I told my chain of command I needed help

And they told me in multiple different ways that, "everyone goes through this, I'm not the only one in the company experiencing problems, I signed a contract, at the end of the day I needed to be prepared to deploy, etc etc." I literally told my command team I needed a break, and felt cornered asking for help, I told them I didn't want to live anymore, to which my commander quickly tried to act like I didn't say that.

I'm a top performer at my unit, that apparently my CO can't do without. How would one not say fuck the military. If he has the balls to blow me off, I can't imagine what he would say to someone that didn't have the same standing.

Merry New Years mother fuckers I hope y'all never work for a punk ass like I do.

Edit: I am currently in different types of therapy, and on different types of medication through behavioral health. Honestly I’m not that confident in the treatment so far, so I’ve reached out to an off base organization that I’m about to start with.

My command team, is forcing me to go on a short deployment in the next few months, after I’ve voiced my concerns about my mental health. Specifically, that I’m suicidal, and have been for years, and I’m tired of feeling this way. They didn’t know I was in BH prior to this talk. Instead of giving me some time to deal with my health, not deploy again and get out of the army next year, I’m being told, β€œhey you’re good, we need you.”

Team Members Going Up Chain of Command

Hey,

In my situation we have a new product launch. The business manager other projects aren't doing well, so he comes in with scope creep wanting to push our engineering capabilities to the max. I tell him that any extra features he want to capture should be another project, but this launch should focus on the baseline with some of the added features. From my past experience being an engineer at a different company I know it's too much to tackle right now. Also once we get the baseline selling, the execs will probably be fine with us extending the product line.

I try to lean on the technical team to back what I'm saying, and the engineer is wishy washy, saying well it'll be a lot of work but if sales want it then we should do it now. He says it'll take some slight modification to the equipment. I even ask him doesn't he think it'll take months of added work, he keeps giving non concrete answers.

In conclusion the business mgr says he understands everything I'm saying, but he doesn't want to make it another project so he wants to table the discussion. I go to my manager and he says to include all the features since we only proving feasibility right now, and would do it later.

WELL later that week the director of engineering says to schedule a meeting with the business mgr, because technical can't handle all this work right now. He literally makes the same argument I was saying, and said the engineer from my meeting wasn't comfortable doing this work right now. WHY DIDN'T HE JUST SAY THAT IN THE MEETING, HE'S LIKE 55.

Then when I tell my mgr the director said to set up the meeting. My mgr is concerned because the business mgr told him he doesn't like me pushing him in meetings, and now he will see I was right. WHO CARES AND HE'S LIKE 45. I'm trying to get the project to launch successfully.

Should I say anything about this to the team members or let it go. I'm new to this company and this is one of my first projects here. I just find it weird that I'm 26, but these older ppl are tip toeing, when I'm asking for free conversation because at the end of the day, we all look good if the project gets done well.

Chain of command question

So, there has always been debates about what le will release, has released and needs to release. So, I am asking all of the people with knowledge (le or relatives of le), who makes the decision on what to release? Is it the lead investigator? Is it decided as a group? I have no clue and would love to know how it is decided. Thanks!

A strategy game where you don’t directly control your army/units in a godlike way but instead use a chain of command

I’ve been looking for a game like this for a while now. A strategy game where the skills and personality of my subordinates impacts the game and how well my plans are carried out. Basically you tell someone in charge of a group β€œtake that hill/city/planet” and it’s up to them to get the details down and see the task out while you focus on the big picture.

For example in the Scourge of War games you could tell a division to take a hill on a flank. The orders would then pass down from you to the division commander of the division you want to take the hill, who would then give orders to the brigade commanders, who would pass them along to their regiments and they would attempt to follow your orders with each commander adjusting as the battlefield developed. It created a great sense of immersion for me because you didn’t have these godlike powers over your men, you just gave orders and had to rely on either nothing going wrong or your subordinates being talented or equipped enough to handle the unforeseen events. It also made plans fluid as you reacted to what was going on around you without 100% certainty that what you are wanting to happen is actually going to be carried out.

I feel like I’ve played all of the games that offer something close to this. Scourge of War, Distant Worlds: Universe, Ultimate General, HoI series. I even play Football Manager every year because of the hands off aspect.

The Scourge of War/Take Command games are probably the closest to what I’m after. I also remember reading something about a WW2 strategy game that had a command structure like what I’m wanting, but I don’t remember the name and can’t find anything on Steam.

Thank you for any help and I apologize for the wall of text, just wanted to describe what I was after.

I have a character question about Gul Madred in TNG's 'Chain of Command'. Looking for some discussion.

