my case its all boo hoo because I have awful keybinds for my stupid monkey brain, I could foresee someone physically incapable of using control and space stuck without the ability to raise and lower those characters.
It would be really great if these binds were linked with the jump and crouch binds, or even better if these were separate binds you could set individually.
