A list of puns related to "Field Slaves"
In my mind, it was always something about "ricotta cheese".
Malcolm X has a speech where he equates certain members of the African American population with house slaves and his sentiment towards them is decidedly negative.
And in Django Unchained, Samuel L. Jackson's character is a villainous house slave.
I wonder if both these are related to lingering resentment towards house slaves or if something more recent.
Small warning before this post starts: The title explains what is going to be said, if you don't want to read about racism I would skip this post. For those of you sticking around, prepare for a journey, because it's going to be a long one. Also, Critcrab if you do end up reading this, hope you're having a good day, watching a video you made recently (as of the time of this post) has inspired me to share a similar story.
So to provide some background, this event takes place on a Discord server that is currently playing pseudo-west-marches in Cyberpunk RED and an affiliate server of it. This story is going to involve a few people, however, I will list down the important ones (names have been changed for obvious reasons).
Kate: A person of color who is the one being compared to the title.
Michael: The person calling Kate this phrase.
Collin: Michael's "back-up," also a person of color.
Kevin: An admin on the Cyberpunk Server, the hero of this story, also a person of color.
Cyberpunk Server: Where dissent grows.
Affiliate Server: Where the dissent climaxes. All the people in this story are/were a part of both servers.
To begin Michael joined the server months ago and is a very big fan of playing games Rules as Written (RAW). By very big fan, I mean VERY BIG FAN. So much so that many arguments would break out; him starting it, if someone went against the grain or tried to implement something or make a ruling that wasn't in the book.
To provide a lighter example before we delve into the main problem, for Netrunning, a DV12 check when Netrunning is the highest it could be according to the book and Michael was attempting to netrun in a famous netrunning bar run by someone (in-lore stuff) who survived the 4th Corporate War and knows all about systems. This was going to be explained in a moment, but because the person didn't roll high enough (believed he rolled a 13 I'm not 100% sure) he freaked out at the GM screaming how the GM wasn't playing by RAW and that he was a bad GM and all that nonsense. That was just one of the many RED flags we spotted, and to be fair, he probably should have been kicked sooner or because of this instance.
Continuing, the server has a motto of being able to "play how you want" which does lead to many inconsistencies when it comes to certain rulings, but that's the whole appeal, to get a feel for how specific people GM. As a reminder, there's no problem with how you want to play, whether that be with 100 hou
