A list of puns related to "First Person Perspective"
Loving the game so far! But the cramped corridors lend themselves to 1PP over 3PP
Hey r/Games!
Roughly 6 years ago, I started prototyping a first-person puzzle game based on perspective for a college class. It was randomly named βMuseum of Simulation Technology.β Tomorrow, weβre finally launching the actual finished game called Superliminal!
Feel free to ask us any questions on the entire process: Why it took 6 years, dumb mistakes we made along the way, and things that changed in the game throughout these years.
A few of us from the team, Albert (lead designer) and Logan (level designer), will be here to answer any questions! Weβll be around for a couple of hours starting at 11AM PST typing replies on our keyboard.
I havenβt shipped a full game before, but Logan was the level designer of a game you might know as Perspective and also created his own game called Four Sided Fantasy. Other folks on the team have worked on games such as Bioshock Infinite, Snail Trek, Injustice: Gods Among Us, Brutal Legend.
If youβre curious, hereβs what Superliminal looks like right now: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_SX8XMwMw6Y
And the link to our Epic store page. We'll also be out on consoles and Steam next year!
Update: We've answered almost every question so far so we'll be jumping off for a short while! We'll be back later if there are more questions to answer!
I have to admit, I'm extremely happy that CD Projekt went with the first person perspective for Cyberpunk 2077.
This allows for a much more immersive game. You can see all the little details up close, and the first person perspective (when well done) uniquely allows you to sometimes even forget that you're playing a videogame, it can make you feel as if you're there, in the gameworld, by yourself.
Also let's not forget that FPP is usually better for gunplay, which will be an important part of CP2077. Granted, there exist good third person shooters, but first person perspective is still usually better for shooting mechanics.
Some people say that they are frustrated that "you won't be able to see your customized character, what's the point of customization?". I believe that it's completely unjustified, since it has already been confirmed that cutscenes are third person, so you'll be able to see your character in the cutscenes. And since it's a CD Projekt game, there will be a lot of great cutscenes.
Finally, all early impressions from the behind-the-scenes showcase of 50 minutes of gameplay (like this one due to Gameinformer) state that Cyberpunk's first person perspective was a pleasant surprise and it looked great, which indicates that CD Project indeed did a good job with implementing FPP.
Hopefully soon we'll see some gameplay by ourselves, which I believe will support the points I made.

I myself fall into this category of not liking first person perspective (except you ACD fics, you I like) but why? Why is this dislike so widespread itβs practically a joke or shade?
βI found this fic I thought I would love- the perfect word count, funny tags, incredibly written summary. But then I clicked on the title, and exposed my eyes to the sequel* of fan fiction - an entire fic in first person perspective
*expected, unwanted, unavoidable
I'd just use it to back up into parking spaces.
I got this from a Bernardo Kastrup's video where he mentions that this is empirically provided and accepted. I couldnβt understand this. Can someone please give a simple explanation to me (newbie)?
Are they speaking as themselves? As me? As God? I'm having difficulty understanding from who's mind the messages are supposed to be coming from.
Thank you for answering!
Plenty of people are claiming gendered pronouns as their own, but none of us use she/he/they pronouns when talking about ourselves unless we're doing so in the third person. When she/he/they pronouns are used to describe you, itβs because another person is using them to do so. The pronouns used by that person might be different to those someone else would use, because their use is ultimately a subjective reflection of that individual's personal perception of you.
All third person pronouns in the English language are gendered in one way or another, and their use consequently 'puts gender' on the people they are used to refer to, or removes it from them. Of course, you can ask people to refer to you by pronouns youβve decided on yourself, and you can have your wish respected. But can your request be distinguished from an attempt to take control of language that exists to describe someone elseβs perception? Isn't it just the desire to make that perception conform with your own rather than to have to confront the reality that we don't get to dictate how others see us?
Clarification (Edit): Several comments have pointed out that my original statement, below, on misgendering is confusing/sweeping/undermines my argument. I agree, so hereβs some clarification. I would define "deliberate misgendering" as somebody going out of their way to use a particular pronoun to refer to somebody else with the intention of undermining/insulting them. "Deliberate misgendering", in my opinion, takes effort, and the person doing it is usually lying about the way they perceive the person theyβre misgendering under the misguided notion that they are somehow stating an objective truth. An example of this would be referring to a trans woman who presents in a way that clearly communicates she wishes to be perceived as female, using pronouns other than she/her.
Original Stance: In case it isn't clear, I'm not referring to deliberate misgendering. In those circumstances, the person referring to you is doing so with the sole purpose of causing offence/upset, and I don't think that can be said to accurately reflect anything more than that person's ill intentions towards you. I'm talking about situations in which pronouns are used in day-to-day conversation and can reasonably be assumed to be a) purely practical/convenient and b) a reflection of a personβs genuine perception of you in a world that is gendered (whether that aligns with your self-perception of your gender or not).

... keep reading on reddit β‘I'm more comfortable writing in first person in general. However, there are some plot points involving other characters that need to be stated in the middle of the novel. Would it be out of sync to switch perspectives for that particular chapter?
I often ask myself like βWhy am I me ? And not someone else?β Or why they were born in a certain time period or place in the world? Or that fact that viewing life from first person is super strange. Idk maybe itβs just me. I had this idea that ever since I was a kid that since I was viewing life and the world from a first person perspective through my eyes that I was the protagonist in everything that exists in this lifetime but to realize when I got older that Iβm only a grain of sand in the grand scheme of the universe... lol I hope that makes sense.
