A list of puns related to "Far Infrared"
As the title says, must have:

Is there a way to use colored filters, ie cellophane, to cover an led light so that the red light coming shining through would technically be in the far red spectrum. I've read somewhere about some scientists growing plants in a lab who were able to cover bright white lights with two layers of red cellophane to make red light, and then two layers over another light, along with, of all things, two layers of blue cellophane in order to create far red/infrared light, for the purpose of experimenting with getting the plants to flower at odd intervals. Has anyone tried this or know if this is possible. I plan on using bright "white" 4ft led tubes, so there won't be an issue of heat melting the cellophane. I appreciate any and all constructive replies, except for ones recommending i just go purchase infrared light bulbs, thanks!
I am looking for a good but inexpensive brand of a far infrared sauna. I know that Sunlighten and Clearlight are heavily advertised within the biohacking community. However, they are pricey, and I am not sure that it is worth the price difference.
Effectiveness: I have found no evidence that full spectrum saunas are more beneficial than far infrared. FIR sauna better achieves the purpose of speeding up water molecules, raising the core temperature, with the resulting health benefits.
Comfort: Speaking with Sauna companies which sell full spectrum, they admitted that far infrared is more comfortable. I have a near infrared sauna, and I can attest that it is not very comfortable.
Combining sauna with light therapy: I think this is not very effective because:
a. light therapy is given with specific wavelengths (say 850nm)
b. at very close range (say 1-3 inches)
c. certain number of joules per square cm need to be achieved
d. light therapy involves giving energy to the cells while sauna involves spending the energy (akin to a workout), so these two processes are probably best done separately.
I am sure there are good quality Chinese FIR sauna manufacturers. Can anyone recommend one, or help in how to identify a good one?
Thank you!
I bought a sauna blanket a while ago, now it occurred to me that heat is very bad for testicular function - testosterone and sperm production
Due to the sauna blanket there is quite a heat on the testicles, scrotums and perineum.
Doesn't that harm the testicles a lot with regular use?! What do you think?
Hey,
Interested in getting a far infrared sauna to manage chronic pain. Looking on Amazon and what not I noticed some reviews claiming some saunas advertising as featuring far infrared arenβt actually far infrared. And as far as I know far infrared is preferred for chronic pain issues.
Any recommendations are appreciated.
Looking to spend around $300 to $500β¦ Would consider $1,000 plus for a wood sauna, but would rather pay less if the benefits are about the same.
Thanks
My wife was recently diagnosed. She's changing her diet, deciding which medicines she wants to be on, and looking at other alternative therapies (including infrared sauna). Does anybody here have any experience with this? There are a ton of in-home options - some of which look pretty comical - and I have my eye on a nice one. We're hoping that if we throw a bunch of stuff at it that something will eventually stick.
So my girlfriend has suffered from chronic back pain for a number of years. Seen several doctors and they all have no clue and essentially turn her away saying they have no explanation. She has minor scoliosis but to a degree that shouldn't cause pain according to them. She's tried facet injections which gave minor relief for a time but only lasted a couple months at most.
That said basically from the time she gets home from work she essentially lives with a clay microwaveable heat pad on her back. These last a year or two before the clay becomes clumpy and doesn't hold heat as well. I'd like to get her something more long term and the infrared stuff intrigues me. I just can't find much scientifically to confirm that it actually penetrates deeper or is more effective. A couple 10 person studies is the best I could find and they don't seem to compare a moist heat style pad to the IR style. They are more about whether they provide relief or not.
I've been pricing some and the UTK seems like a good choice based on reviews but I'd like to know if people truly saw an improvement over a more typical run of the mill heat pad. No offense to anyone who does, but I don't buy into the whole jade and tourmaline/amethyst negative ion stuff. So I'm really only wondering about it from a purely heat based perspective. Do they truly penetrate deeper, and do you guys feel they work noticeably better over a regular heat pad?
Hi all. So I have a chronic bartonella infection. I am on antibiotics which causes die off in the eye (herxheimer reaction) and resulting in uveitis. I just bought a far infrared sauna and was going to use it for the first time but realized 1) my eye is already inflamed with active uveitis 2) Sauna increases blood vessels and this make things in my eye worse? 3) The Infrared is safe for the eye but I'm sure heating up the body temperature is not ideal during acute uveitis. Is there any literature on this? Whats your opinion?
Thanks!
There's a lot of conflicting info out there and most is not supported by research. I'm particularly interested in the penetration depth and if the gemstones really make the FIR go deeper.
Goal is muscle relaxation. I have psoas convulsions as well, so it would be nice if it went a couple inches deep like they claim, but I don't believe it.
My husband lucked into a FB marketplace deal and scored a far infrared Sunlighten Signature I for me. I am thinking I can add a PlatinumLED pro 900 and let it hang inside the door of my Signature box. Would that work ? Would far infrared hurt the near ir panel?
Recently set up a sauna in our house and quickly found my cat really wanted to join us. Weβve let him in a couple times for a few minutes and he absolutely loves it. I did some research and it seems relatively safe for cats as long as theyβre monitored but was wondering if some of you have experience or knowledge regarding it.
Hi everyone, my gf suffers from periodic endo cramps and possibly sciatica. Shes currently using this tired old heat pad but Im considering getting her one of these fancy ones with jade and tourmaline stones. Theyβre supposed to provide a deeper heat that would hopefully penetrate deeper into the muscles. Have any of you tried one of these heating pads, and do you feel they do more than regular electric pads for the pain?
So I just picked up the Higher Dose sauna blanket. I'm used to going 20-30 minutes at 190F in a traditional sauna at my gym... obviously those are shut down now, so I'm looking into portable home solutions. I might do a big write-up making a detailed comparison of several of them, if people can vouch for any in particular.
The HigherDose is supposed to leave your neck and maybe shoulder/arm out of the bag, I'm tall as it is (6'3") so this doesn't heat me up the way I'd like. I've worked out a system for wiggling my way down into the bag like Houdini and then throwing a pillow over the top of the neck area while leaving just enough of a crack for some air. It's a little bit of a hassle, but so worth it. I'm able to get it hot enough this way that I can only last ~25 minutes before I have to crawl out. For me, the two criteria I would want in an "upgrade" are something that gets even hotter (literally the hotter the better), and more room (mainly length). Does anyone know of anything that might fit the bill?
In general, have you guys had positive experiences with any other FIR wraps or portable home solutions? What criteria might be important for someone in a different demographic from myself, that I should evaluate different blankets for?
Are cheaper FIR blankets worth it compared to the premium brand models? Say, does $100-350 get anything worth jack?
Would you be satisfied with an experienced sauna user reporting how long they can last through an average session in a given unit as a gauge for how hot it gets, or is there a specific way I should monitor my internal temperature?
looking at FIR sauna that's for sale. Can I add my own lights to it so that it becomes full spectrum?
thanks!