So I recently watched Chain of Command and I won't gush too much but suffice to say the episode earns its status and reputation. Strangely despite initially disliking Gul Madred I actually ended up liking him in some sense. I know that sounds weird, but I wasn't expecting him to get the character development that he did, which coupled with the fine acting of David Warner gave a full picture of his character that I appreciated rather than some one dimensional monster. I also like how he actually seems to have a good deal of respect for Picard despite being his torturer and I think some of the best moments in the episode are when he accidentally let's his guard down around Picard. There's almost a strange Stockholm Syndrome dynamic in a way.

However my question lies at the end of the episode in the infamous 'four lights' scene. After being told he is to be released just after one last torturous move by Madred Picard defiantly shouts that there are four lights, despite believing there are five. As Picard is dragged away we see his torturer give a little smile. Initially I assumed he was smiling out of an admiration for Picard, knowing that the respect he had come to have for him was earned, but when the episode ended I reflected on the smile again wondering if Madred knew that he had cracked Picard and was pleased with himself, if he understood that in the end his captive truly believed there were five lights. I'm wondering if anyone else has given this much thought and if so what conclusions you've come to? I would love to hear some discussion about this and anything else about the two part episode really. I'm not sure what the general consensus is but I feel like they also gave a good deal of character development to Captain Jellico and I'm glad he wasn't just a straight up asshole if you'll excuse the term. Despite not liking him overall (not disliking either) I actually felt like Riker was being unreasonable at times and maybe a little arrogant, while also seeing both men's side. Very good episode.

How should I get blood work done without my chain of command knowing?

Hello, so I'm pretty sure i need to get blood work done. Im pretty positive that something is wrong with my heart, my resting heart rate is in the high 90s and sometimes I can feel my heart palpitating. I'm scared there might be something wrong. I quit smoking cigarettes, I stopped drinking caffeine and I dont do any drugs and barely drink so I dont know why it's happening. But I'm scared that if i go to the base hospital and request a blood test and something is wrong with me, they'll tell my chain of command and I'll get med sepped or ad sepped. So I want to go to a civilian hospital but i dont have any insurance other than tri care. And I'm scared to put it on tri care for the same reason. I want to re up and continue my career but I feel like I'm going to get kicked out if something is wrong. Has anyone been through anything similar or know someone who's been through something like this? What should I do? I havent asked any of my NCOs for obvious reasons and my peers dont know either, I am very physically fit so that's why I'm freaking out my resting heart rate used to be in the 40s and all of a sudden it's been constantly in the 80s and high 90s.

Space Marines in terms of Imperial chain of command?

Hey 40K fans.

I've been looking around online for an actual answer but there seems to be as many answers as people answering so I thought I'd ask here.

How exactly do the Space Marine chapters in general fit into the Imperial chain of command? I've seen people say they fall under the Administratum, and I've seen people say they fall outside of the normal chain of command and are essentially able to do as they please, and then I've seen a mixture of both.

In the novel Courage and Honor Uriel tells an Adept from the Administratum that his Ultramarines aren't under Administratum control, but I'm not sure if that just means not under that Adepts control or if it means Space Marines don't fall under the control of the Administratum at all. If they don't, who do they actually answer to?

Chain of Command is failing my Soldiers

I'm an E4 team leader, and have a few soldiers under me. I have all the responsibilities of an NCO, yet none of the privileges or authority. My squad leader is an E5, yet is just awful at his job. Any issues my soldiers have which need an NCO to resolve get ignored, information stops at him in both directions, and he generally does not lead. My PSG is very big on the chain of command though, and I can't directly interact with him most of the time, but my shit squad leader isn't helping. My soldiers are suffering because of this. How can I resolve this issue? I've tried speaking to the PL, but he's too inexperienced to be any help.

How high on the chain of command are Inquisitors?

Hello there fellow kids,

I may or may not be writing a fanfiction (I know, I know, I'm a filthy heretic and will burn in the flames of Holy Promethium) and have some question in regards to how much power can an Inquisitor excise on strategic decisions.

Like, if the Imperial Guard/PDF/Astartes developed a strategy for the incoming xenos/Chaos/whatever threat and the Inquisitor doesn't agree with it for whatever reason can he just go: "Do as I say, or you ALL will be declared a heretic?"

And if this works, how high does this power go? Can he overrule a Comissar? Lord General? Captain of a SM company?

Thank you in advance for your insight.

Some Thoughts on 'Chain of Command'

Just watched CoC for the first time in a while (on my first full TNG rewatch), and I had a couple of thoughts I wanted to share:

  • First of all, I could watch David Warner and Patrick Stewart act opposite each other for like 100 episodes, honestly. Warner is such a fine actor, and I love that he makes multiple Trek appearances. This might be my favorite.
  • How does this group feel about Captain Jellico? He's an ass, obviously, and not a great leader (at least in comparison to Picard), but his plan does ultimately succeed - was he treated fairly by Riker and the others? Or do you think he goes too underappreciated? Had he been in command under different circumstances (i.e. more time to get to know the crew), do you think he could have been better?

