A list of puns related to "Gestalt Therapy"
Where can I find a gestalt therapist in Portugal
Hi!
I need your help. And I see, this community is less biased about transition as a therapy.
Recently, I decided to visit a therapist. But I'm afraid of them leading me to a transition, because it's too common "cure" for dysphoria (caused by lack of unbiased research).
Maybe I'm not trans, and my dysphoric state is just compulsive obsession caused by desire for being accepted by abstract community of women as someone who has something in common with them. Maybe I'm just a narcissist who wants an endless validation and needs therapy to get rid of pseudo-transgender way of getting validation.
Most of the therapists in my area are represented by this types:
In your experience, Which one is less biased and more effective for coping with dysphoria?
Anyone know if this form of therapy seems to invalidate narcissistic abuse when applied to it? I had one therapist who used it and he thought he knew better than me and something else must be going on. I was looking forward to qualifying for a therapist again (I indicated in the application that psychological abuse was one thing I was seeking help for so thought the facility would be smart enough to give me one of their many counselors who specialize in trauma) looking at the counselorβs bio now it looks like itβs not one of her specialties. Iβm considering canceling for this reason. Which I donβt want to do, but I donβt need more invalidation, have experienced it twice already by a therapist and felt severely impeded both times.
Hi there! Has anyone had any experience with Gestalt therapy?
Theres a clinic near me and Im wondering how is the experience like, and possible effect on Avoidant tendency or interpersonal relationships?
Thanks !
Hello again everyone! I made a few posts here recently, but I'll sum up my presentation once again. I'll soon get my master degree in Psychology and I'm trying to understand which theory better suits my beliefs. I've always been attracted to psychoanalysis and recently I became fascinated with the american relational school of thought. I never cared for CBT or similar approaches, but I do find humanistic approaches interesting (I also have a master degree in Philosophy). Today I was reading a paper on Gestalt therapy, and I must say that I find many of its key elements very interesting. So I began to wonder: what are the core differences between gestalt therapy and relational psychoanalysis? Is an integration between the two possible? I still have to get a good grasp in gestalt therapy - as it was never touched upon in my university courses - but I'd like to hear your thoughts if you ever happened to ask yourself this question.
So I had my first ever therapy appointment the other day via Zoom conference. It actually went pretty well. I know that it's recommended to find a therapist that really clicks with you and I've only had one session so far, but she seems pretty good and I think I like her.
Anyway, she said her main modality is Gestalt therapy. I know a little bit about other common modalities like CBT, EMDR, psychodynamic, etc. from reading on therapy-related subreddits like this one, but I don't know anything about Gestalt therapy. Does anyone here have any experience with it? What is it like, and what can I expect if I continue sessions with my T?
Hello to the realm of Gestalt Therapy! I'm linking the memory reconsolidation theme together in Reddit! (What do we call "the memory reddit" if medical people and meditating people are both kind of reserving "meddit" already?). You're very welcome to drop by, if you're in to this topic.
I hope everyone is doing good, whatever human experience you might be exploring!
It seems pretty intense 4 the subject. Do you have any reading suggestions to approach it all ?
I am a novice in this subject and would appreciate any view, positive or negative.
Since there isnt an active Gestalt psychotherapy sub on reddit this feels like the place to ask.
Sorry if I am mistaken.
My therapist predominately uses gestalt therapy but so far I donβt feel like itβs right for me. She wants to jump in to processing past memories without any preparation and I feel like it will only retraumatize me
Hi!
I'm a PGY-1 resident in psychiatry with an interest in gestalt-therapy and I would like read more about it before starting my formal psychotherapy training. I wish to deepen my skill in that field and seize opportunities to have clinical supervision during my PGY-2 to 4.
What are the must-read in your knowledge?
Thank you!
I'm on the waitlist for Gestalt, but it's gonna be a few weeks. Anyone can recommend other ones I could go to in the meantime?
I have insurance but it's a high deductible, and I'm only planning to go to therapy once a month so I won't meet it at all.
Hello everyone.
New user here.
Can anyone point me to a good online resource for Gestalt therapy?
I am in process of education (first year) but I cant seem to find a lot of resources (or a subreddit for that matter).
Do you know of any?
Thank you.
Has anyone got a gestalt therapy? A counselor I saw last week referred me to get one. I read a few articles about it but I'm still not sure how effective it is. Any help is appreciated. Thank you!
Do you find these approaches to be compatible? My theories class just discussed Gestalt therapy and I can see a lot of overlaps especially in the area of dream interpretations as a way of bringing about more awareness. I would love to hear others thoughts about this.
I really space out during social interaction. I never really examined it but basically I see any interaction with another human being as something to be survived. My trauma dissociation response automatically puts a fog over interaction, but I'm so used to it I don't even realise. I'm so present to myself when I'm alone, it's jarring then to have to interact with people. I think I actually need to practice being socially present with someone that is safe. I believe that's what gestalt therapy is all about, right? Anyone with personal experience please share.
Is it worth going for a M.A. as a foundation - it doesn't seem like many places offer Gestalt or Reichian courses, as they are lesser known. Excuse me if this is a weird question, I just graduated with my B.A. , and the traditional route is definitely not for me... Any Gestalt or Reichian therapists out there?
I can't find this books on pdf, any help is appreciated. Thank you
