A list of puns related to "Gamergate Controversy"
A few months a go I decided to replay the Mass Effect Trilogy after seeing some mea culpa's from ex-GamerGate members who talked about how the rage over the ending to Mass Effect 3's ending blinded them to a glorified smear campaign. I had never finished Mass Effect 3 because I was so overwhelmed by the controversy, but I had a sneaking suspicion that it wouldn't be a bad as so many people made it out to be.
And I was right. Not that impressive in terms overall badness when compared to this gem.
For the record I did watch both the original and extended cut ending, I feel that the extended cut was a mistake. The original ending does admittedly suffer from being too open ended, but I feel that it was something BioWare could be built upon in a meaningful way. Imagine if there was a DLC that had you play as Joker, and the rest the surviving Normandy crew, piecing together what had happened, when the Crucible unleashed it's power rather than a slide show that was merely Fallout lite.
Gaming took a major step backwards in regards with how the fan base reacted to the ending. If you still hate the ending, fine, you do you, but I think you have to admit that the reaction that it spawned helped normalize some really shitty behavior that paved the way for GamerGate.
We can take advantage of this opportunity to insert some leftist theory into the gaming community. This is such a blatant "capitalism doesn't care about humanity" moment, and it should be easy to get the idea across since Blizz is such an obvious example.
It sure was a significant cultural event, and weβre still seeing the effects today.
