>The role of Daenerys is a difficult role, particularly in the pilot, because Daenerys begins as a frightened little girl. She's thoroughly dominated by her brother, who humiliates her and sexually assaults her. He's selling her to this fierce guy and she's frightened but during the course of that comes into her own power. She suddenly grows from a girl to a woman and starts to realize that she does have power and authority. There's a transformation that's incredible the entire course of the show. You have to find an actress who can do both parts, who can be very convincing as the scared little girl in the beginning, but also very convincing as the "I'm gonna kick your ass and burn your city to cinders" woman that she becomes by the end. It's challenging and it was a hard part to ca se.

George says Dany will become a "I'm gonna kick your ass and burn your city to cinders" woman by the end. Of course, 'end' could be end of Season 1, the end of A Dance with Dragons, or the end of the entire storyline. And the city could be a slaver city in Essos, King's Landing, or both. However, considering all the debate about whether Dany will ultimately burn King's Landing, I thought the quote was worth sharing.
