My partner and I try to be conscious about the impact we have on the world, like the products we buy, the energy and water we use, and any other way we can help out. It seems like such a hopeless battle when all we see is "by 2030 or 20xx the damage will be irreversible" or " unpredictable and extreme weather by 2050". We will still be considerably young and have nieces and nephews we are concerned about, we don't want to see that happen or live in a toxic world but nobody seems to be trying to make a difference at least in the US (ie. Big corporations).
How do you deal with this?
Hello, I just graduated with a BA in environmental science and policy with a minor in geography. While in school I did an internship doing wetlands restoration, it was entirely fieldwork with no data entry or office work or anything like that. I’m now looking for a job or internship and it seems like everything I find either wants me to still be a student or have 3-5 years of experience with environmental compliance stuff. I’ve taken multiple classes on this topic obviously because of my major but I haven’t been able to find any way to get any real experience applying this knowledge. The only opportunities I seem qualified for is outdoor monitoring and fieldwork. I enjoy doing this but I’m scared it won’t lead to a real career. Any tips on finding ACTUAL entry-level work? Or careers that can come out of fieldwork experience if I continue working on that? (I’m in SoCal if that makes a difference) Thanks!
