When one takes a thorough look through history and in particular monetary history, a very startling picture is painted.
Not only has humanity done this before (though, never on such a scale nor with all countries near uniformly issuing unbacked paper debt piles), but it tends to have a predictable but terrible outcome.
As the population senses it's decline in purchasing power, and having been completely undereducated in sound money theory, they pine for strong government and wage/price controls. This has obviously negative effects as when a govt does anything but provide a legal framework to adjudicate disputes it inevitably fails and makes the problem worse (2008 financial crisis anyone?).
This in turn leads to an ever more totalitarian state, and thus the problems only increase until a time of bloody revolution, a time when the populace senses the reward to risk ratio to rebellion outweighs in favor of rebellion against the possible reprecussions.
This cycle echoes throughout almost all civilizations right up to this very day, and Mike Maloney and others have done a fantastic job documenting this.
One thing that is different, is that no civilizations had such tech, such evil, nor simultaneously such mockery of the citizenry (Kings, Barrons, even most politicians of the past knew their subjects needed some level of moral and maintenance or they simply couldn't produce for the kingdom) as the tyranny is being installed. The time truly has come for a self assesment of just how far we are willing to let this go.
Some may want to say "This is exaggeration, hyperbole, and the world would never revert back to a feudalist-marxist state". Those are the sheep near the cliff as the wolves approach, no ire intended.
The end result of this game has always had a similar outcome, but this time it will have a never before seen tool for control in play. Many dystopian fiction novels aren't seeming so fictitous anymore...
