A list of puns related to "Glorification"
Word.
Edit: while I'm quite aware not all men are bad or violent, even ones that aren't can still have some misogynistic beliefs, even if not consciously aware of them. Such as:
Glorifying violence, war and "war hero" scenarios, admiring so called successful men that have "hot bitches", constantly being overly competitive and having to prove what a man or how successful you are, not thinking a woman is as smart as a man and not valuing the opinions of women, thinking porn and prostitution are not a problem and that all those girls are just "skanks" and enjoy what they're doing, thinking women are not complete or sad without having children, not speaking up when your friends say degrading things about females or their bodies, reproductive system etc etc etc.
i hate seeing people try to perfect something and say "i'm so ocd". it's just so annoying to people with ocd. the (usually) NT people who say this just say it because they think it makes them quirky. dear people who think ocd is a quirk, let me tell you one thing. it's not a quirk. nothing about having ocd is fun. mine got worse with covid and i was in the worst mental state of my life a few months ago. i couldn't get out of bed, shower, or eat. i'm doing much better now, but it was terrible then. sure some people with ocd have perfectionism ocd, but it's much more than simple things like organizing colored pencils.
Of course this post won't make any real difference, but just wondering if anyone else here is really perturbed by the extreme glorification of our personality type? I find the highfalutin jargon of some YouTube videos particularly disturbing and toxic. Like this one video I'm watching titled Why are INFJs so Damn Attractive? (bleh!) "People want to know what they are thinking but will never know all of it. This makes INFJs incredibly fascinating and intimidating at the same time." Like really?! This implies that we have so many more thoughts than any other personality type and we should be feared. This is such arrogant b.s.!
It's gross and makes me angry. And I feel it could be very detrimental for young INFJs especially. What do you think?
** Btw, I wrote this after overthinking at 2 AM so there's that... I know it's just click bait, and it's the internet. Just wanted to start a group rant and see how y'all have experienced this...
Iβm a current junior at a well-known university, studying a non-CS STEM field. Iβve noticed at my institution (and on A2C) that thereβs a glorification of CS that goes something like this:
β’ CS provides the best career opportunities because of its exits into FAANG and quantitative finance, or even its ability to make students look βmore intelligentβ than other job applicants regardless of their intended field
β’ CS is the most challenging major, barring a few niche exceptions centered around math and physics
β’ Hence, everyone is who majors in CS is exceptionally brilliant and ambitious, and the only valid reason to not major in CS is an inability to succeed in such a demanding field
Iβve also noticed a bizarre stereotype of CS majors being the βgenius nerdβ type, though IRL itβs probably among the most fratty non-business majors. It is a very self-congratulatory culture as well.
The (intuitive) truth is that students in finance, consulting, and law experience just as much economic success as engineers at FAANG, there are plenty of brilliant students who pour into academia, medicine, engineering, and the public sector, and elite students have a greater diversity of interests than these forums would suggest.
Sure, for those who enjoy coding and find the theory of computer science genuinely engaging, CS is an excellent choice that will open many doors. But if it is not your true passion, there are many other ways to earn just as much in (IMO) more multifaceted roles.
If youβre one of the many pre-CS applicants here, think about why CS is your goal. If you love it, youβre in it for the right reasons. If you see it primarily as a lucrative IQ flex, do some research on law, finance, engineering, consulting, or medicine before being misled by this glorification.
I had some really good laughs reading all this bizarre shit those freaky dudes came up with. Incels do have some sense of humor i must admit.
Of course the laughs don't last long when the next thread you read is about pedophilia or rape.
On November 12, at a meeting of the UN General Assembly, on the initiative of the Russian Federation, a resolution was adopted "Combating Glorification of Nazism, neo-Nazism and Other Practices That Contribute to Fuelling Contemporary Forms of Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia and Related Intolerance."
58 countries, including Russia, became co-authors of the project.
121 States voted for the resolution, 2 delegations (USA, Ukraine) opposed it, and 53 countries abstained from voting.

Almost all of Europe, having abstained from voting, is ready to shamefully agree with the glorification of Nazism.
Over the past few years, Russia has annually initiated the adoption by the UN General Assembly of a resolution on the inadmissibility of the glorification of Nazism. The USA and Ukraine vote against it every time.
