A list of puns related to "Growth Mindset"
Iβm am looking to embark on a journey of self growth and I was wondering if this book is worth buying and reading and what practical tips and strategies can I expect to gain from it. Or other book recommendations as well
QUICK EDIT: A lot of good advice, some are arguing in the comments about the credibility and morality of Jordan Peterson π, I appreciate that too. Iβm not going to purchase Jordan Petersonβs book, but Iβm am going to get Mindset by Carol Dweck and How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie. I canβt respond to all the comments but I definitely have read most and I appreciate the information!
I have a terrible problem which is that I tend to shy away from hard work. This is extremely hindering to my personal progress and self growth. Since Iβm starting to delve into reading, I was hoping I can get some recommendations on books dealing with overcoming these problems.
I struggle with this. I spend a lot of time thinking of how to improve my life- how to be a better person, how to build better habits, etc. And it has really worked, making me far happier and content than I thought possible.
But I realized that over the past couple years, Iβve spend so much time thinking of how things could be different, without appreciating enough how wonderful my current life is.
Personal growth is very important to me, but how do I balance this with feeling like I am βenoughβ and being content with what I already have?
Saw a post on here a few days ago about being good at theory vs practical. It got me thinking about why I'm terrible at sport...
I tend to have a growth mindset when it comes to learning and gaining knowledge but a fixed mindset (attribute good performance to talent) for physical activities (sports, arts, playing instruments etc).
Wish I had realised this sooner π !!
How GMAT Students With a Growth Mindset See Their Mistakes
Did you ever notice that some people preparing for the GMAT seem to handle all kinds of obstacles and setbacks calmly and effectively? Whether they have trouble understanding a concept, are performing poorly on a practice test, or experience another type of GMAT related issue, they donβt seem to get frustrated or anxious. Rather, they press on and eventually achieve their goals. So, what is it that enables GMAT students and other people to operate this way and succeed?
Stanford University professor Carol Dweck had a similar question. She observed that some students are devastated by issues they experience while learning, while others are more resilient, bounce back from setbacks, welcome challenges as opportunities, and in general enjoy the learning experience. So, she studied thousands of students to determine what some had going on that resulted in their having these tendencies that lead to success. In doing so she discovered that the key thing these students had in common was what she termed a βgrowth mindset.β
So, how do students with a growth mindset see their mistakes and other setbacks, and what is it about a growth mindset that enables students to succeed? In this article, Iβm going to explore the answers to these questions and discuss how anyone can develop a growth mindset and harness it to achieve GMAT success. Letβs begin by discussing what a growth mindset is.
Understanding What a Growth Mindset Is
A growth mindset is a way of viewing yourself that involves the idea that your intelligence and basic abilities can be developed through work and the utilization of good strategies and input from others. We can also understand a growth mindset by contrasting it with a fixed mindset, which involves the idea that abilities and other personal qualities are largely fixed and canβt be significantly changed. So, basically, a person with a fixed mindset has the impression that his or her successes or failures depend on fixed traits, whereas a person with a growth mindset believes that he or she is in control of his or her destiny.
As a result, people with fixed mindsets and people with growth mindsets handle challenges and setbacks very differently. For instance, since people with fixed mindsets believe that everyoneβs traits are fixed, one of their goals i
... keep reading on reddit β‘I get those bursts of energy/motivation, like I just start working out like insane at a random time during the day (Iβm naturally slim, no where near enough muscle) and I just want to be in this mindset/state almost constantly or at least on demand.
Iβm 21, ive been procrastinating a little ever since Iβve graduated, and on top of that, Iβm a virgin, and Iβm getting tired of missing out and not having my fun.
I live in the U.K., and although the culture here is a little more closed off, Iβm trying to not let that be a limiting factor, but itβs gonna be a little difficult - Iβm not great at ice breaking or meeting new people, Iβm fine once I get to know the person, but before that, itβs a little awkward or uneasy to say the least.
Any advice? Iβm considering supplementing with Maca as apparently it has crazy anxiety shattering effects
So I'm actually confused by these 2 concepts. I see many people say you should focus on your strengths so that you can be better than everyone else in that thing and save valuable time, but other people are saying you should develop a growth mindset.
E.g. I realize I am not a people person and not good with managing people. I'm good at coding, financial modeling, graphic design, and stuff that doesn't deal with people. I used to think that I could and should become better at people skills, but then I really struggled and came to adopt the thinking that I should just stick to the skills I'm good at, that some people are born with certain traits that suit some jobs better than others.