Chains of Command

We really need people to work together and be followers of leaders. It really helps communication throughout the whole realm. The top most leader notices we need oil? they simply decree "Order, bring oil" and everyone know we need oil (or firewood or whatever) they dont have to be right next to him/her to know what is needed. Or King/Queen learns that there is a bear roaming in the north. They say "Order, bear north. be careful"

That said, there needs to be only one chain of command otherwise the whole city cant communicate as effectively. I'm seeing both of these as problems. Some people dont want to follow anyone or they just want their own high, simply find a baron(ess) and follow them if you want a title.

If you’ve got a chain of command, stick to it.

And if you’ve made it clear that we all are equals with equal input, then let me actually say my fuckin piece before you start saying how wrong it is. I’m gonna be up front and say that I’m very aware this is an overreaction. I’ll get over it. Just let me have a minute.

I don’t normally believe in talking shit about someone behind their back, but I made an exception today. I was in a shit mood and I couldn’t really get out of it. Not that it’s a valid excuse, but it’s not like I cared at the time.

We were discussing how to properly lay shit out on a trailer. Simple stuff. There were a bunch of spools with the shapes of Ls and Zs. Naturally, you want to put the biggest Ls at the corner and work your way in. It’s common sense. But nah, Whatshisface decides that we’re putting a Z across the centre. Why? Fucked if I know. Made things a helluva lot more awkward and we basically limited the trailer’s capacity by like 6 spools.

So that was a piss-off, but the rest of us agreed that our nondesignated designated leader was a bit irrational and we collectively decided it would be a lot less trouble to let him have his way on this one. We’re good workers. We’ll find a way to compensate. So we go into the chocking phase. Just little wooden triangles/trapezoids that you nail in to stop the pipe from moving around.

Of course, the guy had to step in to tell us how we were doing it wrong. Somehow. He started freaking out that if we didn’t put the slow inclined parts of the chocks on the 1-inch pipe, it would roll and that’s a no-no. To anyone who doesn’t get what I’m saying, the man was thinking completely irrationally. If we used those inclined parts, it’d be as effective as sticking a newspaper beside it. We put the chocks sideways so we could, y’know, actually stop the pipe from moving.

What gets me more is that he had no problem chewing out my friend for that, but the second I come in, he gets all objective. β€œYou know, I’m just saying. In the end, it’s up to what you guys want. I’m just saying that if I were to do it...” and so forth. And he proceeds to repeat himself four times. Fuckin hate that mask people put on. So what if I’m the boss’s kid? I ain’t fuckin royalty. If you can’t treat me like you’re treating them and vice versa, we’ve got an issue here. If we can’t be honest and professional towards each other, then it’s a problem we’ve gotta fix. Let’s ignore how hypocritical I’m being by writing this.

Looking back on it, most of the conflict could have be

Animate Weapon/Dancing Duo/Chains of Command Impale Champion

There's one of the new jewel notables that grants minions +20% chance to impale with attacks.

Using this, it should be possible for Champion to get minions that have 95-100% chance to impale.

This requires Dread Banner 20/20 supported by Generosity, Impale support on the minion, and both the Duelist and Templar Aura Wheels on the passive tree. 20/23 Dread Banner and/or 22+ Generosity would make the passive nodes less necessary.

Thanks to both Dread Banner granting Impale effect and the Champion's Master of Metal granting a flat phys aura, our damage will scale very well with aura effect.

Depending on how the Animate Weapon+Blade Skill base damage is calculated, phat impales should be possible.

So my idea is using either Animate Weapon+Dancing Duo or Animate Weapon+Chains of Command. Using both would be overkill/inefficient I think... Maybe with a Hungry Loop I could make all of them work together... I'm leaning towards using AW+Duo, for simplicity's sake.

Where I'm running into trouble is in the secondary links. The support gems for the summons are straightforward, but I'm not sure what else to run.

Obviously I need Cyclone+Fortify for mitigation. Should I run ir 4 link CwC Bladefall for Animate Weapon or try to make Cyclone an effective 5+ link utility skill? Hungry Loop?

Need Flesh and Stone (Maybe with Maim) and Pride, obviously. Aura effect we already have is going to make it that much better. Unfortunately these don't work with Generosity. However I think the increased aura radius from putting quality on generosity will apply to them maybe, which would be nice.

Defenses? I only have 200% inc life, Steelskin, Fortify, and fortify scaling planned as far as reliable defenses go. Not sure what would be most effective to invest in beyond that.

I barely know where I'm going with this but I'm fairly confident I can make this into a starter using generic phys/impale scaling attacks up until Animate Weapon can do enough damage on its own.
