Lately whenever I search using the Google toolbar (or maybe it's the Google search widget? idk) on my OnePlus 8 it's been opening the results in a new tab in chrome. I almost exclusively use the toolbar to look something up real quick and never think about it again, so I liked when it just opened up results in app. On the other hand, I use chrome constantly to read web serials. But because my search widget now opens in chrome, everytime I look something up, the next time I go to read my current story (which is literally the next second I have free time) instead of already being on that story like usual I have to manually exit out of the search tab each time and navigate back to the right tab. There's a option in the Google app settings "Open web pages in the app" but it's greyed out (though the title button looks to be on) and beneath it says "Open and set up Chrome to enable this option" but I use chrome all the time, it's set up and updated. I tried to uninstall and reinstall both but I can't for either, only enable and disable. I did reset Google toolbar to factory then update it to current but that didn't work. I'm all out of options and my Google-fu has failed me so I must ask. If any of you guys can help me, I'd greatly appreciate it.
Edit: I also felt like it might've started right after I enable developer options on this phone. I didny know if that might affect it so to be on the safe side, I turn dev options of and tried changing that setting but it still didn't work.
the top section of google chrome that displays the tabs is flipped and I cant find out how to fix it. if you don't understand what I mean, basically imagine the X button is on the left side when it should be on the right side, but with everything on the top bar of the screen. here's an example
as you can see, the tabs, x button and everything else is mirrored.

I usually open my pdfs in Chrome and there is usually the toolbar at the top of the screen with the filename, pages, download button, printing etc. It usually disappears when I go to full screen and only shows when I hover my mouse at the spot it is supposed to be. Now it does not do that anymore and is visible the whole time. How do I change that?
I use mac btw.

The Messages app from Google has a Toolbar effect where the toolbar has no elevation until the content is scrolled. Also, the Toolbar and status bar become semi transparent and the RecyclerView content scrolls under them.
How can one achieve that effect?

The toolbar gives instant access to things like unit converter, tip calculator, nearby restaurants, rolling a die, even the new Google fidget spinner etc.
The tools just below the search bar can be obtained following these steps:
- First you must be a Google App beta tester. (https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox) The current version is 7.4.21.21
I haven't confirmed if it's necessary, but you should also be a beta tester for Google play services according to u/SHaD0s- Go to your settings/all applications and find the Google app.
- Delete all search history for the app, no need to clear the cache.
- Go back to the Google now page, it will popup at the bottom asking if you want personalized recommendations etc. IMPORTANT Don't close the app at this point, instead click the popup at the bottom, and agree to it. If you were to exit and re-open without agreeing, it will trigger a different popup which won't enable the toolbar.
This works with Nova launcher integration as well.
I've tested this on 7.1.1, however it should work on marshmallow and lollipop.
Edit: I tried this on a US language/region device, I'm not sure if it will work in other regions.