Has anyone else noticed that companies are changing the name of what would traditionally be considered βhelp deskβ job opportunities to sound more enticing and lucrative? Iβm seeing this role referred to as βTechnology Analystβ and βTechnology Consultantβ but you can clearly see in the job description that it is the exact role of someone working at a help desk (i.e., answering support calls, opening ServiceNow tickets, setting up new user workspaces, etc). Iβve worked in this role before and itβs no walk in the park, contrary to popular belief. If theyβre trying to beef up the sound of the position, the pay should also be increased too. Thoughts?
Students turned in their final research papers yesterday (I teach freshman level English mostly to dual credit students). The essays were about what youβd expect as a whole from students in Texas, given that there was supposed to be a persuasive aspect to this paper. But one student rose above the pack by writing an entire essay glorifying Pinochet as greatly improving Chile by killing and torturing socialists and communists, among other questionable points. Iβm kind of at a loss, as a leftist myself. Since the student actually followed directions, I felt like I had to give the student a passing grade. I gave them a 75 and have tried to move on with my day. But the urge to email the student and compare Pinochet to Nazis (the basest form of discussion, I know, but they also killed and tortured leftists). I do know this isnβt the optimal response. The student is 16-17, sometimes wears a Blue Lives Matter hat. I never have to see them or their classmates again, which is a relief. I did tell the students that they had to run their essay topics by me. This student obviously did not. Thanks for any advice.
Idk. Since therapy, treatment, and regulation of meds, Iβve kinda changed my perspective on how βcoolβ mania is. Maybe itβs because everything is relative, and I associated it with relief from severe depression. I used to compare it to cocaine highs, but the key difference in my opinion is the lack of euphoria.
Now itβs just an irritating thing I have to occasionally deal with through grounding techniques and meditation/prayer, as well as calling people that understand.
More than anything, I want to enjoy life for what it actually is. (A foreign concept to me) and mania (as well as depression) are simply my minds distortion of the true reality of my life.
That all being said, mania is different for everyone. Would love to hear your opinions on mania, and whether or not it is a positive (or negative) in your life.
Rant- I got a little annoyed from the reactions to a post I saw here yesterday. (clarification- it wasnβt my post, but I commented on it) Is it not normal to enjoy hypo/mania while you are hypo/manic? Of course thereβs limits, drawbacks, etc. Of course itβs part of our disorder. Someone called it βglorifyingβ when the OP simply said that hypomania feels amazing.
Genuinely, is it glorification? Is it a bad thing to share here that hypo/mania feels amazing? Especially coming from an entire subreddit of people who have experienced the same thing. Is it such a terrible bad thing that people should be shamed for saying they like hypo/mania? I really am curious. I thought it was very common to enjoy mania as a bipolar person, despite its effects. But apparently it is glorification and you shouldnβt do that because hypo/mania also negatively affects people.
I shared on that post that hypomania is my confidence, productivity, etc, and that I get sad when I realize itβs hypomania and that depression soon follows. Got downvoted a few times for it. Like what? Why come to this sub, share with people what you feel, just to be invalidated? I know complaining about downvotes is cringe but legitimately did I say something WRONG? Am I completely and utterly blind to the toxicity of stating that youβve enjoyed hypo/mania? This sub confuses me sometimes lol
my closing thoughts: ummmm some people are not as understanding or empathetic as they think, and itβs toxic to gatekeep what experiences, positive or negative, people get to have support for on here.
Alcohol can pose serious threats to people with low tolerance, anger issues, are prone to addictions, etc. But today's media (by which I mean movies and TV mostly) often portrays it as a fun little pastime with no consequences. People get funny drunk and it's a good laugh and the next morning everything is back to normal. This is an unrealistic portrayal of a dangerous drug that can lead people to believing it's no big deal.
Look, I can very much understand that one would want to make depressed people feel like they're not inferior to others just because of their condition. But this is NOT the way to do it. When I look at these posts depicting depression as something cute or beautiful, I always feel a strong sense of disgust. Kids, there is a huge difference between being down in the dumps sometimes and having the mental illness that prevents you from getting any pleasure. These people who claim that they are insane make me roll my eyes so hard that I can see my brain, as they're giving actually insane people a bad name. Also, the people who go like "I'M a PsYChoPaTH uwu i'mmA go Kill sOMe people"... they REALLY grind my gears.