What i'm mainly looking for when i'm writing my character is how to write dialogue, her thought process, decision making and how she questiones her morality when deciding between her options.
And especially when its a woman, is there anything different I should add to it?
New player here looking to understand the basics of strategy and decision making, etc. I'm used to watching pro players in other games (like viper in age of empires, or purge in dota), which queue for ranked games, and show you the whole game from start to finish, explaining their decisions as they go along.
Where should I go to find this in CS:GO? All I can find are stream highlights, pro games with people relating them, or wacky mods/challenges/etc. I understand ranked games take around 40 minutes, but every CS:GO channel has shorter 10 minutes ones, why is this?
A dumb example is this... People keep posting on Oreos Facebook page with a photo of missing Oreos from the sleeve trying to score free product (I assume). I see this every day and I believe it's from one person doing it and getting a reply back from Oero so more people keep doing it. I want to call this a symptom of _______.
Iβm writing a short story where the main character (whose perspective the story is from) has dementia. Iβm trying to make casual hints in the beginning to her condition. For example, in the beginning, she mentions that sheβs watching the morning news. Later, another character turns on the television. Little inconsistencies here and there.
My question is do you think this will simply come off as bad writing until the reader sees some major mistakes on the main characterβs part (like not remembering the man sheβs talking to is her son)?
I havenβt read the Bionicle: Legends series through yet, and might not ever read official Karda Nui content again, but I want to know if, over all their journeys, one Toa has personally witnessed MORE of the important information being revealed than the other 5. Like Tahu knew about the mask of time before everyone else, and heβs also the character βin chargeβ, with a direct tie to the two Turaga(Vakama and Dume) with the most executive power, which makes him a compelling nominee for lead role in this hypothetical retelling. Is there different criteria you would consider when choosing a lead?
I don't remember the exact era i was around 9-10 years old when i played it. All i remember is the first mission in which you start crouching next to a building and take out guards slowly. As far as i remember the character had glasses and resembled the Terrorist NPC from Counter Strike 1.6. The title maybe had "Red" included and had a communist type of main menu. That's all i have
P.S. Think it came around the time as Elder Scrolls but I'm not so sure (nvm I'm a dumb idiot, it came out the same time as Dark Messiah Might And Magic not Elder Scrolls...)
PPS. The first mission setting was at night time, possibly winter l.
PPPS. It wasn't futuristic as far as i recall.
Hey everyone, FPP has been out for a couple days now so I thought I'd try to make a guide that can aid and encourage people playing First-Person mode!
I'm currently (at the time of writing this)No.1 on the Solos FPP Oceanic leaderboard and while I realise my, and everyone else's playtime is still low which could lead to an inaccuracy of skill depiction I thought I'd give this a go and get a bit of shameless boasting in while I can.
My settings: Aim Acceleration - 0,DeadZone - 0, General Sensitivity - 7, Vehicle Sensitivity - 5, Targeting Sensitivity - 7. Scoping, two times and four times are all on 6. Eight times sensitivity - 5 and Fifteen times sensitivity is on 10.
Early-game
Arguably one of the most important as well as frantic parts of the game is the initial drop and looting that ensues. Generally, this stage of the game is not much different from its Third Person counterpart, you merely have to be more aware of your surroundings and keep mental locations of enemies in your vicinity. When parachuting it is vital that you free-look (RB and left joystick) in order to find out if anyone else is dropping near you.
A great tactic to catch any nearby enemies by surprise is to drop into a house, warehouse, whatever; and loot only the essentials. Look for any kind of weapon (excluding perhaps pistols) as well as a vest, helmet or ideally both. Immediately run towards where you last saw the enemy(s) and crouch-walk when near the location. Listen for their steps and unload on them when they exit their building - this will often lead to an easy first kill.
Recommended drop locations
Prison - Often my go to drop location, it generally spawns plentiful amounts of armour, medicines and tactical items as well as weapons. A Kar98 will likely spawn in one of the five industrial hanger areas in the courtyard - a great pickup.
Georgopol/Yasnaya Polyana - You might think that these locations are extremely dangerous - and you're right. However, with risk comes reward. In both locations there are multi-story apartments (see here and here) that often come with everything you'll need to get you into the mid-game.
Alternate option - Apart from going directly to these locations above, I will 70% of t
[EDIT] after thinking a bit more, I think that maybe the disaster had something to do with chemical weapons leak? Also I think character #1 was robbed by taxi driver and stranded on side of highway at start of book
Also, anything you would recommend to read up on this I would greatly appreciate!
I feel like everyone is the same and that I am different. It feels like everyone is cloned and has the same personalities but somehow mine is very different. My social skills are way off and I observe everyday how easy it is for others to make friends. Everyone else seems to have life figured out and are in total ease with themselves. It feels as if everyone is right and you are wrong. You start to feel like a reject. Then suddenly you hear on TV that an autistic person was able to get in the top University or invent something totally extraordinary that would change other peopleβs lives.
This post is not to say that autism is negative or that autism = depression. Iβm just saying that it takes a-lot to except yourself as being different. Many of us go through very difficult challenges (like me). I feel like everything I do is an accomplishment vs for someone normal itβs like a laughing matter.
Overall despite all these challenges I still feel proud and happy for what I am even if some days just feel like a complete dead end. I think that these βchallengesβ make me more compassionate and sometimes I feel that my life would be boring if I donβt have any challenges because there would not be a whole lot of room for improvement.
Hopefully this gives a first hand look of what it feels like for someone who is actually autistic and what goes on inside their brain.
I prefer fpp modes over tpp ones. Will it be possible in the future to play on fpp only servers?
